What to do with the resonated tips. :)
Nothing like a little practice with the mig welder to kill time.
Plus it quiets the winter beater down a little.

LOL!!!!...hey, I'd say that's pretty good practice on your part. MIG welding is supposed to be the best for exhaust work. And the MIG welding I've had done to the exhaust on cars that I've previously owned had never given out.:) BTW, does anyone know what "MIG" stands for?

Excellent job, those tips look good no matter where you put them.
Billy, I think MIG is slang for welding with an inert gas to stablelize the flow of molten metal, you wind up with nicer looking welds.

you might be a redneck. :D
The only thing stopping me from putting the other set on the dually is the size of the pipes.
I wonder how they would look on the Chevelle? :)

Billy, I think MIG is slang for welding with an inert gas to stablelize the flow of molten metal, you wind up with nicer looking welds.I know that it also produices a stronger and longer lasting weld, atleast on exhaust parts. I had it done in my 73 Vette on a place of the headers that previously kept breaking other types of welds, and the MIG welds held up for 6 years!!! I thought that "M.I.G." specifically stood for something, becase ther's also another type called "T.I.G." welding.

MIG stands for "Meg's Installed Good"....No actually It means Metal Inert Gas...I believe the gas would normally be Argon but as things get thicker involves adding Helium (my favorite vocal moderator) for a blended mixture. I think it is also called more generically GMAW (gas metal arc welding). TIG is for Tungston inert gas welding... have we reached TMI yet?

Likely good. I had a '73 that had glass packs that looked very similar. It was a very cool look.
I have that pic somewhere, but I'll have to edit that shot of me with the big azz mullet. :puke:
MIG and TIG: Metal Inert Gas Welding and Tungsten Inert Gas Welding. Those were/are still used but it was learned that not all gases used to shield the weld were Inert, hence the switch to SMAW and GTAW which is Shielded Metal Arc Welding and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding. I won this information in a poker game...

Most MIGs can be used without gas by changing to a flux cored wire. I don' t care for it as it makes a mess and not as pretty welds. After I got my migs, I gave the stick welder away. :)

My lawn mower dumps out the side. :( it would be a pain trying to get up next to the house. I bet it would make that 5 horse Briggs and Stratton a little louder. The neighbors would LOVE that. :D
