Mike Muldrow, just purchaced a new MM from NPLM in San Antonio. He lives in Jacksonville and has posted a thread about having it shipped from San Antonio back to Jacksonville. Here's where we can help out with a poll. He can fly to San Antonio, pick up the car, and drive it back to Jacksonville for a fraction of the cost of having the car shipped, never mind the huge grin factor. What should he do?:dunno:

Mike,
Absolutely....GO GET THE CAR AND DRIVE IT HOME!!!
The first miles on your car's engine are important for proper 'break-in'. Although 'break-in' is not as critical today as in the past, you still DO NOT want most of your early miles/run time accomplished by IDLING or WOT.
Also I would not trust anyone but me driving my new MM! The first impulse the guy loading your MM will have, is to floor it and see "what she'll do".....Also not good for a brand new engine.
Drive her home and VARY the highway rpm through gear changes/OD 'off'.
Enjoy the ride! :) :D

If he can swing the time off from work or couple it with a long weekend ... this would make for a great first road trip in his new MM. "Just Do It" as they say .... :D

It's either save now, or save later. I'd rather save the miles now, and spend the money to ship the car. Figure this...it's probably I-10 straight through the deep south. Bridges, rivers, lakes, tunnels...who knows what animal you'll hit on the way home. Just talk to Ken about his grill. December weather, probably rain, dirt, grime. There goes that shiney engine. Not to mention all the trucks, rocks, dings, etc you'll get on that 1,000 some odd mile drive. How much is a new paint job, and windshield?
Then again...your tractor trailer carrying your Marauder could hit a deer, or a gator and wreck in the medain and destroy your car.
I guess either way it'll be exciting!

I waited to vote or reply until I knew which "Jacksonville" we were talking about. There's only one San Antonio.
Go get her, it's the only way to say welcome home.

I think that's a stupid question. OF COURSE he should drive it home. Anything else is abusive. He needs the grin on the stock machine BEFORE he gets tied up with the aftermarket stuff. We can help him with that, too!:banana2:
