Hi Jay,

I've been looking around the 'net for a water resistant prefilter (ala Outerwears or KN PreCharger) to fit my JLT intake assembly. Do you have the specific part number for the S&B filter in your kit? It seems that all the sites need a filter part number to determine which prefilter fits. That being said, is there a specific product you might recommend?

Outerwearz is a good company.
S&B part # is R40-09AAFPS
Measurments are
Filter top width 5 1/4 "
Filter height 9" not including the mounting flange.

If you get one, get me a part #.
Thanks
Jay

Thanks Jay. I ordered a water resistant Red prefilter over the phone with Outerwears. I'll report back once it arrives. BTW, when ordering, the S&B part number isn't helpful. They just need the dimensions. I noted that the S&B catalog doesn't list the filter base width (widest point before the mounting flange) and I wasn't about to unscrew it just to measure so I eyeballed it at 7.5". If that turns out to be too big, I'll have to try again.

How much was it?

$21.55 + shipping

I was thinking that you might contact them and find out what it would cost to run a batch with your logo on them. I'd much rather have yours than theirs. :D

I believe this is the one that came with my PHP intake kit. It's nice, and well worth the money.

I take it off when I race...another cheat of mine....

Dumb question: Is the JLT kit NOT meant to be used year-round? Should it be replaced with the stock airbox in rainy weather? I'm wondering now wet it would get in the engine compartment.

But this prefilter cover sounds like it is meant to allow the filter to be used year round. (?)

Thanks for clarifying. I just assumed the unit as is was safe to use all the time.

Regards,

Norm

Outerwears prefilter arrived today. Part number listed on the tag is 20-1553-03. Don't know if you can order one using that or not. Its the "water repellent" version and it fits perfectly. Here are some install pics. Note the "eBay" heat sheild.

Can you give me a link to this heat shield? What is it made of? I figured at first you were talking about a single auctioned item, but if you both have one I'd like to get in on it as well.

Thanks!

Just did a search on ebay and it doesn't appear they have any running right now. Here's the one I bought: link (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7942912094)

The prefilter is from Outerwears Racing Accessories 1-800-967-3450. The part number for the one I had made is in a prevoius post in this thread. You'll need to call to order.

Can anyone confirm the claim of gains for the Plasma mod,This one does not appear to be as popular(on the board) as other mods.I know the claims are small, and 10 horse/torque gain may not be felt SOP.I though I read that this is not necessarily true.Anyone substantiat the claim?
