As you guys know i'm trying to buy an 04 from Mercury in wayne N.J.

me 28,900 because i'm an out of state buyer. Have any of you guys
herd of this? One more thing he told me was you either get 5000 cash back
or 0% intrest. Is this true? because his hitting me with 7.49% APR.
Here is the deal.

Sounds like you are getting the wrong end of the stick. How much was the deposit and can you get it back if you back out? There have got to be others around that will deal better than that with remaining inventory.

Yes - You get the rebate or 0%, can't have both. :(
As far as the out of state resident, it is possible that the rebate is localized and you must live in that area. :(

I strongly suggest you try North Park Lincoln Mercury in San Antonio, Texas. You can get a brand new 04 for $24k + tax and shipping. Even with that and options like a spoiler, moon roof, shipping, etc., your total will still come well under $30k. I ordered mine a few weeks ago and it arrived last week in perfect condition.

I suggest you move quickly, they've been selling out fast. They only have 10 left.

Also, they'll reserve it for you for only $100. They're very friendly and easy to work with. I didn't even see my car prior to purchase and it was just as anticipated.

Get it back. They are trying to screw you. It's not a local buyer thing. that's crap. They can match any price advertised for anyone, and now that they think they have you they are trying to jack up the price.
Find another dealer. Before you go, read this site:
http://www.carbuyingtips.com
I learned lots here, and so will you.
Tell the dealer you are leaving (after you have your money) and tell them why. The more people stand up to them, it may perhaps lessen the chance that they will pull this crap in the future.
Maybe.
Thanks,

Be patient, slamn. A patient buyer is one they cannot mess with.
Take your time. You may wait a couple weeks, but which would you rather do - have it now and spend extra? Or wait a couple and get a deal?
Patience.

I left $500.00, yes i can get it back.
I don't like the sound of the "deal" or is it a shuffle, although,
1. many of the rebate incentives are DSO dependant. For instance they needed to have my zip code for our local rebate/deal.
2. You can have the rebate OR the 0% interest, but not both. In our DSO, if the rebate was selected then FMC was offering 3% for 60 months. That was in August.
Anyway I'd say get the $500 back and call the guys in San Antonio.:twocents:

They can and should give you your money back. As mentioned it is 0% or the rebate but if you have good credit you should be offered less than 4%.

Well, rates are up these days. Anything 7% or less is pretty good. 5-6% being very good. I don't know if it's even possible to get less than 5% anymore.
I do know that NPLM will give you an additional $1k off if you use Ford Motor Credit. Their rates are a bit higher than other outfits, but it's still not bad at all.

First,
Visit the MercuryVehicles website and check on the financing and rebate deals.
Print them out along with the regulations and bring them with you to the dealer.
If they still continue to feed you the crap you've already heard,
then just get your deposit back and leave.
There are plenty of dealerships from which you can get a Marauder.
If they don't have it in stock, they can get it from where ever it is available.

they hooked me up with a credit union down there... paid $5 to join. got me 5.something interest and it was cheaper payments than taking the $1k from ford. sounded good to me. :)

There is STILL 0% financing from FORD Motor Credit.
Its on the Mercury site, and I got it back in January when I bought my Marauder.
0% for 60 months is the sweetest sounding deal I ever made...
Now if I could only get a 30 year Mortgage for that rate, I'd be set...

If you already own a Mercury (any year) you should have the dealer look for a "owner loyalty" rebate ($500 but is not widely known rebate). I had an '88 Gr Mar with over 150,000 miles that qualified, I only had to show title with my name on it and the registration. The dealer found this rebate 10 days after we made the deal, but the day I was able to pick up the car (they had to deal with another dealer and then have it delivered -- my closest dealer was 20+ miles from my home)!! So make sure they inquire Mercury about it. About the $1000 rebate it may be that "certain residency restrictions apply" as the small print on commercials say.

"2004 or newer " means you can refinance from whatever the dealer loan is. That's how I did it. It was 3.49% when I bought in a year ago. Make the best deal including rebates etc with the understanding that you will finance through the dealer. As soon as you get your finance contract, refinance the car through PenFed. Easy peezy.

What I don't understand is why would you refinance at a HIGHER interest rate
and at an additional cost to you ?

I don't follow you.
If you're referring to my experience, I bought the car with dealer financing (something around 6%) so I could get all the rebates thereby reducing the total cost of the car out the door. THEN I turned around and refinanced at a rate 2.5% lower. What additional cost? There aren't any "closing costs" for refinancing a car loan other than the time it takes you to fill out and fax the forms.
This method keeps everybody happy (expect Ford Credit). You get the best price and lowest rate. Dealer gets their kickback for initiating the loan. Win/win.

If you want to know the latest incentive details, check www.mercuryvehicles.com (http://www.mercuryvehicles.com) and look under 2005 Grand Marquis. Not ideal, but should be close. Or call Mercury 800-521-4140 and ask them directly to confirm the '04 Marauder (Grand Marquis) incentives, because you don't believe your dealer.
So, if you want to finance, the current (2005 GM) incentives are:
--$3000 (and regular financing rates) *or*
low financing rates
--another $1500 off if you finance through Ford Credit

Hey guys and gals,
so much info:confused: How do you keep it all straight? All ford incentives are based on the buyers billing ZIP CODE and yes the prudent method is to take Ford up on "BONUS CASH"$1000.00 additional rebate to finance through Ford Motor Credit.after 30 days you can opt for Paying FMCC off and arrange financing else where.I cant see how the selling $ can be reduced by 13000.00 since even including holdback and profit and rebates arp and all is 11500 hdwrench you must have wore a mask to get that deal:D

Maybe he had miles on his as well....:dunno:
I got my '03 on 2/03 for 8,200 under sticker. I got extra money off for the 2000 miles on the odo.
I just can't believe the prices of the '04's some folks are getting. I used to get kudos for scoring 27,600 back in the day...now I AM jealous.
I didn't use my A-plan, nor my X-plan, because at the time, with incentives, 29,000 was is good as it got.
Financing rates are based on your credit score, and a good financeer will check many banks for the lowest offer. Anything over 700 points, and you're an instant winner.
My loan on my 98 Gran Marquis was an awefull 10% because of a prior credit card fraud upon me from a nice car jacking, wallet stealing moron.....long story...
I manged to get 4.3% on the Marauder. Not good either, when the wife got 3.2% on her LS plus all the incentives. I put 14k down, financed the rest, my payment is 256.56 and I believe I have 23 payments left.:P
Long story short...I AM THE PROUD OWNER OF AN '03 300A....BLACK!:coolman:

I just went on there website and i noticed no black.
Your dealer is trying to get as much out of you as he can. Talk to the other dealer, get a price, and tell the dealer with the black that for the diff in price the red is starting to look like a very appealing color.
Take the rebate, and finance threw a credit union. When Mrs TR decided to get hers, our dealer found a credit union that beat our credit unions rate.
Also, there are members here that have good used cars for sale. Some have a good deal of the mods that you will want eventually already installed. Factoring that into the equation, you could potentially save 10 to 15 thousand or more in the long run.
If I didn't already have mine, I'd be jumping all over Buckwheat's first MM. I've seen it run, and I know he takes care of it.

I tried to buy a Marauder from this dealer as well, about 6 months ago. Did not seem easy to deal with. I got about the same pricing. Ended up finding a used one that I purchased from another dealer. Funny though, the dealer I purchased the used one from told me I was competing with someone from out of state and that they actually gave me the car for less because I was in state and that transferring title and other paperwork involved with out of state deals was not worth the hassle...who knows.
