Anybody polished thier intake manifold Upper/lower, or both ? Did you document any substantial gains?Does anybody know if someone has done this to a trilogy equipt Marauder?Anyone offer this besides PHP?

I polished the upper intake on the outside strictly for bling. The lower intake was cleaned up internally and ceramic coated inside and out. Though no internal dimensions were changed, the ceramic coating did smooth out the air path, and I hoped it would keep the air charge cooler as it passed through. I added the PHP spacer too.

RWHP and RWTQ gains were under 10 each, however, the power curve in 1st and 2nd is a lot stronger. IAT temps dropped and I'm now at or within 5-7 degrees of the ambient air temps. While this is good, IMHO, this is strictly a bling mod.

You say "cleaned up", how is this different from what PHP does W/ injection mold process.Is there gains to be had by carving out for more volume less turbulence that you know of?By the way I did E-mail Paul on your suggestion.Thanks

I must have mis understood .The pics are awsome I was curious if the inside gets a polish or injection treatment to smooth/improvethe air path I got a reply from PHP and he claimed that the gains from intake treatment was not that impressive.I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with this .

I had a ported and polished intake plenum on my 99 CVPI SOHC...what was I thinking :dunno:

Our lower intake was taken from the COBRA V8. It is already supposed to be polished on the inside.
The limiting factor is that it is not PORTED.

If you have the lower intake Ported, add the single blade throttle body,
and get a larger diameter Mass Air Flow, you'll imrpove your intake flow.

Then you'll need to improve the exhause side to make room for all this extra air...

DAMN... THAT LOOKS GOOD !!!

Now the $64 question... How do you keep it looking that way ???

The polish work is by Larry at www.mirrorlook.com (http://www.mirrorlook.com). Give him a call and he'll discuss member pricing. He would like to be a vendor here, but that depends on customer volume. Larry has swept top honors at Chicago's World of Wheels (Autorama) for the last 9 years, and he's excited about working on Marauders. Lots of custom polish and trim work is possible from Mirror Look, check Larry out? He did a great job with my MM wheels.

Both the upper and lower intake sections are rough cast, and crude in their fit and finish as OEM parts. Larry knocked down rough edges and stuff, but he did not "port and polish" the intake runners. Once he got the surface reasonably smoothed out, creamic coating fills in pores, and it all adds up to improved surface with additional resistance to heat, but this treatment does not deliver much more high performance. It's only step one in an intake experiment and more steps are planned, but for now, best to say it's just all bling.

I have no idea how a Cobra lower intake is prepared, but I've seen a few Cobra engines at PER, and none looked much different from mine, so, I kind of doubt that they get any special treatment from the factory. If this is the case, you can pick up a Cobra lower intake from www.karkraft.com (http://www.karkraft.com/) for a lot less than the 1200+ bucks Paul wants to extrude hone and polish a Marauder lower intake.

Larry also polished my Vortech blower, and he did much better job than Vortech. These highly polished surfaces are bare metal, and they are suseptable to scratching and marring. However, any jeweler's polish such as simichrome polish, will make it show ready in a few munutes.
