Is Royal Purple worth using and if so what grade should I use? I know the car runs on 5W-20 but I haven't seen one. Do you really gain NOTICEABLE power outta this or it only like if you replace all the fluids? I have been using Castrol GTX and thats working well. Any opinions on it?

I have not noticed any discernable power gains. I have noticed the engine runs quieter and smoother with Royal Purple than the MotorCraft 5w-20.

Royal Purple does make a true full synthetic 5W-20, and it should be just fine for your car...no, you won't notice any difference in the way the car runs. RP is rather expensive and can be hard to find in some places, but if you have easy access to it, knock yourself out. Just be advised there is a vendor on this board ("Amsoil Dealer (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/member.php?u=1498)") who I'm sure would be happy to sell you Amsoil 5W-20 for a MUCH better price than you can get RP for...
For future reference, the only TRUE synthetic oils that are readily available and reasonably priced are Mobil 1, AMSOIL, Royal Purple, and Redline.

Amsoil is a vendor now? Man-oh-man, very cool, thanks, Bob. Maybe we can get him a forum of his own for all this oil related stuff?

Honestly young man, if you spent as much time starting your threads as you would have reading the former posts....you'd have your answers!
There are 134 threads on synthetic oil....there are 500 threads regarding oil in general, and nearly 50 on the topic of "which oil" to use.:shake:

Amsoil is a vendor now?
Well, Mac...actually I mis-spoke...he's not "official vendor" like Dennis, or Trilogy, or TCE...I meant that he's a member here and is an AMSOIL distributor, whom I believe has offered discounts to other members...
I apologise for any confusion...the error is all mine.

No sweat, Bob. With all the promotion we have heard here, I got confused myself...

If two Big Guns like Rf & Sarg Mac think Amsoil is a vendor, Maybe that is a sign that he ought to be.Makes sence to have consumables and his expertise on hand.I would be inclined to use some products.
