View Full Version : Who Would Like To Help Mark With His Hole In The Block?

Thought I'd start a new thread on this. Of couse I'll be there. Ray
Ok, Sgt. Mac called me about this thread. I hadn't even seen it yet. He asked me about getting everyone together to help Mark out. My friend and the only one that has worked on my cars for the last 20 years has offered his shop and his services to remove and install the engine for your car. You get the engine, people from this site get together for a weekend and we'll do the job for free. My friends shop is JD'S Performace in Huntingdon Valley Pa. He's about 20 minute from my Dealership. He does tons of performance work and restorations. He has a chassis dyno and all the latest tunning stuff, even for the 2005 Mustangs. He is a authorized Trilogy Dealer. He just purchase the Roadforce Tire System. He has people come from all over the country to his shop. He restored Jackie Onasis 52 Roll Royce for a customer in Fla. He is willing to donate himself and 2 employees to do the job. If anyone would like to come and make this and east coast event, that would be great. His shop is ten minutes from the Pa turnpike and has hotels in the area. His web site is www.jds-high-performance.com. Mark, let me know how you feel about this. I know you will still have to buy a motor, but at least we can install it and tune it for free. Ray :banana2: :banana2:

There's no way I could make it over there to physically help, (too far away in MI) although I know I would love it and learn a lot in the process. However, I would like to donate financially towards the new engine/block... (whatever is determined is needed in the end).

We have a thing like this at work (UPS Teamsters) called the Sick Pot. Whenever someone is so sick or injured that they cannot work for weeks at a time we all pitch in and pay the injured guy's weekly salary to him, (because the company sick leave pay takes so long to kick in...). Since there are so many of us, it's hardly noticed by those who donate, but helps out the injured guy tremendously.
The way I see it, Mark's car is sick. If we all pitch in just a few dollars a piece we can make it all better! :)

Feedback please.

But then how do we know what the monetary goal is and if it's been met? How about if we post "pledges" on the forum here. That way, we'll all know when it's close to success... I mean, that's the way the Jerry Lewis marathon works... with pledges. Then, when the amount has been successfully raised, mail your donation to Mark. Easy.

You could all mail checks in Marks name to me at the dealership and I could post a total each day. When it's over I mail all the checks to Mark.

I'll pledge $25.00 for Mark's new engine, (Merry Christmas!) right now, (maybe more later if needed).

Anyone else?? :D Come on! Show your good will and holiday spirit. This must be terrible for Mark. I'd be huddled in a corner right now if it had been mine.... A little bit from each of us can help Mark have an even better holiday season.

AWESOME! I was really touched by this pledge.. I mean, this is what this holiday season is all about... giving. And it doesn't have to be a $25 pledge either....

I haven't met Mark, (yet) but I can surely feel for him. And I know that if we can sell out raffle tickets for a S/C in nine days at $100 a pop, then we can pitch in a few dollars to help out a fellow member!

<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->__________________

That's what I was wondering too. That's a good question......I'm a bit confused by Dennis's post also. Someone starts a money donation drive to raise money that I thought will go directly to Mark to help him out, and for him to use however he sees fit in order to get his Marauder back on the road, and in perfect working order, and all of a sudden this post is made by Dennis mentioning his labor w/out there being any mention of whether or not it has been Mark's decision to employ Dennis for the rebuilding of this engine.

I'm pledging $100. Usually in a case like this I wouldn't advertise my good deed, nor how much $$ I was donating, but the only reason I'm doing so here is simply because I'm hoping that for Mark's sake, others will do the same, because it seems to me that Mark has a long way to go in order to afford a complete engine rebuild. Right? However, I'm also sure that there are people here who've already pledged a lesser amount than that, who are making a bigger sacrifice than I am, and therefore my hat's off to them. I'm still very curious about Dennis's post. Specifically if this is Mark's choice, but either way, my pledge stands. More power to ya Mark.

Yes, I agree that Mark can do whatever HE wants to do since we're all giving to him freely. Mark's a fantastic guy, and I'll support him in whatever decision HE makes. but since none of our money has even been sent to him yet, and we're all still in the pledge mode, I'm just a bit confused about this post of Dennis's, since there wasn't any explaination to go with it. And it seems a bit pre-mature. Unless ofcourse something else between Mark and him has been worked out, but nothing like that has been mentioned by either party.

Billy I talked to Mark yesterday and he is fully aware of the treads and helpful efforts that the MM.net members has bestowed upon him. It’s not every day that a Miracle on 34th Street plays out in reality. I encouraged Mark to post something, but at this time he is just overwhelmed with all that has happened. Many members have written, called, and sent him PM’s concerning his problem. I can’t imagine what is going on in his head, but I do think he will always remember this Christmas. :santaw:

Well then, now I'm beginning to wonder if Mark has even seen this thread yet, or if he's even been made aware of the fact that a "Get back on the road" fund is being raised for him. Has anyone told him about this yet?
I spoke with Mark last night, about 8 PM Chicago time. He's aware of the effort on his behalf by "The Dealer," Ray Snyder Sr. of Northeast Lincoln Mercury, a board sponsor with us here, as well as fellow members of this club. I cannot say he's read this here thread, it wasn't mentioned specifically.

Mark is quite overwhelmed by all of this. The kindness and compassion of his brother MM owners is a gesture he's not had much experience with before, on the receiving end anyway. I know that if I were in his shoes, I'd be speechless too. To y'all who have chipped in, you are fine men and women, and you have my admiration.

There's a lot of work for Mark ahead, and in areas he is not experienced in. He'll have to act as a general contractor is a way, and I suggested that he seek advice on the engine repair from Dennis, and I've also gave him a few other numbers to call, pros who can walk him through the details of a block up build. He promised to get in touch with them, and Ray, this week.

Having just completed my own block up build, Mark is facing expenses in the area of 7500 bucks. That budget has been significantly reduced by Ray's generous arrangements with JD'S Performace in Huntingdon Valley, PA. But, Mark still needs to call the shots and the development won't happen overnight. This is quite an undertaking, even for the mechanically experienced owner.

Bravo, and my sincere thanks to everyone who has pitched in.

I've sent my PM to Ray.

I think the idea of a failure-fund is a terrific and generous thought but I think that direct case-by-case appeals like this eliminate or at least minimize the potentially controversial aspects of a general fund.

I am quite impressed at the response.

on page 2, post # 27 Marauder Mark says that DR will be picking up the car and taking it to his shop. This post was on Dec. 17. So, yes DR knows what is going on. Mark talked with DR and made this arragnment before this thread was even started. This offer by the dealer is great. However, I can't blame Mark for wanting to have his car go back to someone he has delt with before and trusts.
My pledge stands, wherever Mark has the car fixed. Merry Christmas to all.

First off Thank you each and everyone that started this and the great people who made contributions. you are truly beautiful and me and the misses love you all very much as much as my brothers and sisters .i allways said this is the greatest site on the web and this proves it..ya know nobody has ever done anything like this for me EVER!! So i really dont know how to react or what to say .i mean i'm on the giving end never receiving..i dont know how i am going to repay everyone but i will as no good deed should go unjust.. God Bless Everyone of you!!!!! With all our Love MarauderMark and MarauderPeg....

To answer some of your question::
I had no idea this thread was going on until Mac called as i had posted my intentions what i was doing in the other thread.Reason i chose that way of repairing was i figured since i spent that money with Dennis before that maybe he would fix the car and let me pay what i can when i can.which he readly agreed to(Another Great Man!!!!)and be able to build the car the right way so i won't have to worry about this in the future.Which was at the time the only option i had.Other wise i was going to have to put a pos motor in there and drive the car like that or sell the car which i really did'nt want to do this is not what you do to these cars.I love this car look at all the friends i have it breaks my heart......
If anyone would like to converse Please call me anytime as i allways love to talk to my brethern.Maybe i souldn't post my # here but i am listed in the mm.net white pages .Again God bless everyone !!!!

Mark, if you need any help or anything at all give me a call.

Ray, Chris and I will donate $50 to the cause, if that is what Mark wants to do and will accept the contributions. Just let us know when and where to send the money. It will also cost him some money to ship his car to Dennis if that is the route he is going to take.

Well this is great. I'll total up the pledges in a minute. Myself throught JD'S Auto have offered our services and his shop to do this job. If Mark wants to go to Dennis, that's his decission. Whatever he decides is ok with me, it's his car. Since Mark is in MD. and not that far from Phila., I though maybe a local member with a trailer could offer their services to tow Marks car up here. It's a lot closer than Fla. Whatever happens I thank everyone for helping this member out. Ray

If I figured correctly we are at $1275.00. We need to be at $2000.00 by midnight. I want to see a $1000.00 a day until we get to 6k so Mark can purchas a bullit proof engine. $25.00 won't hurt you, you blow that much without even realizing it. Come on people step up!!!!! :bows: :bows: :bows: :bows: :bows:

It would be great it Mark gets enough to buy a good engine and get it installed and tuned for free. If someone can trailor him to Pa., he would have no money out of pocket and nobody that pledged even missed it. We are Family in the city of brotherly love. Thanx to all that have pledged. If you haven't yet, give, there is no greater feeling in the world than to know you helped someone. When I do my "Support Our Troops " Cruise Night, it gives we great pleasure to hand that money over to the National Guard. Some day when I gone, at least I know I didn't just exist, I helped others. Mark, Sorry to hear about your engine....I know what it feels like to have a mortally wounded engine.
Then just sitting there waiting for a tow truck and thinking about what's happened and how much $$$ it will take to fix it. :(
Ray, I've got $50 for "Mark's Rebuild Fundraiser"

Yeah...Me too. One of the reasons I got involved in this to begin with. I've spent some major roadside downtime thinking the same thing..."What have I done to her now?" Thanks for posting what I felt, Joe.

Some days, I'm on top of the world, some days I'm not. It's nice to know that I have friends on both days.

Y'all...Helping Mark is strictly voluntary. Maybe some of us are in good days, but to those of us who are not, don't sweat this. No one here is keeping a tally of who pitched in, and who did not. Help out if you can, no problem if you can't. There will be another call out from someone else another day, and that will be another chance to step in and help out. When it's a good day to step in, K?

There is some notice of our help program at other sites, and some admire what we're doing while others laugh at us "rich guys" and "tools." Maybe they get it, maybe not. So what. I'm proud to be a member here, and happy I could pitch in. 'Nuff said on it all, eh?

Let the other sites say what they want. I belong to several other websites dealing with Fords and some of them are nothing but constant 'flaming wars' between members. I'll only go to those sites to 'Search' information that I need. I don't want or care to get into a big pi$$ing match over everything.
That's what I like so much about this website...Everybody (pretty much) gets along and tries to HELP each other.
Maybe most of do have more money....Most MM owners are older and have more discretionary income. At least we don't have ANY primered rags with half-a$$ ground effects, patched together exhaust sytems, and HUGE tachs bolted to our dashs.
How many guys like Ray Sr. do you run into on the other sites??

Agreed....nothing against Barry, he's a great guy.
But a new nitrous system vs. a hole in your block.
The 'holed' block is an immediate and far more expensive need.
