The car has a minner Tick that can be herd loundly in

Sorry to hear about the tap & smoke. Any mods? No, ...wait, ...don't answer that.;)

They gave me a Town Car, 'cause I couldn't fit into one of them Tracers. I was soooo happy to get my MM back from 'em.

Hey Charlie, what you doing up this late?

I had all your problems already.

If by "Kidney", you mean seat, then the leather "unwrapping" is caused by a long plastic clip that mounts under the front portion of the seat. There's no right way to fix it, because it'll just happen again. They should remove the seat and permenantly secure the clip utilizing sheet metal screws placed directly through the meatl structure of the seat frame.

The smoke can be attributed to the other problem: the "tick". Stay strong and make sure that your service manager calls the engine plant to inquire about cylinder head issues. Ford had told dealerships several months ago that a permenant fix (completely revised cylinder heads) was to be introduced in the first quarter of 2005.

PM me for any lengthy questions.... or call me (732) 684-3467. I can talk faster than I type.

Is this 'tick' in the 04 cars as well?

I heard a handful of guys with '04's complain about it. I don't think the problem is contained to a specific build period. Just poor design.

And the tick occurs after something in the head overheats amd I correct? IS this prevented by the cooling mod everyone's talking about?

Hey Wes....next time we chat I'll explain better, but...

Mine has ticked since day one. There was nothing to 'prevent' this problem. It ticks from startup, and never changes throughout the run.

My dealer first blamed it on a leaky exhaust header, until I made them put a scope on the drivers side valve cover....:shake:

There is no fix that Ford is willing to do at this time.

Well the dealership called today. The thing is my family
parks in the driveway at night(winter laws). So my car is last in line.
So it has to be moved in the morning by my father so he can get
out. He says he doesnt get a blue puff. 2hrs later
when I start it i get the puff. So the dealer said "the blue
puff is the stuff that did not get a chance to burn off when the
car was moved quickly the 1st time. He said the tick under the wheel-well is just a noise the high preformence engine makes:mad2: . It ticks mosty just when its started in morning...They said nothing about the leather un-wrapping (behind the steering wheel where the radio controls are)
BTW: this was all left on the answering machine.

OK, I'm with the dealer on this one. Mine's done the smoke thing a couple of times, and under those conditions. =start and move a little, shut it off, then re-start in a short while, and =poof= blue smoke. It's normal. Can't explain why, but it's normal. It's like the guy who goes to his doc and says it hurts when I do this, and the doc says, don't do that. The tick may be an oil issue, who knows? Anyway, don't be so quick to pick a fight with the dealer, especially L/M dealers, 'cause they are under a LOT of pressure to get good feedback reports from you, and I believe they will be less or more willing to be helpful depending on YOUR attitude. Of course, it's always to let them know, up front, that you know a lot of stuff about the car. They like car guys y'know.:)

There is/was an on going issue with this item, and many members here have had this fixed under warranty. The dealer may even be able to find a history on this issue.

Your steering wheel is covered under warranty, and if it's falling apart, they need to honor the warranty and fix it, because it WILL get worse.

BTW: I figured as much on the tick. I am TICKled when I here newer members say their dealer is gonna fix this, and a few days later they post NO RESULTS.
Your're not alone, like I said, many of us, myself included, are really put out with this issue.

Thanks guys for the helpful replays....I picked her up
today, thank god:) . I asked about the steering wheel
the guy said he could not find anything wrong. So I
pointed it out and he said he would look into it...
They were very nice so I trusted him to do so. Thanks
again fellow "Marauder's"
