Welll the FHP came by today and I am going for a FHP ride along for a full shift tomorrow, I think this will be awsome, we talked a bit I never knew that if the FHP gets a flat or a nail screw what ever in a tire it cannot be pluged or repaired, it has to be replaced and BG Goodrich tires are about 165 a pop. I am going to do five more cars for the FHP so this is a great way to start of the new year.

Dennis, tell them that the OEM BFG's are $86 a piece at the Tire Rack, or better yet become a dealer and get them for like $56 a piece and be HERO again!

May be cheaper for them to go to 16" Steel wheels and tires and put the MM rims aside. For sure the steelies will hold up a whole lot better in police work and be more forgiving on running thru a ditch or going over a curb.

Have you ever pulled this trick? Right before shift change (in winter), squirt bear-shot pepper spray in the dash vents. When the oncoming pair get in the cruiser and start it up, WHAMMY! instant hillarity insues as the rest of you watch from inside the station.

FiveO
01-03-2005, 10:11 PM
No...never tried that.

Take home cars....my car was my only car and if I did that...I'd be doing it to myself.

Funny stuff for a regular PD though

I like to re-condition their winshield wipers with vasoline. Might be days before they discover it. Also the old pepper spray on the door handle after they have had a few cups of coffe!

For sure the steelies will hold up a whole lot better in police work and be more forgiving on running thru a ditch or going over a curb. But that defeats the idea of the car being stealth, so they can catch those "tuner" ricers doing 140 on the interstate for fun. These FHP Marauders are there for the RADAR program and everybody knows "stealth" is best for radar. :D

Bite your tongue anyways for even suggesting such a thing! Bad enough they put cop brakes on the thing (inadequate), downgrading the wheel/tire combination borders on sacrelige! :P

A couple summers ago, one of our local officers left a can of pepper spray sitting on the front seat of his cruiser while parked at HQ. Woulda been OK, except this was middle of the summer, in Florida. Not a great idea to leave any pressurized can where it can bake in a closed up car in direct sunlight. It exploded. Was quite some time before they were able to get the car to a useable state again.

Dennis, hope you have a great tour with lots of excitement, but safe. Buckwheat and I got to ride shotgun in "Fox & Hound" night chases thru an obstacle course with FWPD CVPIs--wow, what a ride---these fellows can reallly put these cars thru their paces----then we got to ride shotgun in our cars with instructors--John was Fox and I was hound--now THAT was really a hoot----I will never be afraid if I have to push the MM to the limits to avoid an accident---my night vision isn't great, so I didn't drive the course---I think John did--John has Logan's s/ced MM--the guys were REALLY impressed with it's handling and power----the next nite, a stock Marauder gave a Dodge Magnum PI a really rough time---knocked it out of the box in handling---too bad the "good guys" can't get Marauders. Anyway, let us know how it goes. Maury

Have fun Dennis! I always get people riding out. I usually try to scare them to death with my wild driving... that way they never ask to come out with me again!

BTW guys: The jalapeno in the schwang thing is more common than you think! I was leaning in through my front door window to hit the trunk release. My pepper-spray case hit the door JUST right. The spray then went off, but I didn't know it. Shortly afterwards, I walked over into the woods to urinate. The spray was all over my pants and hands... then it was all over something else... OUCH!!!! FOR DAYS!!!!

Well here is how my FHP ride along went, I never got started till 5 PM I was in the Toreador Red car, the Trooper is a real nice man, he first told me of his Tuesday night patrol on I 95 and the Buckman bridge here in Jax, which is notorious for nutty drivers, well he is coming on the on ramp and sees a Honda Motorcycle ahead of him, all the Marauders have Parrots that are cameras that see front and back in the car, so he activates that and as soon as he gets up on 95 he hits the bike with radar he clocked the kid at 164 MPH, he had the cruiser at 135 and the kid slowed down do to heavy traffic, ahead of him, he never knew the trooper was behind him, so he paces the kid in and out of traffic, the kid gets up to the Buckman bridge and is doing wheelies so the bikes license plate is in a position where you really cannot see it from behind so the trooper pulls up beside the kid to get the tag and the kid still does not know its a FHP car and is trying to race the trooper till he turns on the siren and lights and the kid like to lost the bike, scarred him to death he pulled over and when the trooper got out he was hitting himself in the head, he went to jail bike impounded.

So any way we start the patrol on the Buckman, half way across a Honda car passes us doing 80 so he paces the car in the far lane and we watch the car move from lane to lane following to closely and just being an idiot, about the time a white transam pulls along side the Honda and there playing with each other and finally they get up to a 100 and then the lights came on the jaws dropped and he pulled them both over, to funny.

20 minutes later same thing he just drives along and some girl blows by him running 85 he follows here runs the tag and records every thing then hits the lights she told him there was no way she was doing 85 she had no car insurance and had two drivers license he confiscated the out of State one and wrote her two tickets.

Its completely amazing that people just do not realize that its a FHP car and they just blow right by him he is a good trooper he does his job and he is fair as long as they don't start lipping off to him, the Silver Marauder they had on the dyno in Gainesville and it hit 185 at the rev limit now how fast will this translate on the road I do not know but the cars are fast.

I had a good time I am doing five more cars, and I am going on another ride along on a Friday night that should be lots of fun.

I recently traded in my POS 92 CVPI for a o5 Yukon. Talk about ultimate stealth, It doesn't have the get up and go as a new CVPI, but I can sneak up on people before they know it. All LED's that are clear until you turn em on is cool too.
