I'll be needing new rear tires this summer, and have been thinking about replacing all four. I was considering getting Pirelli PZero Rosso Asimmetrico in 255/45 up front and 255/50 in the rear, on stock wheels. These are listed as summer tires, though, and I'm wondering if this will be a really bad idea in the winter. I'd prefer to not have to go with seperate summer/winter tires if possible.

Am I going to get myself killed trying to drive these in the winter? Anybody have any experience with them in snowy/icy conditions? Feedback and opinions welcome.

Can't say how they'll run in snow. Will they fit on the stock rim width?

If you thought the BFG's were bad.....:shake:

I wouldn't do it, but then again, how much snow do YOU get out there?

Am I going to get myself killed trying to drive these in the winter? Yes. Please carry next of kin data on your person. Any more than .5 inches of snow will disrupt traction and control to a dangerous level. The width of the contact patch will cause the car to be pulled in 4 directions, and you won't be able to steer or brake out of it. P-Zeros are performance tires, not all season radials. If you check the TireRack, you'll see they have no winter rating at all...Zero.

I'm on my third set of P-Zeros and I have to say they are a great performance tire, perhaps the best tire for a car as heavy as the MM. They stick like glue on wet and dry pavement, and they are probably the only tire to race on when it's time to race in the rain. Outstanding performance, yes. But, they wear fast. They are not economical, and if you are not prepared to endure this short life span of 10-15K miles, look for other options.

I cannot say this strong enough...If you drive in snow, you will die.

Thanks for the feedback, team. Guess I'll have to find another solution.
