how do they sound vs the stock mufflers? louder, deeper, etc inside the car and out

well, its a much deeper stronger sound. its not obnoxious at all. inside, its a little louder, but the kind of increase in tone that you will like..gauranteed...i dont have a drone , i only really hear it when i get on the gas, i had the windows down tonight to hear it, its impressive compared to stock. if youlike the way the car sounds stock, imagine the same growl, but deeper, a little louder, it sounds very muscular. i was worried it would be too loud and i would have a annoying drone...but i am extremely happy and would reccomend it highly.

Good call. I love mine. The sound they make with the resonator-delete tips is just exactly what I wanted from the car.
Enjoy your mean new sound.

I currently have Flowmaster 40-Series Deltaflows + Megs delete tips. I really like the sound, but I want it louder. I'm soon going to replace the Deltaflows with Flowmaster 40-Series "Original" Flows (the loudest muffler Flowmaster makes) and some 3" dual-walled SLP tips I ordered a while back. There is drone with the Deltaflows, and I expect more drone with the "Original" Flows. But remember, I LIKE drone.

I had the Delta Flow 40's on my 99 SOHC Vic and they sounded real sweet, but between 40-55MPH in OD the drone hands out headaches. After that I got the Borla system and it also sounded good, not as good or loud as the flowmasters, but it also did not have the drone.

I had no mufflers, then 40 series flowmasters, now no mufflers. I liked the flowmasters but they lacked the "shock and awe" harshness of the lack of mufflers. And with the resonated tips it is not overly loud unless you ask it to be.
(this is my only real mod, and contrary to predictions my 1/4 was better w/out mufflers 15.4 with 15.1 without, both at about 74 degrees, at the same track)

Wow, that's awsome. Did you stick the tips a little further out in back? Some of the guys say that's the secret to living with the extra noise.:D

no, i didnt thought about it, but i really dont notice much of a drone...i want to hear something inside louder than stock, so im ok with it.

Did you keep the resonated tips on??? How straight forward was the install?

I have the deltaflow 40s on my crown vic. I absolutely love them. It is indeed a much deeper, more throaty sound. Definitely turns heads when people hear it. :)
I would suggest them to any and everybody who is looking to increase their car's exhaust note.

Where do you get the delete-tips from? I'm going to throw some flows on, but do not want the resonator tips disturbing my music.

I work in Richardson 5 days a week, if you would like to hear mine sometime
let me know. I think before you spend the money you should "hear" what
your buying.

Went to a place in San Jose, California...
Two Flowmaster Super 40's (3 chamber?) , $60/each,
plus $100 install.
Not sure where the "Super 40's" fall into the loudness scale,
but they are pretty much what I expected and hoped for.
At idle, you can't hear a difference...a litte goose on
the throttle produces a moderate rumble, not too obnoxious.
Cruising at 40+, interior sound doesn't seem louder, or slightly
at most.
They could have been a little louder overall and I still would have
been happy. I'd prefer them to rumble more at idle, but so far so
good.
The loudest internal effect is probably around 1500 rpm at a slow
10-15 mph.
The owner quoted me $75/each for the mufflers, but while
waiting, a people from the other auto garages showed up to
watch, saw them back out my car, rev it up, and park it out
front. The guy ended up grabbing a couple extra customers so
he told me he'd take off $30 from the tab. Woop!
So, where do I put my Flowmaster decals?
Power-wise, I can't really tell if there is a noticeable gain.
(seems like it, but the new sound also helps it seem that way)
Topped off the tank, and I'll report mpg effects.
Overall, Superflow 40's are probably not loud enough
for most. I wanted (and for paranoid work reasons) just
a slight increase in note. I was actually worried it would
be too loud, and as it turned out, the final effect was softer
than I expected, but still within my desired limits.

I Simply want a growl, not a a roar (Unless I want it to!) from my exaust. My t-bird has flow 40's (standard not delta) with no cats, x pipe, and it is waaay to loud, I mean, back in high school it was great, but now, uh uhh....not working. I just to make a little extra noise....not a ton. Also, no friggin drone! anyone else had luck with no mufflers? I did that on my bird and bye bye went my back pressure! Also, anyone else had luck with borla? or what about magnaflow or thrush turbo's??? Thanx! Lates....
Dennis Stiles
BTW, on the issue of sticker placement....
It gives my phone more rumble with less drone!
