View Full Version : How much are you guys paying monthly for you M.M.?

First off, hello! My name is Jason. I am 33 yrs old, married, expecting my first baby boy next month, and I am new to the forum. I would love to own a Maurauder. I have owned Fords with the exception of a Corvette since I was 15. My first car was a 59' Custom 300, second was a 90' Mustang LX 5.0, third was a 90' Corvette, and now my fourth a 91' Mustang GT that I have totally customized myself. (ditched the ugly stock bodykit, tailights, and wing+did other mods.) Anyway, I am wondering what it will take to get me behind the wheel of the Marauder with regards to finances. I have thought that maybe leasing the car for two years and then choosing the option to buy would be better than trying to purchase immediately. I am not sure though what would be better at this point. I know it will be at least a year or so until I can swing this with the baby coming and all. It's just won't be feasable until my wife starts working again. Anyway, this may be a bit personal but I am wondering what your guys' monthly payments are and if you are leasing or if you purchased and how much you put down. Also, what kind of percentage rate did you get? Any help would be appreciated so I can get an idea of what kind of payments I would be getting into. I really love the car. It is the perfect family car as far as I'm concerned. My wife and I are both anti-SUV and she likes the Marauder as well.
Thanks for you input everyone!

I put 6K down, got 3.9%, $2k knockdown in price, and the mo. bottom line is 600 something. It's worth it to me because, fortunatly, I can comfortable swing the payment, child support just ended, all kids now out of the house. I think it'd be tough with litlle yard apes in the picture. But, if you can swing it, do it!! Don't wait too long, as there's rumors about discontinuation for '05!!!

Interest rates are in the 4-6% range these days. A $30,000 loan for 60 months at 5% interest comes to $566 per month.

My monthly is $518.00 through FMC. Don't lease the Marauder the residual is horrible. I used to always lease my Ford vehicles but it seems lately it's much cheaper to buy.

I traded, so my down payment is "open to interpretation." But with the trade-in plus the $2000 rebate (November), extended warranty, wheeling and dealing, I ended up with a $500 month payment.

In Sept, Ford was offering 0%, but only for 36 months...I took that with no down-payment (hey, it's THEIR money!), so the monthlies are fairly stiff, but I'll own it outright in 3 years.
Edit:
As usual, the wifey is right...we actually put 5K down to keep the payments down a bit...
Wife to me: "...don't you get tired of being wrong all the time?"

I am looking at leasing (taxes). It was a month or so ago...I need to go back and do it now, if they will hold the figure on a Silver one. I would have to check, and it was just preliminary (not hard negotiations), but if memory serves me correct it was about 520 a month for 36mos with a residual of somewhere around 14,200.
Using the advice given on this board some time ago, I plan on going in and negotiating a firm price on a lease then working the numbers from there. Anybody know how/if the rebate applys to a lease? or does it not?

Wow guys, thanks. That was pretty quick, but keep em' coming so I can get a good average. I was expecting at least a $600.00 payment. I can't believe there's talks of discontinuing in 05'! If that happens, It'll be the same story as the Impala SS. Has anyone heard about the SVT version?

Geez 93tealcobra, you sure have a-lot of toys!! You must have a good position at the Ford dealer you work for. I wish I could put down as much as you guys are saying you have. I won't get jack for my 91 Mustang. It's got a salvaged title (no chassis or body damage-engine fire). It would be nice to have payments under $400 a month but I doubt I can swing that.

I'm paying just over $500 a month, like $501 and change, actually. I got 5.75% from a local credit union. Decided to buy instead of lease. I plan on keeping this car for good long time.
[Edit: correction, that's 5.75% not 5.57%]

I don't know if this would work for you, but it may be an idea to others.
Bought my MM mid July, no deals, no offers. I paid sticker, plus a "gas guzzler" tax based on the retail pirce of the car. Add in customary taxes, title and license, and the bottom line was high, in comparasion to what's available now. Wish I could do it over again, but I have been smiling for a lot longer too, so, no real b**ch from me.
Payment came to 780. a month, which I could handle. I gave nothing at the POS, only my signature. Dealer threw in a free extended warranty (I'm a 20 year customer) and he waived my last two lease payments on a '00 Mountaineer, so, there was some kind of a financial bene for me, but I ate the whole ticket at retail.
In early Jan, the mortgage market was good around here, I refinanced my home at 5.75% and took enough equity out to pay off the car. I saved over 4K in anticipated finance charges, and my house payment dropped by 115. a month. Now, I know I'm still paying finance charges on the car, and over many years, but I'm paying several points less on both car and home loans, and that's now a tax deduction that almost a 100 percent refund for the first few years. I also have a clear title on the car, just incase I need a short term emergency loan, or I get really radical and build the car of my dreams. Would hate to have to continuing paying on a car that isn't running because I got carried away with the mods.
This car is not a value to you in any lease program, unless someone else is writing the payment check. Even standard GMs are not lease material financially speaking.
Anyway, hope this helps, good luck.

You and me both, Sarge. I bought mine June 26th and paid full sticker for it. Still, I'm not really sorry I didn't wait. As you say, I've had a lot of fun with the car from the very beginning. I knew what I was doing when I bought it, knew there was a good chance they'd be significantly cheaper down the road, but I was eager and decided it was worth it.
I have no regrets.

Life is way too short for regrets. I'd rather spend my time enjoying the car than trying to milk the last dollar.

JJTSYZFR1, I had saved for this specific vehicle for quite some time and as for the other vehicles they were all purchased over time seemed to have accuired to many. what a pain come registration time for all of them considering they are all due the same month.

bought on Dec 23rd.
paid invoice; 32,253. Subtract the 3500 rebate = 28,700. Put 11k down.
payment is 369.20 @ 6.25% for 60mo. Piece of cake. Local CU is offering 4.9%. Will be refinancing, needless to say.

I also paid sticker price. Took delivery in July. No regrets. As far as I know I got the first one in Southern California.
Like Sarge said, the mortgage market is good, and since that's how I make my living, I put about 40% down and am making payments of $1000 to $1500/ mo. Won't take me long at this rate to have it paid off!

Paid for mine with cash. Sticker was $34,800.00 with all available options except the power moon roof. Left the dealership paying $28,095.00. Brought it home the next day. Insurance on the other hand is another story. Pay $1,490.00 for the year here in NJ.

Thanks for all the input and advice everyone. This is an awesome forum! You are all pleasant sounding people. I am a member of a sportbike forum as well because I own a Yamaha R1 and some guys on there are very immature and rude. You guys are even nice to the Chevy owners!
Unfortunately, I do not own a home at the moment and have had a bankruptcy (Chapter 7) so even if I could get financed it wouldn't be at a very good rate I'm afraid. I may just have to wait awhile and if they discontinue the Marauder in 05', buy one used. Got a baby on the way in a few weeks and I'm not sure what will transpire over the next year. My wife wants to stay at home and I don't make a whole lot of money for where I live. Southern CA. is ridiculous as far as cost of living is concerned and the real estate is out of control in my area. POS 3 bedroom fixer uppers are 300K and over. I know we'll need a bigger car eventually and with my past of having mostly performance vehicles the Marauder looked awesome being a family size car with some HP and cool menacing looks. Currently we've got an 01' Toyota Corolla (my first Japanese vehicle) and we love it but it is a bit tight in the back, especially when you load it up with four adults. Who knows what will happen, though. I'm hopeful God will show some grace and grant me the wish of owning this beast someday. I'll still be cruising the forum even if I am not able to get a MM. I enjoy reading about this vehicle and hearing what you guys have to say about your experiences in ownership.

I was hesitant about spending so much per month on a car (I pay $400) when I could've gotten the Crown Vic Sport so much cheaper. But I REALLY had my heart set on the Marauder. As I was standing in the showroom making myself crazy, one of the service guys, an older man, said, "If you want it, get it. Life is short - be happy. The money won't matter in the long run." Yeah, when I write that check, it's like "Aaack!" but that's only for 5 minutes, and I get to enjoy the heck out of this car for a whole 'nother month. :banana2:

Financed $28K for 5 years at 4.3%
MMpridenjoy, you need to move to Cheesehead land. Its cold and the taxes are outrageous, but I own a 94 Suburban, 97 Suburban and 03 Marauder. Total insurance is $1230/yr.

JJTSYSZFR1...
Hear your Bro, thanks for sharing your story. I think we've all seen hard times, but they don't last forever. My 20-30s were really hard for me, but I made it through them. Nothing I have today would mean as much to me now, had I not paid my dues. As long as you have the right spirit, you're welcome here. There will come a time when your technical/personal experience will be valuable, owner or not. Pitch in your .02c, and hang on. We argue (respectfully) with the best of them.

As much as I want to reply here, MMP, you're mixing threads and that just makes it more difficult to make anyone's point. Please open a new thread, or restart the old, I have something to add there.
BChapman...The pinch in the pocketbook does drift away fast, I'm always looking for a reason to drive somewhere, anywhere, hell, I even run for the office lunch. But, they stopped that too, when the order came back raw.
I told them it was fast...

Well said, Sarge (1st part of post, I mean). As for K&N, some of the Ford techs a FlateRateTech.com don't have much good to say about 'em -- no experience myself, however.

i am paying 715 per month. at 0%. with a 10000 down. bad timeing i guess
I've gotta give $719 a month for my big black $36,000 habit.
Thank goodness I got the Ford X plan from my brother-in-law, who works at Ford HQ in Dearborn, Mich., to keep it reasonable.
I bought in Aug. there weren't options for Zero interest or rebates yet. Also, Tennessee has a freakishly high sales tax (No income tax though.) And, I couldn't put any money down, plus I had to role in the last couple of payments on the old ride.
It was worth it, even though it's higher than my rent.

I'm paying about half of what I paid for rent at my old apartment in New Jersey, but hey -- the MM is half the size of that apartment and a lot more fun to be in!
I had to go for a four-year loan - I couldn't swing a three-year one. And I haven't had a car payment in years. But Sarge is right - money comes and money goes, but the Marauder is forever. I'd rather cut back on other expenses than kick myself years from now saying, "I shoulda got it when I had the chance."
Think of this: A fully loaded Mini Cooper lists for $26,440. And you can throw that thing in our trunk as a spare.

I took the cheap route and got on the call list with my two favorite dealerships for a demo when available. Two became available last week. One locally, 5500 miles, young service manager driving it, and they would not budge off $27,900. That was with the $3000 rebate.
The other dealer, 50 miles south of me, had one with 2200 miles on it. 71 year old service manager driving it. He could not even recall taking it over 65 MPH. Bingo...I manage to get them down to $26,500 with the still available $3000 rebate, plus $500 owner loyalty. I had a 98 Marquis GS, got $6000 trade = $20,500 less $9000 trade in (my vacation fund), and I finance $12k something after taxes. 5.01 interest, I could not score better than a 697 on the credit check (magic number is >700).
My payment is 257.00 for 60 months.
I love the car and have not started to complain yet. But I am close, whats the deal with moisture in the headlites of Ford products?
