Anyone remember our MMs birthday? I recall the first 300A rolling off the STAP line somewhere around May 13th, according to a press release I can't find on the web anymore. I was told my MM arrived at the regional offices May 27th, and later deposited with my dealer for retail. I'd like to know her birthday, for the scrapbook.

Looks like Job 1 was 6 May, but "full" Marauder production didn't start until about the 21 May or there abouts

Thanks all, but it's not about my VIN or my MM. RC, you're close to what I am looking for, thanks.
I remember reading a press release on the web back in May '02, with pics and all, on the roll out of the very first MM off the line. I know I read this somewhere, I just can't find it now, and I'd really like to nail down the exact date the first MM rolled out...for her scrapbook. Thanks again...
Anyone?

Marauder buoys hopes at St. Thomas Ford plant
By NORMAN DE BONO, Free Press Business Reporter
The wraps come off the newest car at Ford's St. Thomas plant today, the high-powered Mercury Marauder.
Hope is running high the muscle car for baby boomers will save plant jobs, said Whitey MacDonald, chairperson of Canadian Auto Workers Local 1520 at the plant.
The Marauder, marketed as a second or even third family vehicle, might eliminate Ford's plans to slow production at St. Thomas in 2003, a move that threatens 150 jobs.
Ford had planned to slow production by year end at the plant, but with strong sales of its two existing models -- the Mercury Grand Marquis and Ford Crown Victoria -- it is pushing that back to sometime next year.
"Instead of restructuring, instead of doom and gloom, Ford needs to realize St. Thomas is a cash cow and any slowdown here will take profit out of the company," MacDonald said. "I feel real good going into 2003."
The Marauder -- it first rolled off the line Monday, though today is its coming-out party -- is a big reason why workers feel upbeat about the future, he added.
The Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis sell steadily to an older clientele, but the Marauder will sell to a new, younger market and that may mean more production and jobs, said MacDonald.
The Marauder -- packing a 302-horsepower, four-valve V8, performance-modified engine -- is marketed toward an affluent, well-educated driver married with children and with other vehicles, said Ford spokesperson John Arnone.
"It is part of a household. While power is important, it has a certain functionality."
The Ford plant -- which sells many of its vehicles as police cruisers -- built more than 200,000 cars in 2001 and production of the Marauder is slated to be between 15,000 and 25,000 a year, said MacDonald.
"We have always outproduced the forecast numbers. We have always had a loyal clientele, the older people who drive the Grand Marquis and Crown Victoria," he said.
Ford announced a worldwide restructuring in January, costing 1,700 Ontario jobs. St. Thomas production was to slow to 53 cars an hour from the current 63 by mid-year, then delayed to year end and now pushed into next year.
"It clearly relates to market conditions," Arnone said. "When we talk about adjusting capacity, we do so with forecasts in mind and there is now a strong demand for the Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis."
As for the production slowdown, if it happens, Ford is not certain when in 2003 it will occur, said Arnone.
"We need to fill the pipeline with new model-year product, we are working toward that so we have to push the line speed," he said.

Ford's St. Thomas Assembly Plant is a world beater
ST. THOMAS, ON, May 10 /CNW/ - Ford of Canada's St. Thomas Assembly Plant
produced the first 2003 Mercury Marauder this week, marking the return of an
iconic "muscle car" name to the automotive landscape. Marauder becomes the
eighth model built at St. Thomas Assembly, one of Ford's most enduring and
successful plants.
Located between the shores of Lake Erie and London, Ont., St. Thomas
Assembly has produced more than 7,000,000 vehicles since it opened 35 years
ago. In that time St. Thomas Assembly has won numerous awards and continues to
be the global source for Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis.
"Our ability to consistently deliver quality vehicles, on time, and at a
competitive cost to our customers, places St. Thomas Assembly Plant among the
best facilities in Ford's global operations," said plant manager Ken Ward.
"This is an achievement in which we take great pride."
The first Marauder shone in a lustrous black paint, with seats clad in
rich black leather and stitched with classic French seams. St. Thomas will
initially build about 18,000 Marauders, most of which will be shipped to the
United States where the four-door, V-8 powered, 302-horsepower sports sedan
goes on sale this summer.
Canadians can catch Marauder fever this fall when up to 550 models with
traction control will be produced at a price expected to be below $50,000. The
2003 Marauder's credentials include:
- Aluminum 4.6-litre 4-valve dual overhead cam V-8 engine producing
302 horsepower and 318 foot-pounds of torque with true dual exhaust
and 3.5" Megs polished stainless steel tips;
- Four-speed automatic transmission with a high stall speed torque
converter and 3.55 rear axle with limited-slip differential;
- Performance suspension, 18-inch forged aluminum alloy wheels shod with
ultra-high performance all-season tires (P235/50ZR18 front and
P245/55ZR18 rear);
- 225-kph (140-mph) speedometer, 7,000-rpm tachometer, temperature and
Autometer Pro-Comp oil pressure gauges and voltmeter;
- Leather-trimmed cabin, floor-mounted shifter and five-passenger
seating with "Marauder" embroidered in the floor mats and centre
console;
- Monochromatic exterior design with body surfaces finished in gloss
black paint, dark-tinted headlamp and tail lamp bezels, "Marauder"
embossed in the rear fascia and Cibie 80 mm 55-watt high output fog
lamps integrated into the front fascia.
St. Thomas Assembly is a 243,000 m(2) (2.6 million ft(2)) plant that
houses a body shop, paint facility, and 19-km long assembly line. Nearly 3,000
employees produce about 1,000 cars per day on two shifts. Last year, St.
Thomas Assembly produced 202,000 vehicles, virtually an equal split of Crown
Victoria and Grand Marquis models.
Ford of Canada's operations include a national headquarters, six regional
offices, six vehicle assembly and engine manufacturing plants, two parts
distribution centres, and affiliates including Ford Credit, Jaguar, Volvo,
Land Rover and Hertz. Ford is also a joint-venture partner in two Canadian-
based plants that produce aluminum engine castings. In all, these operations
employ more than 16,000 men and women. In addition, over 21,000 Canadians are
employed in the 515 Ford and Ford-Lincoln dealerships located in all provinces
and two territories. Last year, revenues for Canadian operations were $21.6
billion. Since 1990, Ford has invested nearly $9 billion in its Canadian
operations.

Now I'm confused again, I heard someone boasting that they got their Marauder on March 27th, 02. That can't be the truth, can it? The MM didn't roll out until May 10th, right? Dayum, I knew I should have taken the bet! Well, thank guys, appreciate the help on this
300Bs were Oct. 18th maybe?
Think there will be a 300C for the sliver MM?

If you still have your Window Sticker it tells the particular day your car was made. Lower right down at the bottom on the right side of VIN # is the date, that's what I've been told and seemed right on mine, it corresponded with the sticker on the door.

Actually I've discovered that date is just the date the window sticker and build papers for the plant were produced. The actual build date of the car will be later, and can be found out from the dealer in the data he has access to. The Ford system lists everything about your car, the actual build date, every part that went into it and part number.

Found that the two dates don't match my sticker showed 05/24/02 and my dealer showed 06/03/02. So it may be one of the first one's build.
