I had the car on a lift yesterday and noticed oil around the base of the left rear shock absorber. I assume the shock is failing?
What are the odds of having the dealer replace BOTH shocks rather than just one?
26,000 MILES, and still under warranty.

The dealer will probably not want to replace both, but you argue pretty good to, Barry. Why not just upgrade to the QA1's?
Oh...money...and Xmas coming...I see.

Hey Barry,
Is there a way you can make both shocks look the same??;)

Same thing happened to me about a month ago. Left rear shock failed. I actually heard a pop from it and sure enough, next morning it looked like yours does.
My dealership wasn't going to replace the other shock, so I didn't argue with them. I paid to have the other one replaced at the same time. I figured it wasn't reasonable to expect them to swap out a good part, and also it threw a little for-pay work their way. Figured it couldn't hurt.

I had both my shocks changed under warranty for a noise coming from rear right side of car when crossing curb at an angle, the wrench just wrote on report that both shock mount bushings were bad.

IMO the shocks should be replaced in pairs.
