Yep, I believe he's famous for that burnout. People ask me about it every time I go to a car show or race. Internet is a wonderful communication tool!

I agree, it is a great burnout. But I just had to tease on the SVT forum. My daughter DOES have a 2001 Cougar (I know, I bought it for her) and we actually did burn it at the track (just so I could show her it could be done). I don't think she's quite ready to race it, though. It could be a competitor.:banana2: :banana2:

Thanks for the kind words and the compliments guys. Believe it or not, that does mean a lot to me. And thanks Marty for this thread. You're a great friend. ;) I want all of you to know something......

When I decided to sacrifice a pair of tires and I called on a friend to have him meet me in that parking lot to do that burnout as well as the other one that was done from a dead punch where I got sideways, I did it primarily w/all of you guys in mind. Yes, I showed it to my brother, and to a few friends that I work with, but most of them weren't very surprised, and I knew that they wouldn't be. One of them got a big kick out of it, but because they all know how I am, most of them just had the type of reaction to it like "yeah, just another crazy antic from Billy G....that's just Billy"......

But I knew that many of you would get a big kick out of it just as I did when I recently had the privilage of seeing Rick's excellent burnout too in the vid that Marty hosted. So the fact that many of you like it as much as you do made it all worth while for me. If none of you liked it, then I would've considered my time and effort to create that video a waste. I kid you not.

Now having explained all of that to you, I just want all of you to know what I had to say about your friend and mine (Marty) on that board, and about his Marauder. Here's a link. One of the reasons I'm directing you to this, is because it will bring back memmories for Marty, and Fat bastid, and it's also a little racing history between Marty and I that some of you might not know about.......so please check it out......particularly the short and brief comments that I shared concerning mine and Marty's efforts to top one another while at the dragstrip........enjoy....

i can think of something far more impressive than billy's burnout videos. a ride in his car. the thing is a freakin' rocket ship. i was in connecticut not too long ago and got a chance to meet billy after conversing on the internet for a while. he's a great guy who i consider a friend. i look forward to the next time we can hang out together at dunkin donuts. and i agree with TAF. you got static with billy? you got static with me!;)

Yup, I have that 300C video of it drifting, and that is pertty much the only one I have - except for the one of the snow driving for Chrysler testing. But take that and compare it to the folder full of MM videos I have, and there is no comparison.

Although I have gone back and forth some between the 2 cars, I am fully on the wagon for a MM and will have one sometime after the new kid is born!!! And, if I win the raffle, I will have a Trilogy S/C waiting for it when it comes home!!!

Todd & Chuck, thanks for what you've both written. You guys are great people.

Ross, I'll get that 50 cal mounted on there yet!!!! Maybe when I do, the local PD can hire me to hunt down the bad guys by disabling their vehicles w/one shot (that is as long as they don't consider me one of the bad guys  ). :D

ROYLPITA, Patrick, and others, I'm working on another vid soon within the next week or two. Hopefully I'll get it done before the snow starts coming down. The tough thing for me right now is finding an adequate place to do what it is I am planning on w/out having to worry about the local Law enforcement showing up on the scene.Besides the massive amount of smoke that a burnout can make, the Kooks headers and and Hi-perf exhaust can be heard for a mile away when the engine is redlined at WOT.

That road where Rick made that vid on looked ideal!!! And I agree that it was quite a nice personal touch of his to drive oiver the camera. Cool!!! I wish I had something like that road around where I live. But unfortunately I don't. And the parking lot where I did the last two vids is my workplace parking lot which has more than enough room on the weekend when nobody is in work, but me and my buddy w/the camera were there so long last time having fun and making smoke and noise that one of the guards there heard us and saw the smoke signals rising up to the sky, and caught us on the way out just as we had finished, and warned us not to ever go there again to do that. So, I cannot use that lot to do anothger vid. So I'm in search now for an alternate place. It's quite challenging for me to find something ideal, and I'm open to ideas or suggestions on that.

I have BOTH of those videos set up with my, uh... Marauder presentation when friends come over. I have the Media Center computer hooked up to the big-screen TV. First I show the DVD promo that came out when the MM was first introduced... (to whet the appetite) then I show BillyGman's awesome meltdown, followed by Marty's rocket-like victory. By then all mouths are open and they want to go out and look at mine.... LOL! Of course, mine is not comparable... but they don't have to know that!

While on lunch at work, I watched this video in amazement! After the fifth viewing, I could no longer see the monitor as my eyes were filled with tears of joy. :bigcry:
Adding to these tears was the fact that I do not have external speakers hooked to my PC.
But wait. . . I remembered the hidden Altec Lansing speakers that were unplugged and stashed due to getting busted for using about a year ago.:D
Relocating the speakers on either side of the monitor, I then crawled under my desk to plug them in. Crap!! Power strip full. :mad2:
Your outta here deskjet!
Hearing the "thump" from the speakers when the plug saw power from where the printer used to reside assured me a loud burnout was on its way!
Re-positioning myself vertically in front of my PC. I slowly turned the volume knob to. . . WOT!
No one in sight. . "Click."

OH. . . . MY. . . . GAWD! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

The noise was deafening (forgot how loud these puppies are!)
The whining of the S/C, . .
The smoke.
Redline!
Second gear shift, . .
Redline again!
The smoke!
. . . and the debris hitting me in the eyes from those long overdue contraband speakers had be crying like a 3 month old!:bigcry: :bigcry: :bigcry: :bigcry: :bigcry: :bigcry:
Video over and an audience behind me by now. Well, . . "Click again"
"Holy *****" someone yelled behind me. "That is awesome! Can yours do that?"
Crying even harder by now as I painfully had to reply "No."
The speakers were sounding terrible by this time as they were not equipped with a rev limiter, and pieces of the cones were all over the front of me and scattered across my desk along with my tears of joy!
Finished a cigarette, Altec Lansings are now garbage, the printer is happy, avoided an *ss chewing for disruption of our work environment and am driving a stock MM.
A special thanks to BillyG and his burnout!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

Mike.

Eric, to view the deadpunch burnout vid you have to right click, and then click "save target as" to download it on your PC. For some reason that seems to be the only way to view that one.

Eric91Z
11-26-2004, 07:49 AM
I have done that (actually on all videos) and when I try to play it, it gives me a message saying one or more of the codec is not installed. I have gone out to the Microsoft website and verified I have the most up to date version of Windows Player to play mpegs. Any other ideas or anywhere else I can try to down load another copy? I have downloaded the burnout video both from the MM.net and SVT sites and they both work.

Eric,

Right click on the address and save target as, . . .
Once saved on your local PC, right click on the file name and rename the extension to .wmv file.
This should work as I am currently running media player 10.

I believe that sounds accurate since I don't think that vid is an MPEG file. I remember having to change it to a different file type in order to make it small enough to fit on here.

OK, I have tried re-downloading the file and running with the mpeg extension and renaming to .wmv extension and still get the same error message.

When Windows Media Player opens, it pops up a window that says:

"Windows Media Player cannot play the file. One or more codecs required to play the file could not be found."

There is a CLOSE or WEB HELP button. I have tried clicking on the WEB HELP button and it takes me to a Microsoft.com webiste page that gives me the following:

"You've encountered error message C00D109B while using Windows Media Player"

I have gone through the Windows Media Player support area on the Micrsoft website and searched for that error message. The information I found suggested to re-download the codecs and DirectX and reinstall. I have done that and still getting the same error message. Have rebooted and still getting same error.

I am running WinXP Professional and Media Player 10.

Any other ideas?

Hmmmm, I don't know why you're having that problem. Infact I just played it again using Windows media player, and I too have Windows XP Pro like you do. If you have cable or DSL, then perhaps I can e-mail you the file if you write a PM to me which includes your e-mail address. Hopefully, the file isn't too large to send through e-mail.

I have seen those errors in the past not fnding resolution however, not with this vid. Media Player v10 is also what I am using without issues. Billy's burnout is only 500k and should not be a problem with e-mailing to you to try again.
Let me know if there is anything else you may need.

Mike.

Hey Eric. I did not have to rename the file. Try this.

DivX - This is just another codec. Think of it as the MP3 of video (in fact, some versions actually use MP3 encoding for the audio componant). Highly compressed files, that end up about 1/7th of the original source, and retains a fair amount of the original quality. To learn more, why not visit http://www.divx.com/

The audio quality was always poor w/that particular vid, and was due to a malfunction of the tape in my buddy's digital camera that he was using that day, however, the video quality was originally fine, and I just noticed when I downloaded it again from this board, that the video picture is now kinda distorted. BillyG, p.s. I was waiting or expecting fire sparks after all that smoke. :)Funny you should mention that. The burnout that I did for the tire changers last week in the parking lot of a local tire place, was more intense than the one in either of those two vids, and the next day when I saw one of the alignment guys, he said that my "tires were turning colors", and I thought he was joking, but maybe he wasn't!! Perhaps the back brake rotors were heating up so much that they were glowing.

This is precisely why I'll be finally installing the Line-Lock system in my car within the next week. That way, I won't be beating up the back brakes.
