Doesnt look like MM to me... Wrong wheels and bumper.
They are asking way too much for a trashed GM.

whats up with that,... I think it's a CV Sport. I realize the rims may be 'loaners' because the originals are long gone,... but,.. look at the rear bumper. It doesn't say MARAUDER...

Look at the engine, 32V. They also put on a GM bumper cover on the rear, but the tips are visible.
I say its a really trashed out MM.

Its a theft recovery, they put whatever wheels they could scrounge for it on.

$5500? I doubt they would get 2500-3000 maybe for the engine, trans, whats left of the interior if anything.

Ad said it was VIN re-tag...probably used plate and documents from salvage Merc Gm and sorta tried to "disguise" the MM origins of car by slapping on some GM parts.

That's probably a Marauder , check out the engine. Who ever stole it probably transferred the parts to another panther platform and reinstalled their old parts. The interior is probably gone as it looks like the headliner is hanging down. There aren't to many salvagable parts other than the drive line. :( That's definitely a total loss. If you need the parts it may be worth what they are asking.

I maybe naive among my friends but very suspicious with all others....there is a picture of a 32V engine...but not connected to anything else....see what I mean Vern ???

It's a 300A alright. Take another peek at that engine bay. Probably the only area of this MM not touched. No one ever worked under the hood of this MM.
I've seen this before, around here we used to call it a turn-over. Original buyer can't afford it anymore, or, bought it with bogus credit knowing he was going to turn it over. The buyer reports the vehicle stolen to beat the cops and repo dudes, and swaps all the outside trim to conceal the clues. Rear cover would be the first to go on any MM, and though the wheels you see are not MM rims, they do match each other, and that means traded 4 for 4 from a donor car. Retag it to an older VIN would be next, those '98 CV wheels gotta match the VIN, eh? Prolly spent the last year in police impound, and Zack and I know what those cars look like.
If you play your cards right, you could live transportation costs free for years. Drive it like you stole it because you did, and when it looks like it's time to turn it over again, just leave inside a garage of an abandoned house in a lower income area. Cops can't touch these cars as long as the public VIN comes back clear. It could be months before anyone finds out it's hot, and it will get picked apart by the neighborhood until the police tow arrives. I once found a '79 "Smokie and the Bandit" TransAm that was missing for over 5 years, and it looked a lot like this. It was six months before I could tow it because the property was in probate, and no one knew the garage had been "rented" in the meantime. Old dog, new tricks, eh?
5500? Bah! More like 2 grand, and generous at that. You'll never restore the original VIN and live with a salvage title. But, that's okay too. Still a great project car for anyone looking to build a complete blown out true "pro-street" makeover...IMHO.

I'm gonna have to agree....with everyone in one respect or another.:P
I agree, the engine pic is correct, but it is NOT shown with the body of the car in the other pics.
Here's the big one. Take the pic of the RIGHT side profile pic, save it, and enlarge it with windows picture viewer.
It really appears to have a RIGHT SIDE DOOR LOCK .....and THAT ain't right for a Marauder.
Hard to tell...someone else look at it, and tell us what you think.

Barry - I can't see that. In my 35yrs on the NYPD this is a classic case of parts switching. As in my post above the thief removers the parts he wants from the Marauder installs them on his panther platform vehicle and gets rid of the old parts by installing the on the stolen vehicle. Have seen this numerous times.

Barry, can't tell for sure about the keylock. But something you may find useful is this little Power Toy for Windows XP, it allows you to right click on any image at any time and make it big or small CLICK (http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/ImageResizerPowertoySetup.exe)

I couldn't make out the right door lock conclusively ... but there does appear to be a rectangular patch above the passenger door handle.
Does the Hockey Stick emblem look "off center" (i.e. right of center) to anyone??
The exhaust tips do not seem to protrude far enough from the bumper cover.
The more I look ... the more this looks like a Poser MM. The engine might be from a different car altogether.

I would say it is a Marauder as well. It also has the 2003+ suspension update. If you look in the engine bay, you will see the coil over bolts. The previous models do not have that. I can't/don't see the right side door lock. It may be a scratch or dent. It could be a 2003+ CV or GM but the engine, trunk and tips along with the suspension makes it look like a Marauder.

From the looks of the engine bay, that car went for a swim. Value if it did $0.00, unless scrap yard buys it.

Look closely, I think its a MM. Tinted Rev. Lights, and 3 Grand marquis wheels and 1 town car wheel (LEFT REAR) and they are from a Pre-03 Car. Look how much they stick out!

I was looking at that. At first I thought it looked like body shop dust but I think you may be right and it's mud.
Hard to say for sure without seeing the car or the interior.
