I want to put on Flow Master Super 40's. I am worried about inside noise at cruising speed? My wife is ill and sensitive to noise increase. If you have these mufflers will you verify internal noise increase?

I realize I am a voice of one of this net, but the Cobra shorty headers and X-pipe WITH the stock OEM mufflers gives you a good throaty exhaust noise and snarl that is very nice with NO cabin drone above normal low radio volume. If you do not like the set-up then it is easy to proceed with the Flow Masters or Magaflows. Believe me this is a nice compromise with power advantages that most people do not believe.

I assume by Cobra Shorty Headers that your referring to DR kit with ceramic manifolds and x-pipe?
I thought the DR kit was only ceramic manifolds and were not actually headers. Please clarify. Not looking to flame anyone just want to make sure I understand it all.

I have no problem with sound on the inside ( I have 2 chamber Flows) but they do tend to drone. Maybe a 4 chamber set up might work for you!

These are true Cobra shorty headers in the Ford Racing catalog with the Cobra Magaflow hi-flow X-pipe and CATS - #93333. The X-pipe has to be lengthed 4" to compensate for the longer MM wheelbase. They can then be connected to the stock mufflers or after market.

I have Flow Master Delta Flows on mine, with the stock tips. I "HAD" the stock mufflers for awhile with the DR kit and delete tips. Didn't quite like the sound, so I swapped mufflers. In the process, the tips became to short, located about 2 to 3 inches shorter than there stock location. The drone and noise were almost unbearable. I tried the stock tips again, still too much cabin noise. Thanks to help from the people on this board, I had a piece of pipe put in to move the tips slightly beyond the bumper, and the drone and cabin noise went away. If your wife is subject to noise levels, I'd keep the OEM stuff and go with the DR cobra manifolds and hi-flow cats, everything from the OEM mufflers back stays in the original position. You can always have a set of delete tips installed for additional tone, again, making sure they are at least installed in the correct loacation, or slightly move the tip away from the end of the bumper. I don't now how much the Kooks set up changes the cabin noise with stock mufflers and tips, sorry.

Put a Trilogy supercharger on your Marauder, then the desire for for more sound from the exhaust, will be superceded by the desire to hear the whine.(Not from the wifey) :D

I had the Flowmaster 40's (I don't think they were super 40's) with stock exaust for over a year (have since gone with the shorty headers with x-pipe from DR and flowmaster 50's. Todd from Grand Muffler in Marietta installed it. Great shop.). I liked the sound and at cruising speed the drone was not bad at all. You will hear them when you put your foot into it though. If you extend the tips that should help even more.
By adding the 40's to the stock exaust improved my gas milage.
By the way - I did not like the sound of the 40's with the shorty headers. The 50's, to me, sound better.
Hope this helps.

I have Flowmaster Super 40's with stock tips. No drone inside
and plenty of sound outside. Recently had the woman in the "toll booth"
run for cover during a "WOT" take off.
Gotta Love It!:rasta:
