Just got the MM back after tail light mods and rear badge removal.
Shades of S55. Thanks to Barry for "the rib only look".

If they're niteshades, where did you get them? Haven't been able to locate them locally.

Nite Shades is a spray-on tint. *Mask-off what you don't want tinted. Production information (http://www.vhtpaint.com/nightshades.htm) <<<<< -click-

It is kinda hard to find, though some auto supply places do carry it.

Doesn't take much to find it.

Nightshades is a paint the ricers use:)

Thanks, not the type of "niteshades" I thought it was. I was thinking it was a brand of lens covers (kinda like those you see on the mustangs, trucks, etc.) that are actually plastic and removable. My mistake, guess I learned something, and have to keep looking.

It's paint. I had the bodyshop fill in and paint the two holes
left from removing the badge. While it was there I had them
go ahead and paint the lenes. After I had installed the spoiler
it just seemed natural that the badge should go.

One thing leads to another and another and another.
Ain't life great!

I wonder how S55 taillight treatment would look on a DTR?

I would love to see that in DTR! It would be pretty subtle,.. but IMO it would look sweet!

I would also like to see it:
...in Blue!

..and in Silver!

Here's mine: done with 4 coats of Niteshades.

that looks great Gary!!!! Someday,.. when I paint the MM ,.. the lights will be painted with it!

Lookin' good.

Being black and all, I opted for a tinge more tint in the nooks.

Your car looks great. I'm thinking of going badgeless myself. Can you give me a ball park of what you paid just for the filling in and painting of the two holes after you removed the badge?

Thanks

Wes, one of the reasons I like DTR so much was the fact that the red tail light lenses were less pronounced appearing. That's why I haven't tinted them. If I did the "S55" treatment, the paint would be body matching DTR for sure. I think that would be pretty slick.

HW: Check out this old thread when we first started doing this mod. It's really easy to do yourself in a couple hours. The car is immediately ready to drive.

Barry I didn't use Nightshades, I actually had the lens painted to match
the car. I thought this originally came from one of your earlier posts talking
about masking off the ribs and using "gloss paint" on the lens. If you were
not the original perpetrator of this mod then my apologies to whom ever it
was. My thought was while the body shop was filling and painting the trunk
just have them do it.

Wes I was wondering the same thing but I wouldn't want to paint the outside of the lens. I never had a taillight out -I wonder if you could just paint the inside with black paint or the same nightshades paint others have used, this way the outside would still be dark red. Might look really nice with just part of the lens lighting up-what do you think?

If you tint then check the local/state regs.

In Pa. it is not legal as it blocks the light from showing:confused:
