Impala Super Slug website: This is good

I always find it funny how people bash other folks' cars. I like pretty much all cars. I'd be happy to have one of each one made, although some of the bottom feeders wouldn't be driven much unless it was near the end of the month, and I was running short on gas money! The Impala is not my favorite, but I see it's good points. I wanted to buy one back in 94, but the (brand new) wife said nope. I sure hope that 10 years down the road the MM is holding its value the way the SS's are. I'm still amazed when I'm driving around the MM how many people are staring and doing double takes at my beautiful black MM. You can hear what they are thinking - "WTF ZAT?"

Otoh, I had a nice clean black cherry SS pull up to me at a light yesterday, and I was hoping for a brief contest. He waved, but no go.

I just wonder if there are any Americans left in this country....the web site implies if you like the SS you are an ignorant redneck; so if you love all that import stuff you are what ?.....french maybe. I rather be a redneck.

Actually, I don't find that site funny at ALL...it very well could have been called "Marauder Slug"...

The '94-'96 SS was (is) a great car...if I had known about them in time, I would have bought one instead of the T-bird SC and I would still own it today.

We luxo-barge owners should stick together instead of revelling in the other guy's misfortune...

Well said, brother! I was thinking the exact same thing!
:stupid:

From that site:

Impala SS Club was out in force at the California Speedway on Sat the 8th of
Sept. Though they ran NOS and superchargers, NOT ONE BROKE BELOW THE 14 MARK!!!!

That's a bunch of :bs: . I'm not buying that for a minute. :bs:

Which is exactly why I have challenged this clown. We'll see what comes of it!! :banana2:

Isn't it a pretty old site? Might explain why email doesn't work.

There are millions (literally) of orphaned webpages out there left on servers that are ignored after people change providers, move, forget about them, etc..

I got the impression the guy spent some money trying to fix his lemon. Sorry about his luck. Essentially that car isn't a whole lot different from the Buick Roadmaster or Caprice. Yes, they don't handle well, but that could be remedied as well as it is with our cars with some suspension goodies. Too bad he wanted something for nothing, although I will admit that car was marketed to be something it was not. Wonder what one would be like if you spent $10K on that 1100 HP Gale Banks twin turbo small block and dropped that into the engine bay? Under 10 seconds I bet.

That said, the site seems to be piled high with a lot of import owners bragging about "import power" and especially a lot of dangerous traffic racers, all that talk about 130mph on the freeways. I didn't see anybody mention taking their imports down to the track and eating the SS's there.

And they were talking about the SS 'losers' being childish.

That site makes me want to :puke: and is so out of line that it is not really worthy of comment.

The Impala SS performed very well for its time and I for one was impressed with its handling in stock form. There are several that show up at local autocrosses and put up times that put some guys driving BMWs to shame.

I couldn't agree more....I think that the 94-96 Impala SS was a neat idea and is a decent car. I'm am glad that Mercury did it better!
I wish some of those foreign car punks would show up at the SSH Showdown and run those Impalas SSs. :D
I really, really, REALLY LOVE wasting any/every/all imports (japanese,german,swedish...) just to remind those smug twirps that American cars are FAST! :burn:

Gimme a break....the SS was released 10 years ago :mad2: . Why don't they include 1984 Accords, Maximas and Cressidas in the mix; all good for 0-60 in about 9 seconds.

Why would anybody waste their time on a site like this? Whoever set it up must have some issues. The comparisons posted are a joke. It was a nice car in it's day, and I'm sure there are those who still prefer it to a MM. Different strokes for different folks. I'm glad WE are right! :)
