This is the start of the Florida Highway Patrols program RADAR = Rid Aggressive Driving and Roadrage

Florida has a specific statute for aggressive driving trust me you do not want to be issued this ticket, this citation will have multiple offenses on the ticket such as following to closely lane changing 15 MPH over a posted speed limit,*

Because of the aggressive programs over DUI the fatality rate has dramatically dropped but right now more people are killed by aggressive driving, and all Police agencies are going to be enforcing this, with a no exception rule.

So again I am proud to be a part of this was a once in a lifetime event for me, and I have never met a finer bunch of dedicated Men and woman of the Florida FHP.

Are you going to be involved with the maitenence on the MM Cruisers?
It would be nice to get some real feedback on how much N/A Marauders can take.

Congrats! The FHP Silver MM you had at the open house was AWESOME! Getting to see all the gadgets up close without being cuffed was a bonus.... ;)

Overall a very impressive program...now I will have to be careful about speeding up to catch a fellow Marauder owner.....he may be waiting to issue me a ticket! :help:

They had a story on the FHP Marauders on the Radio this AM. One of the guys said the Marauder allows them to "Blend in" with the normal traffic. What? As a Marauder owner I am always on the lookout and if I see 5 in a week that is a lot......

What will more than likely happen will be....."Thank you for the ticket sir....By the way what kind of car are you driving?"

I would venture to say it is only a matter of time before one of "Our" Marauders meets one of the FHP's......hopefully it will end well.....if they can take the fact "Ours" have more of Dennis's stuff on them! ;)

Eric

The news people called and I said it was a motor out of a Mach 1 or a motor similar to a early model Cobra Mustang and I also told them the speedo says 140 not that it will do it, but no matter they got there point accross.

Dennis,

Congrats!!!

Do the FHP cars have the small spoiler? My guess is no.

Also, what bits and pieces of your stage 1 and 2 kits did you actually put in? Gears, engine, CPU, tranny, etc?

I doubt I will ever meet one of these cars but it will be good to know what the FHP went with. Also, would you happen to know why they chose certain items?

A news piece says that they do 150. I believe that this is true, 'technically", but I have a tough time believing that an N/A Marauder is going to pull from 125-150 the same way it does from 100-125. Is this a correct conclusion? I guess what I am saying is that I know how our N/A MM's pull above 120 and it isn't exactly with a lot of gusto. Are these cars that much different or do the really pull up to 150?

I think it is cool that these cars are being used. I wish that this had happened earlier and before the MM was killed.

Two last questions, I heard that these cars were donated. How many were donated and by whom?

Thanks.

Dan

Maybe a little OT but since the FHP are using these....and may spawn others....Has anyone heard about the replacement or retread of the Panther platform? Will that happen and when?

Picked this off cvn...

A Dateline video reporting on street racing. Its 8+ minutes / 44Mb that briefly discusses the FPH's program:

http://nikita.arheim.no/Dateline_Street_Racing.wmv
(right click/save-as)

If you just want to see the FPH Marauder part, scroll to 4 min, 55 sec.

The report demonstrates the audacity of these punks and their total disregard for the law.

Just today I saw a little bit of this while almost getting bumped from behind by one twit racing another twit on I-35 at 100+ mph in moderate traffic. IMO, a Marauder is a perfect highway stalker.

"I think the cops are scared and a little angry", huh? That guy needs a reality check.

Anyway, enjoy!

I saw one of these guys (Silver) yesterday pulling speeders over on Mc Mullen Booth Road in Clearwater.

Talk about blending in. Had I not known about this program I would have never known he was a cop. On my way South bound he had a guy pulled over so I saw the red/blue lights. On the way back North bound howverer, he was simply sitting perpendicular to traffic at the entrance to a development. I knew he was there, the car automaticaly caught my eye, and even after passing by him I still could not tell he was a cop......these guys are gonna "Get er Done" with racers, ricers, and crazy drivers.....Kudos to the FHP .....It's about time.

I think that we need to find the "tell" on these cars. There must be some outward visual cue. The next time you see one look hard for ANY external antennaes, how many and where they are. Our cars have none.

Also, I saw in the photo that they had no front plate. Was that the photo or is that the way the cops do it? Does the state require a front plate? Is this a tell?

I, for one, would never want to be pulled over by one of these cars. Of course, I would only need to worry about that if I went down to Dennis for a Vortech (which could happen). Regardless, if we can fifure out how to spot them easier we prolly should.

Dan

Amsoil_Dealer
12-22-2004, 07:58 AM
Florida does not require a front plate. Rear plat does identify the car as FHP but by the time you can sse that, you are pretty close (at least I am with my old eyes).

I didn't see the antennas. I forts saw him 1/4 mile away and could not see antennas that far any way.

The moral of the story is obey the law and you don't have to worry.

The "giveaways" are easy...

1) Unless the guy is breaking the law, and/or has found a tinting shop that will break the law as well, the Marauder that has dark (20%) tint all around (law enforcement vehicles are exempt from this law) is definitely a suspect. (I like that, "suspect". He, he. :D )

and 2) The lights in the grille. I've had a few UCLE CVs behind me before and you can spot 'em several blocks away in the daytime and almost as far at night in a city around the parking lot lights and such. The dark tint looks like "limo black" at night as well.

"All too easy."

Oops, that's what Darth Vader said just before Luke jumped out of the carbon freeze chamber.

I hope "Mo" got hers. I was coming out of the Hess store after gassing up one day and she was eyeballing my Quicksilver. She said she wished they'd give her one to drive. I started to ask her for a date but she was on the hunt. Went over to some ragged out ricer tonka truck and stuck her head right inside for a big sniff. Bloodhound.

Sick 'em Mo! I need a woman like that. They bring home "company" handcuffs every night. :D

I recently noticed the FHP Marauders have a front license plate with an American Flag/Stars and Stripes theme on it. And yes, I realize the thread is two years old, I'm just late to the party.

What's wrong with my computer. DR's post brings up a site called Mercury Gallery" of fine art paintings, not a slide show. The other posts pictures are just red X's and don't open up into anything.

I would like to enjoy whatever it is your getting, but how?

I wonder if they have been invited to MMIV? I think there is a car show scheduled, it would be cool for us and probably good PR for them is some FHP MMs could attend. Any thoughts one way or another?

This has to be on someones schedule to try and get set up for MVIV---they have got to be in front of and around us somewhere during this event-----they would feel put out otherwise....and we don't want the FHP to feel put out-----so if you guys haven't considerd these folks........well...........I bet the message is clear.......and I'm late as usual ...cause I'm sure it's already been considered and coverd for MVIV.....good luck ........
