Thanks for that info Jimmy. But my guess is that they're not going to allow just anyone drive it. I would think that with a car like that, they want to see how much your salry is, and what your baank balance looks like before they'll even let you behind the wheel. :(

Just thought I'd pass on a note.
And yeah if they did that to my dad for his Cobra, then they'll do it for you too:D

They even do that for a $35K Cobra?? Now that's rediculous. I can understand them doing that for the GT, but not a Cobra.

Remember if you buy a warranty from the dealership that you are going to get serviced at, It might not be a bad Idea to figure what you think a fair profit is for the dealer to make. That is of course , if you has acess to that information and you care if the dealer makes a profit or not. That being said What kind of extra effort can you really expect to get from the dealer, if something fell into a grey area with an issue on the car..

Bradley GUhmmm, Brad, did you write the post above^ in the correct thread? I only ask because I'm failing to see what your comments have to do w/the Ford GT. Perhaps I'm missing something here.

I think all in all, with the convertible top, the Cobra came down to just under $38k. He said they get kids who want to test drive it all the time and since they only had 2 left and they were selling them like hot cakes (Had a few more in previous weeks) that they wanted to make sure he was serious about buying it. My dad didn't mind complying and it took all of a few minutes and we were off for a test drive.
My dad let them sit on 37,xxx whatever it was for a day or two as well and came back and they still wouldn't budge, but he got a 6 year 60,000 mile on it as well. Then he gave us the blah blah blah about how he couldn't sell us that car for any less but it was coming down from some crazy $40,000 anyways so. Oh well!

I guess it all boils down to supply & demand, as well as the customer's timing. If you go to a dealer who doesn't have many of the cars in question left to sell, and/or they've sold a number of them in a relatively short time frame, then you'll find them to be unwilling to bend on the price. But if you happen to find a dealer who has a number of the cars in question left hanging around on their lot, and they haven't sold many of them, then as much as the salesman in question might play head games and go through all manner of posturing, at the end of the day (or perhaps the following day via a phone call to you) they'll be willing to meet you halfway on the price.
It's like that dealer in SanAntonio Texas last month reportedly letting new 04 Marauders go for $22K, while a year ago you probably would've been hard pressed to find such a deal anywhere. And ofcourse this brings us full circle back to the beloved Ford GT.....since the demand of that car will likely always be much higher than the supply is, walking into a dealer and hagling about the price I'm sure will be unheard of. As far as that dealer making those demands of your Dad, I still think that's rediculous since your Dad is no kid. I can understand if they did that for teenagers, or people ion their 20's, but for a middle aged person, well, I just think that's out of place for a $35K car. If the potential sale had to do with a Ford GT or the like, then I can understand. But atleast your Dad wound-up w/the car.
