I am in the process of building the motor from hell for my 99 CV and am trying to decide if I should use the SOHC or the DOHC, I really want to use the 4V heads but I seem to remember reading that when they built the Marauder they had to use a different Master cyl and Booster as well as a new heater box to get the DOHC motor to fit. Does any kwon if this is true
Thanks

IMHO, it would be easier to purchase and modify a PI-headed 2-valve 4.6L block, rather than deal with any fabrication or clearance issues of trying to install a Marauder block in your '99.
Should you go forward with your DOHC swap, you might very well be a pioneer.
Please keep us posted on your progress.

I agree, as I am also putting a 5 speed in the car I am in for some fab anyway. I just don't think I can get to the HP numbers I want with the SOHC heads and still be streetable, I have been talking to the Cobra guys and they are where I want to be, 500+ RWHP

Not sure if you are on CVN or not, but one member had over 500HP with his 4.6L 2V Mustang GT block and supercharger.
Ask MM.net member JerseyVics for more details.
In addition, CVN member 95crwnvic54 is installing a 5-speed and a 5.4L V8 in his 95 Crown Vic. Might want to get in touch with him.
Again, please keep us posted with your progress.

You can get to 500+ rwhp with a 2V. 2V heads won't flow as good as 4V heads with the same amount of work on them. But, they'll flow enough. 2V heads may have more low end torque which is what I think you'd rather have with a heavy vehicle. There are also more aftermarket parts for 2Vs (intakes, heads, etc.). You can also check out www.corral.net for some more info.

Thanks for the link, I have not seen that one before.
I have been looking at what it would take to do the 4V swap, just the electronics would be a nightmare so 2Vs it is.
Thanks

1st off the 2v is better at making torque so leaving in there anit such a bad idea
2nd you would need some serious fab work since the engine bay was inlarged with the suspension changes in 2003, the 4v heads will not clear the firewall. however it has been done, the bondurant racing school had 5 or so custom modified pre-2003 cv's with cobra engines and 5 speed trannys
Your best bet if you really wanna to a swap is 5.4 4v engine with a van manafold.
good luck in whatever route you choose though

Bondurant has 18 CV all of which are for sale, I was going to buy one but they are bodies in white, no vin # and no smog cert and they want a signed statement saying you won't put it on the street.
