I see a K&N test netted 5 RWHP in a resent thread. That's about $60/hp

I have done my testing on my JLT, but I know independent 3rd party is better for you all.
So, if someone can do a honest and fair before and after comparo and post the results and pics I wil give them the kit free of charge.

All I ask is you data log the car to keep IAT & coolant temps the same. 2-3 base line runs and 2-3 JLT runs.

If your interested please let me know.
Thanks Jay

I look forward to the results, I also did a before and after on the PHP airbox, it is fully documented on this forum. Look also for results under the curve, you may find amazing gains.:)

It's a go!I would venture to guess,Late next week. I am going to return the stock program then we will see about checking the gains with Lidio's tune, with and without JLT's kit.

Can I monitor anything benifical to tuning with my SCT9100? Do I need latest/ additional software like Dennis Reinhart talked about?

I don't think you should muck around with anything, because trying to explain what you changed and why, will raise flags for those who love to play scrabble with a post.

Just baseline your MM running as it is today and the way you like it to run, and establish a sound baseline. Obey certain contemporary rules on duno testing, and add the JLT parts and do it all again. Consistency in testing is what counts.

Frankly, I don't see why this needs to be done anyway. I'm sure the JLT stuff is well worth the bang for the buck. But, hey, it's free stuff too.

Bradley, if you need a dyno specialist who will provide impartial results, try Mike Lopez at High Speed Performance. 708.499.5220. He's just off the I-294 at 95th Street, and you won't be able to get him fudge anything. Straight up dyno test from a pro making his living at it full time, that's why I use him for my "home" dyno.

Good luck!

Something doesn't seem right with this proposed test. On another thread, "O2 sensor and air intake" Mitch relates that any change to the air induction path will upset the 14:1 AF ratio and a new MAF plot needs to be done and programmed into the EEC.

The test should be conducted with the BEFORE configuration first, then plug in the JLT, retune the MAF and dyno the AFTER. Otherwise the JLT or any aftermarket intake system for that matter will not perform as well as it could and may perform worse than stock. Re-tuning is the answer after mod to give the JTL a fair shake. Just my 2C.

Thanks MAC.
I was just reading about the K&N test that was done and it only gained 5 hp. I thought that was low, but it seems readers of the thread were happy with that. So what better way to show readers my results were accurate then to get a 3rd party, un biased test done?

Brad, thanks for the offer and the kits is shipping tomorrow. Mac may be right, just leave the car the way it is for the base line runs, then swap the JLT and see what happens.
After that, if you want to fool with the tuner ( I would, it's on the dyno anyway) Go for it. That way we can get a result with a tune.

Thanks all
Jay

BTW, I have a JLT but haven't installed it yet due to very rich A/F ratios reported by others on this site and friends with modified air induction systems here at home. Awaiting dyno time to update my MAF data for a re-tune file.

Awaiting dyno time to update my MAF data for a re-tune file. The object is to sell a product that will not "need" a tune. Yes all mods will benifit from a tune, but most people do not want to tune.

If conditions are kept the same, doing a before and after test on the dyno is about the only fair way to show gains or loses.

With respect, the conditions are not the same after the kit is installed. The computer input via the MAF is significantly altered and the computer reacts to this as a lean condition. The test of the PHP intake by Dennis Reinhart showed a significant enrichment of the A/F mixture with little horsepower gain. After a retune the mixture was reset to about normal and a much larger horsepower gain was realized. This kit "needs" a re-tune. It's a good kit but the reality is we are dealing with a downstream reaction that needs correction or you will experience problems associated with a rich running engine, IE fouled plugs, carbon build up and so on.

What about disconnecting the battery? I heard after such a mod, disconnecting the battery for 20 mins or so and letting it die, the computer has to re-learn the parameters it is now taking on..

...?

If you'd like to do another test on an otherwise completely stock Trilogy s/c MM let me know. I'm real close to Alternative, and I have had completely stock dyno runs performed there before my s/c install.
