I'm looking to put about a grand into my car and I was wondering how that money could be spent best. If I can't get a decent upgrade I'll just wait until I have enough money to do so. I'd call a decent upgrade something that puts the car into mid 14's on the track. Am I too optimistic?
First, about how I use my car. I dont think I could call it a daily driver because I don't commute to college with it(I take the bus), but it is my only means of transportation; meaning that I would have to use it at least once or twice a week and have to use it for long distance trips.
I've read a lot of good things on this site about a 4.10. Unless someone here has a better suggestion I think that what Im going with. I know you guys probably get asked this a lot but, how is that possible? Also, what are the downsides to putting a 4.10 in my car? I read that chart on this site about engine rpms at certain speeds so I know about that, but what about traction?
Is there anything on this car that could possibly break because of the installation of the 4.10? Either way, I have about a grand aside for a "fubar fund", is this enough?
I figured that If I were going to with any kind of new differential, I might as well get a chip, I need one of those anyway to get a speedo correction anyway, correct? what kind of gain could I see from a 4.10 coupled with a chip? What kind of chip should I get? What kind of risk is involved with putting a chip in?
Whatever I'm going to do, Im going to Dennis Reinhardt to get it done. Just for giggles, how much would getting a 4.10 and an alternative automotive chip cost?
Do you guys have any other suggestions? :help:
btw, sorry about the length of this post, soooo....
CLIFF NOTES: 4.10 and an alternative automotive chip installed by Dennis Reinhardt. Yes? no? better ideas? how much?
