I'm sure most of you have seen this photo and the others, but I was wondering if anyone had done this? Not the nightshades tail light treatment but putting the S55 under the rightside tail light.

The concept car was a convertible with a 2V 4.6L and Eaton blower. The pics in this thread are of Roush's SEMA car.

Thanks Mac,
This one threw me.How comes the power rating is so much lower than the Eaton on the Trilogy cars? The engine compartment on the SEMA car is stunning!

I wouldn't put the S55 on mine 'cause it might cause unneeded aggravation or key damage. In this area, there is a street gang called the "Fifty-Fives" and they are not too keen on non-members using their logo. I have no idea how widespread that gang is though.

Hwycruiser,
Thanks for the S55 link. That S55 was really cool. Mercury should have added some of those items to the production Marauder. I especially liked the painted/polished Alcoa wheels, the upgraded F/R brakes with the red calipers. Did you notice how they detailed the tail lamps, center back-up lights and painted the Mercury trunk lid emblem. They're all body color. Just goes to show that a small amount of money (relatively speaking) can do for a car. I think that the S55 SC engine's HP is ony pegged at 345 because they were considering it for production. I don't think they would have ever considered a 450 HP SC engine for the production Marauder.

Jim,
Yes, you can tell some care went into preparing the S55 for the show. I agree, the blackout treatment on the rear lens adds a little something extra... details that usually doesn't make it into the production parts bins.
I was searching the gallery and found Petrograde's nightshades treatment:
http://www.mercurygallery.net/mmnet/data/500/1111After_Nite_Shades.jpg
Pretty darn skippy. IMO, gloss black would be a little closer to the S55. IIRC BigDogJim had his taillight lenses painted similarly. Also, Torinodan had his portions of his front lens painted similar to what is shown on the S55:
http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=13561
I've been looking real hard at the silver / pewter (??) wheel treatment on the S55. Much more details in the pics to absorb all at once. But could one get fairly close to a clone? I think so too. Of course, a Trilogy blower painted Mercury red in the crevasses would top it like a cherry.
IMHO a project worth taking on which would definately result in one kickass Marauder, one which could wear the S55 badging with pride!

S55 option back in the day came with bucket seats, console with floor shifter, rear seats had the bucket look, nicer detailed door panels, side badges. An array of engine options were available. It made the car feel more personally custom.

i'm an old-timer and can remember when 'bucket seats' first came out. the sporty mercs in 1962 were called S55 (fords were galaxie 500 XL). the comet started it for merc with the S22, the merc version of the Fairlane with bucket seats was S33. so calling the MM prototype S55 just harkened back to history.

Funny, I've just been thinking recently about adding the "S55" graphic myself. I'm definitely plan on doing it.

Yeah, the exhaust tip placement looks like what I had done to mine. Wish they came like that from the factory.

Wow, they really should have made that. I think we need to get in contact with a Project Manager at FMC and have them bring it back for one more year at the least. Then make it a special high-performance/high class version if it would only be for one more year. I'd like to see it rolling out the factory with 400-500 horses under the hood(5.7L???), 20" rims, low profile tires, 3.90 or 4.10 gear ratio, 3.5" pipes instead of 2.5", moonroof, navigation/dvd/500watt sound, 6 cd changer (up front), heated front and rear seats, heated steering wheel, dual zone climate control, rear climate control, signal mirrors, satellite radio, traction control, rear entertainment, power adjustable pedals, map lights, HID lighting, air filtration system and then the standard goodies.
Maybe distinguish it from the CV and GM a little bit with some more exterior chrome, something like the exterior chrome on the 300C. Adding the chrome to the mirrors would be a nice touch, chrome the grill and that should do it.
If Chrysler can do it for under $50,000 (SRT-8) I know damn well that FMC should be able to as well.
I know I'd be a definate buyer, just my 2 cents and a little more.

Rollin' on 20's? On the Marauder? 20's would look silly...unless you're from some shady part of an inner city. Then they're "Bling Bling". 18's are perfect for the vehicle IMO.

His name is Steve Babcock,... Unfortunately, the PM can't build anything without permission from the 'bean counters'
I'd like to see it rolling out the factory with 400-500 horses under the hood(5.7L???), 20" rims, low profile tires.
The 5.4L will not fit in our MM's without extensive modification to the whole front end. ..and I'm not even sure if Ford still makes the 5.8L (351W) ..anybody?... if they do, it'll be for truck applications only.
20" rims are a little big for hot rod applications. ('bling' factor aside) Not to mention... our stock 18's weight about 65 lbs. a piece. 20's would obviously weigh more. Our cars are heavy enough, no need to add weight that won't produce HP/TRQ. :P
Maybe distinguish it from the CV and GM a little bit with some more exterior chrome, something like the exterior chrome on the 300C. Adding the chrome to the mirrors would be a nice touch, chrome the grill and that should do it.
my 2 cents: no more chrome... Less chrome. I'll be getting the ROH Fury's in black with the polished lip when I decide to upgrade. But,... to each his/her own. I've seen MM's with more chrome (i.e. grill) It looked good ,.. but not for me.
If Chrysler can do it for under $50,000 (SRT-8) I know damn well that FMC should be able to as well.
I know I'd be a definate buyer, just my 2 cents and a little more.
LOL,.. yeah,.. you'd think so huh? I'm not trying to dampen your spirits. I'm just trying to say: don't hold your breath waiting for Ford to wake up. I'd be truly shocked and amazed if the Marauder came back.
I'll tell you what I think is slightly more likely to happen: The Ford Blackhawk SVT. The souped up Crown Vic. ...even that is unlikely as hell,.. but more likely than the '07 S/C Marauder.

You can get some 20" rims that are lighter than 65 pds, but 18's would be nice too. I like a little of both worlds, a little bit of go-fast and bling. I could care less if they didn't do none of that, just bring it back, 1 year at least.

I was just reading the Ford news at BON, it doesnt look promising. To sum it up; Ford thinks big engines are a fad and pulled the Hurricane project to invest more money in the V6 engine development. The Hurricane was to me Fords answer to the Hemi.

:Offtopic: Time to put this back on topic.
My rear tail / reverse lights will be painted in night shades style silver. Instead of "S55" I will have "T65" on the left tail light :D
