Ok, here's a good one. A couple times this past week my horn honks when I try to activate the cruise control . Needless to say the cruise control does not work when this happens. Any ideas what is happening here? Thanks for any input.

sounds like a bad clockspring or a pinched wire behind the airbag

The cruise control switch is the culprit. Where I work, we had a CV come in for the same problem except that the horn would blow all the time. The owner removed the fuse to make it stop.

Just my .02 and then some.

Back when I worked at Ford, a long time ago, the CV's came out with multiplexed wiring, meaning that more than 1 on/off signal was carried on a single wire. A fun trick at the time (I was young...) was to push the on and the off of the cruise control buttons so that both sides of the switch contacted at the same time. The result was the horn blowing due to the multiplexed wiring.

So, as mentioned above, sounds like you have a bad cruise control on/off button that is leaving the off side of the switch contacted at all times. Should be a fairly easy fix for the dealer.

Just disconnect the battery -- problem solved.

Hey, you wanted the horn to stop, right? It stopped.

viking-Thank you for the 411, do you think maybe electrical contact cleaner might clear it up?

Trust me on what I posted, please.

it could be the formiculite switch on the botton for the cruise control that activates the dissernal selenoid. :D
