About a week ago I ran my Marauder off the road because I hit ice and it did a doughnut and landed in snow. So it didn't hit trees or anything. When I drove it home it was very bumpy. I let the snow melt off and it drove fine and took it to Tire Barn and they said none of the wheels were bent and didn't charge me a penny to check it out for damage. It rides fine now, but does anyone think the snow could have damaged anything in the suspension? I was only going about 20mph. Thanks.

I'm not sure what you meant by "bumpy"......did you mean that the car was taking the bumps really hard, or that there was a shake in the ride like there is when your wheels are in bad need of balancing?

Was it really cold, like 5 degrees or less because my MM has really stiffened up in the cold weather and the roads heave up too. It's been -16 here in Minneapolis latley. I'm thinking it was these two things along with your close attention to the cars behavior after your close call.

Well, since I didn't get a response yet to my question, let me just say that if you meant that your car had a shaking to it, then that was very likely due to a bunch of snow packed onto the rims and it caused an imbalance in the wheels until it all fell off, or melted. I've had that happen before during snowstorms.

If you had snow of any depth it will pack in the wheels and act like weights and make the tires out of balance and when you went into the shop it would have melted?

I had the snow in the tire off balance thing too.

Interesting.

Sorry. The ride was bumpy even when the road was smooth. It would be noticed around 50mph. The problem just stopped the next day. The place I took it to said the wheels were fine and no weights were thrown off. Anything else i should check out because it seems normal again.

I don't think you're understanding the answer we've given you, or perhaps I haven't understood the explanation you've given of the symptoms. What exactly do you mean by a "bumpy" ride when you're driving over a smooth road? That sounds to me like the car is shaking just as it would only at a certain speed when your tires are out of balance. And if that's the case, then you've already received your answer from several of us. We're not talking about a weight being knocked off of the wheel(s). We're talking about snow being paked onto one or more of your wheels when your car slid off the road, and throwing the balance off, until it then melted.

I had the same problem with a CVPI one time after a pursuit. Went through the I-20/59 median and packed some mud on the inside of the rims. Rode like hell until I got some inmates under the car to get it off. HA

You mean when you then ran over the inmates, that their body parts served to act as a counter balance weight for the mud that was attached to your wheels? (sorry, I couldn't resist :D ).

And they say crime doesn't pay! Just for kicks and giggles that chase made it onto World's Scarist Police Videos. Its a B/W video that says "Lauderdale Co" and "Graham L-13" it also has a date of around 10-1999. Its the first video on that particular episode and they still replay it on Spike TV.

WOW!! I can't say that I've ever seen it. I wish there was a website that hosted it that someone can provide a link to. :(

I guess it was just in the wheels then because I meant that the car was very rough at 50 on a smooth road with no bumps and sorry if i wasn't that clear to some of you. Sounds like theres nothing to worry about. :cool4:

My Marauder gets driven to the dragstrip, at the dragstrip, back and forth to work every day, and YES, 12 months out of the year, even in the snow. And let me add that she's excellent in the snow with my four snow tires on her, and w/out any traction control either(she doesn't have it). My Marauder is no trailer queen, and no garage queen. She gets used, not roped off like some museum piece. ;)
