Hey Guys! Nobody told me that doing burn-outs with my Marauder would decorate the rear end and exhaust with tiny bits of rubber! D'oh! What a mess! :D
Ok, I followed the past threads on mud flaps for the Marauder, and got a lot of good info. I was wondering if anyone had an update on the best fitting/looking flaps. Has anyone tried the flaps for the Grand Marquis, (F8MZ-16A550-BA) for the rear or is the flap for the CV still the best choice, (F8AZ-16A550-CA) ? Why not use the Marquis flaps? Isn't it the same body as the Marauder??
Thanks.

When I bought flaps for our Marauder, the dealer let me hold some GM flaps up against the rear fender. The profile was different. The CV flaps fit exactly in the rear, the GM fit perfect in the front.

I was wondering this myself.

Clarification:
The Front mud guards from FORD are for BOTH the CV/GM and fit the MM.
The ONLY rear flap that fits an MM is the CV one. Trust me with 2 MMs and Both with flaps, the GM ones DO NOT FIT the MM.
If you want to get fancy, use 3M clear X-PEL (8mil) on the inside rear fascia BEFORE installing the REAR mud guards on an MM.
Best wishes,
GordonB

Thanks Gordon. That's what I needed to hear. Now I know which ones to get with certainty. Cool!

Don't do it! :soap:
Every cop on the highway knows our cars are fast. They'll all be saying. "This guy must be doing lots of burnouts to be putting those ugly mudflaps on his car. I think I'll get a few cars behind him and see if he doesn't notice me. Been a while since I wrote a 402."- Barney Fife
Rub some parafin on your fenders back there when you head over to the racetrack (I'm sure this is the only place you really do that since it's the only legal place to do a burnout  ) and those little boogers will knock right off easy.

After Merc's doo at Hagerstown I didn't wash the Boogers off, and showed 'em to everybody, with pride. They looked real good on my Silver Birch MM. :D

You know, David, that's really a good idea, (lol). That's one of the reasons I love this site and forum. It allows members to help me think in, uh... trajectories I hadn't considered before... Hmmmm.... rather than make the rubber tidbits not happen, just make it really easy to remove them. Brilliant! :D
P.S. It might still be good to have the mud flaps though... for all those da** sprinklers that get the road wet and cause road afterbirth to be splashed on my shiny MM! Makes me want to go up to the front door of that offending sprinkler home and say, "Look what your sprinkler did! Now, go clean off my MM!"

Didn't the rear flaps that fit have the FORD OVAL engraved on them? And that is why most of us are merely using the front ones since they are not engraved?

Someone please tell me that this isn't the case!

Yes they have the oval on them but it is very small.

To all,
1. The Ford flaps for the rear have a VERY small ford oval embossed in them, BUT IT IS NOT noticeable. To do be dissuaded from choosing these. These fit the best , but are actually a tad small to protect the car during burnouts, IMHO.
2. Some people use WD-40 or Vegetable spray (PAM) before drag racing -- spay inside and out of rear fender wells, rear fascia, and pipes. You can also use contact paper on the outside of the rear fascia.
Cheers,
GordonB
