I have been in touch with the 300C club and the Impalla SS and we are getting a race day together. I would like to know if you guys would like to invite them to our event during or should I plan for another day with them? I know we had some of the Impalla club show up at MVII and it was fun. I have posted a poll to gauge interest in this. Thank you.

No I will not say it is. I just was limited on space for the question and some of the folks feel that it has taken on that moniker.

Hey Darrell,

Thats a fantastic Idea!.Way to be on the hunt for spicing up our future!AttA Boy!My only request is that we don't have so many partisipants, that we won't get much racing in.I know we got rained out at MVII, but I only got three passes as it was. If we have a much larger turnout than MVII, I will prolly see less than that!I still like the Idea maybe racing can be a two day dealie if there is enough support!Way to represent!Members; Are you interested in promoting our cause?Or, are you in the way? Bradley G

Ok, before everyone gets out of hand on this post, as of right now this isnt open for discussion. While we are planning this as a big event, let me get things rolling before we complicate it more. I have my hands full already with planning and as of right now I am only concerned about Marauders. As has been posted on both threads about this event, If Logan thinks this might make for a good MVIII, so be it. I would hope that he takes into consideration that we have well over 80+ people willing to attend this event. I think this thread is premature and not really an issue right now.

:D We'd like to attend the Detroit event, MV III official doo, or not. Thing is, and I'm agreeing with Bradley here, I never get to go heads up with other Marauders, or see them in heads up racing, and can run against other cars all day long at my local strip. Fewer guys = more runs. I mean we're talking 50+ Marauders, Right? I want to see Legal Kaneval run Lido, and, of course, get another crack at that darned Charlie/Bluerauder. :duel:

I'm not disagreeing with you, Mike, but I am willing to post ...OTOH.

Sharing friendship and competition is not an easy thing. People who are good friends first can usually pull it off, but among us here, it doesn't fit, IMHO. It just leads to more "king of the hill" stuff, and that usually leads to hurt feelings and loss of friendship. Legal vs. Lidio? Look at the cars again, Mike, it's not a race. However, getting a "traveling trophy" back from the SS guys, now that's racing. Zack and I are very good friends, and I will not line up against him, because it proves nothing between us. It does leave things open to hecklers, please think about it? Team Marauder?

To be a member of Team Marauder that has MMs running in all brackets, that's quite another story. Bring on all comers, we have an MM in your class. I say we form a team and, let the rest of the world sit up and take notice. Isn't this the theme for the other events in planning?

Again, not saying yes or no, or, good or bad. Just looking at another way to think about it all.

I remember this being brought up at the meeting. Perhaps Bigslim is just feeling the water, but true, tis early since the event as whole in relation to MV-III or otherwise is still yet to be carved in stone.

As an option of WHAT IF's...I liked the idea last week and like it now as well.

Like Dave said, we'll see down the road. As far as competing with Marauders, those of us lucky enough to attend prior local and national MM event get plenty of that. Getting a taste of 300C matchups in a controlled enviroment, with Ford L/M watching....unique,,,,and priceless.;)

I will vote yes in the future as well, be it part of the MV-III, or one of the many MotorCity projects.

I appreciate your insights, and without the perspective of the group's past issues, it's easy to miss the nuance of some of the things being hinted at, or why Logan gets so pissed at what seems, to the first time viewer, to be trifling comments.
I was thinking, cars like Zack, Lido, and Legal Keneval were all 11 second machines, and it would be a hoot to see 'em go head to head, but never considered anybody getting bent out of shape over a drag race. Of course I've been doing it for more than 45 years and by now, just get a kick out of hanging out and seeing the enthusiasm of some of the guys. (Jet, Barry, and the fatbastad, come to mind) In the past, I've driven, and busted, some damned fast cars, but now, spectating & hanging seems to suit me best. It's just, I'm well beyond having anything to prove, prrofessionally or otherwise, and so, get to observe from a much different prospective than the younger crowd I much perfer to hang with. Used to be, I liked the older guys, but there aren't many left who like to have a good time any more.

PS. You're allowed to disagree. just don't call me a neener neener boogerhead. ;)

:Offtopic: Sorry guys.

Thanks for everyones input. I was just feeling the waters as to if this could happen. I just want to let everyone know that even if it doesn't happen at the time of the Dream Cruise I will still be setting something up with those two clubs next year for a good ole fashion race day.

Darryl is right on about setting up that kind of track days. It was one of the things discussed at the meeting last week, and will happen, and we will be there! The track is not that expensive to rent and the Marauders will take on all comers, including the 300c's. I have the information and will pass it on to Darryl to set it up. its hard to imagine, but 2005 is lining up to be even more jam packed with Marauder events up here!

Although its too early on this as Dave said, I'll chime in by saying that I'd rather make the match up with the 300Cs, Magnums, and SS Impalas on a seperate race day. The week we are planning will be jam packed with stuff to do. And "Track Day" is just that...a day to get to the track for those that enjoy it. There will be other things happening as well (such as cruising woodward en masse at night), so there is no need to cram too much into the track day.

Not only that, but a match day against the "other guys" seems like it would make for a better seperate event altogether.

BTW, those who are prone to getting their "feelings hurt" when racing will be encouraged to just sit it out. Fankly, not being able to race a friend or acquaintence without having your feelings hurt is just silly anyway. Dave and I go to the track a lot (with many other marauders folks as well) and no one ever gets bent out of shape. I suppose it's just a maturity thing.

I like the idea either way.

I don't know if things are too packed. But maybe we could have a marauder day and a other (300C, magnum etc. day)

Just a thought.

Mike is right, in all the times I have whomped his azz at the track this year, he has never gotten bent out of shape once!!!

My typing is a little slow, (Only went for the cute girls and dropped just as I realized the potential negative effect that the class might have on my grade point.....you too?) still trying to figure out spell check, but I hope this is still relevent:

Hopefully still a fresh thought, For the proposed MVIII, if the turn out is going to be very large you need to consider Marauder participation and available track times in addition to the abuility to have quality interactive social time  . Every Marauder that comes to the event should be encouraged and have the oppertunity to participate in all of the planned functions, not just the drag track, as It appears the Marauder turn out will be well represented. I also understand not everybody will be the whip ticket modified, but hopefully all Marauders will want to participate in all aspects of the events during the multi-day event. How better to hook them in! Ensure everyone has an oppertunity to race equivalent experience and/or vehicles while being exposed to those who have taken a giant step for "marauderkind".

Than, at another time there could be an event created at the race track, the Michigan Two Ton event, all on its own and invite them all. Bring on the magazines, press, and the intrest of the car companies.

I would like to something along these lines. But if is going to take away from MM having fun by having the event too big, I am not for that. Hell I still wish thier was some way to make a MMVIII that all could go. Nothing against the idea of possible of having it at Detroit. Just would like for all to be able to go. I will leave that thier.

I would luv to have a chance to put "Bumbsy" against who ever and just have fun. To enjoy the spirit of good fun and freinds!!! Isnt this why we all gather here on this forum in the first place????

Hell I still own the title of slowest MM in the South. But wouldnt change that for anything becuase I had more fun just meeting some old friends and alot of new ones!!!

And to race Barry and watch him see "Bumbsy" fly down the track as he can nothing about it. Toasted his but!!!!! Of course I had someone take out the air in his tires right before we raced would help!!!!!

Just my :twocents:

I am the guy here in the MCM`S that would really like to see a heavyweight shootout,After Five0 won the 12.99 and under class at Atlanta I think the time is right time is right this year for such an event. As far as the Dream Cruise our day at Milan should be all Marauder.Last year at Indy there were "Grudge Matches" and nobody said anything about the results mainly I think because the Impalas that were invited were "*****slapping"everyone at the track.(Even the S/C cars in bracket racing)The Impala guys have ten years on us and alot of bubbles were burst that day about how fast our Marauders really are.Now for next year things are changing with more Marauders gaining more power through who ever the choose(Kenny Brown,Dennis,Lidio,Procharger, )The time is right for an event.Even with our new found power we will still not be able to hang with the Impala"Big Dogs" there in the nine ,Ten second range but they are a small % with the rest being eleven second and up.This could be a huge event plus throw in the 300`s it has the making of alot of fun.Question is? where and when. :type: :blah:
