I had given up on getting my MM, no one ever calls me back. So I called the dealer I have been dealing with, and asked if I could get the Mustang GT instead. The Ford customer service guy says yup, as long as its a ford vehicle you can do the exchange. So I walk accross the lot to the Merc dealer and the fleet sales lady goes up stairs and the General Manager says NO WAY, they have a $5000 mark up on the GTS, and he doesnt want to let the vehicle go on a no profit deal. They then hand me the packet from Ford Dispute resolution and tell me to try another dealer, that they might do the deal. I was about to drop someone, when I said nope, dont hurt anyone and walk accross the lot. I went back to the Ford Rep, and asked him to call Michigan. We left a message with the dispute resolution rep, I told her what happened and that I expected a call within the hour or I would become the worst customer they had ever had to deal with.
20 minutes later, they called. They said no to the mustang...so I said why.....if there werent any MMS, then what the heck was I supposed to select. They asked why there werent any MMs, they didnt know it was a specialty vehicle. So then I told them about how I was expected to take my packet and try every dealer in town. She was not happy that they gave me the packet, it explains the process and how much the dealer will get for processing the paperwork.
So Tuesday after she talks to her boss, I am hoping they let the General Manager have it good, and make him do the deal. I really want the 2004 MM with the sunroof in TX, but at this point I will take a GT or they can just buy me out and let me work my own deal.
Its amazing how ignorant Ferd personnel are. I dont know if any of you have followed the story of the GTO. When they came out, dealers were asking about $5000 over invoice, and at the end of the year they were drowning on them. They were selling them at $10000 under sticker. Now that the 2005s are out, they are asking for $5000 over invoice again. Dealers will never learn.
I really hope that Boss person has the pull to get a MM shipped here from TX or something. I just want this headache to go away. My MM is getting really bad. Its really hesitating now, and I think it knows. The rear windows stopped working, and she is drinking gas likes its going out of style.

i was going to order a 05 mustang gt. got a way better deal on the MM and i have already seen 10x more 05 mustang gt's than i have ever MM's, and the mustangs will continue to multiply. they will be as common as civics in 6 months.
I agree with hdwrench....stick with the MM because the new Mustang will be everywhere. I've only had my MM a little over two months and only seen one other and I see that other one every day in my work parking lot. You'll miss uniqueness of the car and maybe one day the acres of room. I had a 97 Cobra a couple years back....very fast car....but I pick the MM over that car....plus way more double looks in the MM:coolman: .

I've got some more bad news you can't bring a New 2004 MM into California from Texas unless it has "California Emmisions". The MSRP on my 2004 MM states "California Emmissions" on it. If you bring a new MM into California with no California Emmissions the state of california can Impound it. The only way to bring a out of state MM into California is if it has 7500 miles on the Odometer. I hope this helpful.:(

I hope this gets resloved, soon. Dealerships wont ever learn. When the new T-Bird came out I couldnt find anyhing under $50. And they wouldnt even talk unless you put down a deposit!!! It was a nice car but I washed my face that day and I KNOW IT DIDNT HAVE SUCKER ON IT!!!

They can not give them away in my area. Still plenty to choose from. I've never seen one on the road.

I saw 2 in town for awhile but thats been well over a year ago. But when I got my MM they were so desperate the tried to sell me a Linclon Blackwood that had 100 miles on it for 35K. They wouldnt budge off the 56K sticker 1 yr earlier!!!

I agree and I don't blame them....If I were a dealer with one of very few hot GTs in town on my lot and some fool was willing to pay a premium for immediate delivery, I'd take his money.
Having said that, I'd also take the time to rationally explain to you that " ...It is my job to make the most money I can for my share holders, investors, my employees, and my family. So I cannot offer a deal on a new GT for you today. However, I can offer a couple of solutions. 1) I'll special order a car for you and sell it to you at MSRP or 2) Ask that you wait 6 months or so until the newness wears off and we get more cars into the market. Then come in on the last day of the month when I need to move units and we'll deal. Until then we need to make hay when the sunshines." I might also add "that there have been hard times too. Like 15 years ago when I had a lot full of POS Fairmonts and Tempos I lost my ass on." It's just business.
Speaking of making deals on that last day of the month. A buddy of mine recently walked in to a local dealer on the last day of the financial month and drove out in a new 2004 Mustang GT convertable for $10,000 under list....$10,000...The guy needed to move units for whatever reason and was ready to deal.
The deals are there for those who are patient. Good luck finding what you want.

Don If I were shopping Mustangs, I would try to find a dealer that still had 04 Mach I.

Now there's a concept. Our son, John has an '04 Mach-1 in Dark Charcoal Metallic and it's a sensational car. However, having agreed with j-dad on the concept, I'd bet they're very hard to find except, in white, which seems to be the least popular color.:)
