I'm just loaded with questions. Now how can this car shift faster if I manually shift it? It seems to work alright going from 1st the 2nd, but it's still delayed. I don't know much about if you can make shifts faster in an auto tranny so I was wondering if it was possible.... while manually shifting it. Oh and sorry for the last post I was just asking a simple question and some people went off like I said God was a joke or something. I didn't realize how big of a deal it is to ask for someones opinion. I guess I have to not mention companys in my questions anymore. So anyone know of shift kits or anything? I really doubt theres something. Again SO SORRY! :bows:

"That's not a Toy Young Man!"Leave it (Big Black thing in the middle)Alone!................. ......The Marauder won't go any faster by doing it that way.I think Baumann makes a shift kit and theres the J mod do a search and see!Great info at your fingertips;)

Correct me if i'm wrong, but their's a chip or flash you can have done or buy for the shift points.

SCMT-1725, SCT Flash, or a custom tune from one of the great ones here.
The transmission is an awesome piece of machinery that knows how to do it all by it self, and fast too. Don't work against it, work with it. :beatnik:

Get an SCT Tuner or Chip and 4.10's.

That'll fix it.

I don't know much about if you can make shifts faster in an auto tranny so I was wondering if it was possible.... while manually shifting it. No, not really...if you follow the others' advice ^^^ and get a chip or a PCM re-flash (either from a reputable dyno shop with SCT tuning software, or by buying one of the SCT hand-held tuners from one of our vendors) the transmission is MORE than capable of doing a very nice job all by itself.

Either that, or do the "J-mod" (http://www.tccoa.com/articles/tranny/shiftybusiness.html)...I believe Dennis sells the parts.
So anyone know of shift kits or anything? I really doubt theres something.Actually, there ARE shift kits available for the 4R70W, but one of the principle designers of the transmission is not in favour of them...this link (http://forums.modulardepot.com/showthread.php?threadid=4121) explains why...scroll down about ½-way and look for the reply from "SCT Guy" and you'll understand.

I think one or two members here have shift kits from Baumann, but I don't know anything about them...the only really "approved" modification to the transmission is the "J-mod".

Thank you. I am planning on the 4.10's and a chip or tuner. I might go with superchips. Someone told me theres one chip where the car gains 27 hp and the superchips tuner only gains 19. The tuner seems better because of the options you get and not just a simple plug in like the chip.

Someone told me theres one chip where the car gains 27 hp and the superchips tuner only gains 19. Don't believe everything you hear...there certainly ARE companies who claim fantastic gains, but...you are better off listening to the members here who have DONE these mods...a chip (or the SCT tuner) from Dennis, Lidio, or Wes WILL give you the performance they claim...some of the others?...well...you MIGHT get more performance, but the tune may not be as safe...
The tuner seems better because of the options you get and not just a simple plug in like the chip. The tuner lets you make your own changes without having to send the chip back for a re-burn, and, perhaps most importantly, there's no evidence of tuner use should you need warranty assistance from a less-than-friendly dealer...

That SCT guy really knows his stuff.
Convinced me. He notes to change trans fluid every 21K miles?
Do you guys agree with this?

Yes. These transmissions run hot, so it's good insurance. I change mine every 3rd oil change (15,000 miles) with a filter every other time. That may be a tad overkill for an N/A car, but it's so easy to do since I installed a transmission pan with a drain plug...

I do.

I bought a deeper pan from Ford Racing that adds two quarts to the tranny fluid, and a magnetic drain plug. When ever I feel like it, I stop by my dealership and ask them to simply drain the pan, and top off the system. I may not be getting all the old fluid out, but this reduces the cost of a tranny service, and partial refreshment is better than none at all. Once the tranny fluid does break down, it's much more expensive to flush everything out, and it's also probably too late in preventing any tranny damage from burnt fluids. I know this is a bit nutty, but I'm comfortable with it as preventive maintenence.

Sarge,

Will you please share the Ford Racing part number?

Thanks.

Draining the trans is an excellent idea. I also change the fluid about every 3rd oil change. Usually takes 3 to 4 quarts depending on the vehicle. After the second change you can notice the difference in the fluid. It is much cleaner.
