I know that there are some people here who are not interested in this kind of stuff, and that's quite alright, but for those who are interested in my new burnout video, just RIGHT click on the first link below. Nathan was nice enough to host this video on his website for me ( circlecitymarauders )..... Thanks Nathan!!!! BTW, you'll definately have to right click and then hit "Save target as" for this video. And if you have trouble downloading it, then you'll have to first use the second link to download the MPEG-2 decoder. This is a huge file since the video is well over 4 minutes long. It has a number of burnouts in it. If you have dial-up service then you probably should forget about trying to download this, because DSL and cable service customers will have to wait about 15 minutes to one hour for it to download. Happy viewing, and I hope you enjoy it. This is the video that I sent to Trilogy Motorsports for their video burnout contest. ;)
The video:

....and the MPEG-2 video decoder:

ATTENTION TO ALL INTERESTED PARTIES: IF YOU WANT TO DOWNLOAD THIS VIDEO FILE IN ORDER TO WATCH AND HAVE THIS VIDEO ON YOUR PC, THEN I STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT YOU BEGIN THE DOWNLOAD BY 9:00PM TONIGHT (SUNDAY JANUARY 23RD) AT THE VERY LATEST, BECAUSE THE LINK TO THE VIDEO WILL ONLY BE VALID UNTIL MIDNIGHT, AND AFTER THAT IT WILL BE CLOSED. IF YOU'RE IN THE MIDDLE OF DOWNLOADING THIS FILE AT MIDNIGHT, THEN YOU WILL BE CUT-OFF, AND WOULD'VE WAITED FOR NOTHING!!! SO I HOPE THAT EVERYONE WHO WAS INTERESTED IN THIS HAS SEEN IT ALREADY, AND HAS IT DOWNLOADED ON THEIR PC. IF NOT THEN NOW IS THE TIME!!!

Billy, Do you ever do 'ordinary' burnouts????
I can't imagine what your definition of 'ordinary' is when a 'garden variety' BillyGman burnout involves the loss of a set of tires!!! ;)

The server might be a little taxed... It's only downloading at ~16K/sec (which is about 5% of my normal speeds), so it'll be more than an hour before I have the file completely downloaded... Knowing what Billy's vids are like, I'm sure it'll be worth the wait ;)

Joe, the shredded tires that were in those three pics that I posted were infact the byproduct of that first burnout. So I don't exactly consider this one of my "garden variety" stunts. Definately NOT something I do all the time.

HMMMM, well let us know how long it took you to downlaod it once it's done, because with DSL, it only took me 14 minutes. Even though I obviously have the file on my PC, I went to Nathan's site just to download it in order to see how long it would take. other than that, I can tell you that it took me 37 minutes to transfer the file to him in order to get it on his site, but that might be unrelated. I dunno. I just hope that you don't have dial-up service, or a very old super slow PC, because if you do, then you'll be waiting all night for it.

Billy the transfer rate varied a great deal during download, it was about 110 KB/sec at the beginning and a little past the halfway point it slowed to about 23 KB/sec. The first 50 megs were about 8 minutes, after that it took about an extra 20 minutes.

I'm on DSL - 3.5Mbit/sec, and I generally see every bit of the advertised speed during downloads. I had the exact opposite experience, from Smokie... The first 10 - 15 megs were quite slow, and probably took about 20 minutes. After that, it was like someone flipped the switch, and turning on the speed. The last 60 megs took much less time - maybe 10 minutes, or so.
So, I've now watched the video, 3 times (start to finish)... All I can say is WOW!!! That's, by far, the best burnout I've seen!
The video was great, too... Visuals blended well with the music, and I really liked the leadin (shots of the car from various angles, reving, etc.). Having the MM jacket on was a nice touch, too:2thumbs: Mutiple angles were nice, but aren't really needed, once they each become a view of a huge cloud :D
To hold on, through all that smoke and for that long... True dedication to the burnout ! :bows:

Excellent burn out and video.
Just curious what gear and motor rpm did you hold it in for the first burn out?
jeremyI'm glad that you guys appreciate some smoke!!!! Thanks for all your comments. To answer your questions Jeremy, if you turn up the volume during the video, you can hear the engine bouncing off of the rev limiter in both first and then also in second gear. And then you hear it just hold steady in third gear. I held it steady at 5800 RPM's in third gear, and that's why the steel belts came flying out of the brand new tires after by the end of that first burnout in the video. The speedometer was running at about 100 MPH. It was during the last 6 or 7 seconds or so that I decided to back off a little bit on the noise pedal, and I eased it down to 5,500 RPM's and if you listen closely, you can also hear me back off on the throttle a little but towards the end of that burnout.
And then I heard the steel belts coming out of the tires, and I had to let off since I didn't want them to rip up the fenders!!! And fortunately that didn't happen. Then in the second burnout, I started out a little lower with the RPM's than I wanted to. I was at only 4,000 RPM's when it hit third gear. You'll also notice that it didn't get into the rev limiter at all in first and second gears like it did in the first burnout. Once I was in third gear for awhile, I looked at the tach and finally realized that it was only at 4,000 RPM's, so I brought it up to 4500, and then up to 5,000 RPM's for about the last 5 or 6 seconds of the burnout.
Listen closely and you can hear all of what I'm talking about. There were alot of things going on at once, because I was paying attention to the seconds on the clock inside the car on a the music CD that I had playing during the burnout because I didn't want to stay in the burnout for more than about 30 seconds. That way I knew I'd be able to avoid having the steel belts come out of the tires again like they did in the first burnout. :D
There were three cameras on the car. One held by the camara man on the driver's side of the car, one placed down the street on a tripod to give you an idea of how big the smaoke cloud was, and another camera that we taped to the passenger side front door in order to get some smoke columns coming out of the pasenger side wheel well(you get a decent vieew of that towards the end of that burnout. The set up for all of this was more involved than I've ever gotten to do a burnout before. It was fun, but it was a little bit of work too. :banana2:

*tear* My life now has purpose! I think that should at least be awarded an oscar! Brilliant, wonderful! Oh yea, that's goin on a CD and all my friends are seeing that. I just want to point out a possible problem that you might run itno burning CD's with this video on them........
Because of the type of file that it was rendered in, or more likely the format that it was rendered in, (which BTW was the SVCD format) then some computers will not play the CD's UNLESS the users download that player/decoder that I pointed to in that second link of the first post of this thread. I'm finding that most of the people that have PC's that originally came with a combo DVD/CD drive who can also watch movies on their PC's will be able to watch the CD of this video on their PC. But most of the people who have only CD drives on their PC'c cannot unless they download that decoder.
It's for that reason that I've been only burning DVD's of this video for people lately, and instructing them to watch it on their DVD players that are hooked up to thier TV's, unless ofcourse they also have the DVD player and software in their PC.

Not a problem, i'll burn the video as data, then i will place the MPEG-2 decoder on the CD as well, if a friend does not have the proper codec necissary to play i will install the player then get the video off the CD.

Yes, that's all I'm intending to do here is "share" this video w/everyone who's interested John. You're very welcome, and I'm glad that you liked it. If anyone else (including the other Trilogy customers) has a burnout video to share that they find a way to have hosted, or are willing to e-mail it to me (if the file is small enough to do that) or send me a CD, I'm always interested in that stuff.
Whether they think their video is better than mine, or they think that it isn't as good as mine (IF that is the case) it doesn't matter. I still would like to see it, because like many of you here, I like watching a good burnout. As long as it's good, abd it's from a V8 RWD car, it doesn't matter to me whether it's as good as Joe Shmoe's is or not. Sure I'm hoping to win the video burnout contest, but even if I don't win, I'm glad to have been able to put this video together because I'll have it for years, even long after my Marauder is gone. And a number of people have already told me that when they went home and watched it with thier families, it made them crack up with laughter. And knowing that people got as big a kick out of it as I do when I watch it, is a really good feeling for me.

Oh and i was just thinking about one of the previous posters. While it is true that your video was very good, and the soundtrack is very good, you did a great job of mating the music to the video however, like i said, i'm a nerd. I have over 3K songs on my iPod and I have written 4 movies(about 1 hour and 15 minutes or so long me and my friends make them with little or no technology). Whenever i get bored i sit down and listen to music and try to write a scene that would go with it, that's how i write most of my movies. I'm sure there could be other songs that could go with the movie, but you did a spectacular job of picking a single song and editing the video to go along with it. Please note i mean no disrespect by my post, you did do a fabulous job. KUDOS, i still can't get over how sweet it looks when you pull out of the first burnout

Way to take it to the next level,This is great stuff. All I did was throw a bunch of clips together but yours is smooth"butter"Coming from a guy like you Hack, that's quite a compliment. Thankyou. Now you know why i was a bit surprised when I had the impression that you wanted to add something to it, or change it after you had already seen it. But as far as the video itself, I regret that I didn't have one cameraman do the entire thing, and that part of it was done with digital cameras instead of with camcorders like the first scene in the vid was, because you can see that the video in the middle parts of the vid isn't as high quality as the opening scene is, and as the very end is, since those parts were shot with a camcorder.
Keep in mind that this was a team effort on the part of my friends who were the camera people because I am not really a shudder bug, and therfore I don't have any worthwhile cameras nor video equipment. I usually only use thoise disposable cameras. Infact, before I did this video, I didn't even know that digital cameras shoot with 15 frames per second, while most camcorders record with 30 FPS. When the guy who did a couple shots told me that he had just purchased his digital camera, and that it cost him $1,400, and that it was as good as a camcorder is for video quality, I thought that he was correct on that. But I see that he wasn't.
I'm happy with the video, but perfect it isn't. I had to rely on several other people with different types of equipment, and so I made due. I'm grateful to them for helping me out. And the learning process has been interesting for me since I knew next to nothing about video stuff when I started this project. This video was shot on three different days, so looking back on it now, it was like some miniature movie production. Atleast for me it was anyway. My camera people and I had to come up with cues for eachother in various stages of the production in order to communicate so that we would be on the same page during the filming of these burnouts. That's why I stated earlier, that when I first set out to do this, I never thought that it would be as involved as it turned out to be. :) :banana2: :director: :burnout: :burnout:

Ya what ever he said,Like I said earler I am still going to make my own version of this with my music if you dont mind Billy.I will send you the first CD for tour apporval.Just having fun.Hey, I had it published on the net, so I guess it now belongs to everyone who wants to do whatever with it. And yes I do understand what Darknight is saying that a number of songs can be used. I thought of two other songs, but one of them has been used in another burnout video that is not only very good, but has been all over the net, so I didn't want to use that same song as he did since it wouldn't look nor sound very original. And the other song I came up with would've been difficult if not close to impossible to sync the video footage that I had to the song.
And then there was still another song that a friend suggested called "Let the bodies hit the floor" which is a wild song that has alot of energy to it, but maybe the video doesn't have enough movement and scene changes to keep up with the high energy of the song.
But my point that I brought up earlier still stands......if you replace the music that I have on there with other music, wouldn't you then be removing the rest of the audio also such as the reving sound of the engine??? I'm open to you tech wizes coming up with your own versions I guess just for us to share with eachother, and with close friends, but what I wouldn't like is what the guy that did the editing did. He's a great guy, and he put alot of work and literally hours into editing this video to get it all to fit in correctly with the music the way that i wanted it to fit, and I'm very grateful to him for that since he didn't charge me for any of his time, however........he works with me in a place that employs literally thousands of people....and after I told him what song I wanted to use and even gave him a copy of that song on a CD for him to rip, and left his house with the unfinished video in his possesion, he goes and puts his own choice of music to the video instead, and before even checking with me on it, he goes and puts HIS version of the finished product in bazillion different computers at work before I even was aware of what he did. And I was embarrased (and still am!!!) to know that some people have been only seeing his version in my work place!!! And many of them saw it before I was even shown it!!!!
To add insult to injury,he chose a song by David Bowie (of all people!!:mad2: ) which was so mellow that it would put you to sleep!!!! The song was "Major Tung to ground control".......I mean gimmie a break!!!! What he didn't take into account is that this was me beating on my car, spending MY $$ to go through two sets of tires just to do this thing, and this was my idea, and it is a personal expression of ME. So if you choose to play around with this vid, then I'd only ask you that you share your version with me first to get my opinion, and if my opinion of your finished product differs with your opinion of it, that you only keep it amongst your personal friends and family and that you don't go publishing it to the web as I have so that your version will go across the whole planet. I don't think that's too much of me to ask. ;) And if I like what you do (although w/out there being the audio of the engine reving to it, I dunno what the chances of me being crazy about it are) then I might even request that you get it on the net somehow.

Let the bodies hit the floor is a great song, and it is true that it has a lot of energy and your fear of there not being enought motion in your video could be countered by using the Remix of the song that was used in the movie xXx it is slightly slower in the normal part and has even more energy in the hook.

That's all cool my friend. I've only seen and heard the version of that song that was put to the military video of the hunt for the 9/11 terorists perpetrators. So that's the version that I'm familair with. If you decide to do something with this vid and you want to use that song in your attempts, then my feeling is...go for it, and if you come up with something, then please let me see it first. If the file ends up being too big to send through e-mail (which it likely will be),then mail me a CD of it before you try to put it on somebody's website. My PC will play anything.
Hey, that can even turn out to be very interesting for me to see also. ;) Another song was by a group valled "disturbed" and the song is "fear" but the I dunno about that either. These types of groups and music aren't usually the kinds that I listen to for entertainment, so I'm not very familair ewith a lot of them, but some of them I lean toward when it comes to the possibilty of putting them to a burnout video becaise of their hard metal sounds, and high enrgy...I guess you would have to see how the finished product looked. Some songs have enough energy in the chorus, but then when the rest of the lyrics start when the chorus is over, and the music quiets down a little bit, the song gets a little limp and too quiet. Sometimes it also even depends on the timber of the singer's voice. If it's too high pitched, then it sounds too wimpy to match a high HP burnout video. For instance that old group "Rush" some of their music is fine, but once that sprano type singer opens his mouth to belt out a couple notes, the song is done IMO.:D Ideally the guy singing has to souind a little macho for it to compliment a burnout video.
A typical example of that would be the song "Drop the Bombshell" by a Canadian group that's no longer in existence called "Powerman 5000". great song, great lyrics and voice tones for a burnout video, but because there's a very good camaro SS burnout vid all over the net whuch has that song to it, i would NOT want my video attached to that song because it wouldn't be even close to coming across to the audience as being original. So that's a no-go for sure. I've listend to s number of that group's other songs, but nothing IMO that I heard comes close to that song("Drop the Bombshell").

Yeah, fear, that song is hot. I remember the used it in the american version of the Dragonball Z movie featuring Lord Slug if i remember correctly. That whole movie soundtrack was all disturbed. Although, i just watched your vid while listening to that song and i will say that enter sandman went with it better than fear would have.
I agree "Drop the bombshell" is a great song. Have you ever heard the song "Blind World" by Flybanger? That could be a great song for a burnout video. The beginning sounds like some jazz riff guitar then some guy goes, "Yea, ha, check this one out... Bit:censor: h, haha" then you get into a single metal guitar riff and then all the drums and bass jump in and the chorus of the song would be great for pulling out of the cloud or a drive by. Only problem with it is you have to start that song around 31 seconds or so for it to go well (and it does) and that's a little too long to wait before music by my standards (short attention span).
All being all i think you made a good choice with music selection :high5: :nworthy: :nworthy: :bows:

Yeah, fear, that song is hot. . Although, i just watched your vid while listening to that song and i will say that enter sandman went with it better than fear would have. I think you made a good choiceThanks for the interest you've shown in my vid and the effort you've made to consider some other songs for it. I think you're beginning to see that I really did put a lot of thought into puting this whole thing together as best I can. This is the first time I've ever done anything like this, and I don't even have the software for this. It was the guy I know with the camcorder who has all that stuff, and I had to guide him as well as get input from him on all the choices that were made.
There are songs that I've always been into for decades. Such as many of the Aerosmith songs, but I found that when I played the video file on my PC while I also had some of those same Aerosmith songs thatr I thought were of a faster tempo, they seemed downright lethargic, slow, and sometimes even redneck hillbilly-like while I was veiwing the action of the burnouts along with the music in question. I'm sure you understand what I mean since you seem to be into this stuff too. You just don't know how a song will go with a video clip until you play them together (especially when it comes to any action scenes).
And sometimes it's surprising to see how much different the song sounds while watching the pace of the action in your video clip. So it's important as well as tricky to get exacty the song that you need. That's what I was talking about earlier in this thread when I mentioned that this whole thing became like a miniature movie production for me. A lot of thought and work had to go into it. Atleast alot considering that it's only a burnout vid, and not an actual movie. More time, thought and effort went into it than I ever thought would be neccessary. It's almost like some kind f artistic expression. And that probably will sound like a stretch to some people who have never tried to do anything like this before. But to those people who think that it's a stretch for me to say that, then I['d say to them, "try it sometime yuorself, and show me what you come up with". it's easier said than done. I can tell you that. :)

Bradley GBrad, did you end up getting that CD to play on your PC? If so, did you use that software download that was posted in another thread by Dave(aka "Techheavy")??? That's what one of my co-workers had to use to get it to play on his PC.

That's the meanest, smokiest, most gut-wrenching burnout I've ever seen.
I can't believe how it just goes on and on. Man, when someone throws a burnout challenge out there the GMan really delivers! :bows:
Loved the intro walk-around, the music selection was spot on, and holy crap the Kooks and Trilogy combination sound sweet. Way to go Billy! :2thumbs:

Billy,
I expressed my appreciation for the last video you did, and I have to say that it felt as though I was standing next to you while watching this latest one!
The amount of smoke was so intense that I could smell it from my PC. ;)
Excellent choice in music for the video. My wife liked it as well! Loved the strobe light effect on the rim prior to lighting 'em up. The amount of rubber on the road, and still smoking is incredible!
You are the Man! :bows: :bows: :bows:
And rest assured, a burn-out challenge will never come from me.
Mike.

Thanks again guys, and I'm very glad you liked it....I'm really beginning to wonder why none of my fellow Trilogy customers who I've seen on the board lately have chimed in here besides Chuck, and Jeff........I'd like to think that many of them who are also into burnouts have watched the video.........Rick, Mike, Dave.......where are you guys? I know that atleast Rick and Mike have been on here lately.......it's been awful quiet amongst that crowd......I really LUVED Rick's two burnout vids, and I told him that too......C'mon guys..........you aren't that competitive now, are you? I thought that I was bad. But I can still give my competitors credit for the vids that they've done (however, I've only seen Rick's video) ........but I must give both Jeff and Chuck credit for chiming in here since they're both Trilogy customers also, and Chuck is also one of those who has sent a burnout vid in for the Trilogy contest. And I look forward to seeing his vid soon.
Just a side note here: who ever wishes to watch this video, and is willing to have the patience to wait an hour or more for the download, better do that by 9:00 tonight or not too much later, because Nathan has told me that it's taking up so much bandwidth on his site, and because it's already had several hundred hits that it's also causing problems with his srver, he has to remove the video file by 12:00 midnight tonight, and if you're in the midle of downloading it by midnight, then you will be cut-off, and you would've waited for nothing.

:burn:I liked your videos Rick. Infact, I have them both on my desktop. Unfortunately mine isn't as easy to host, nor can I e-mail it since it's such a big file. The only thing I can do is to mail you a DVD disc if you send me a PM with your mailing address.

Dang, always a day late and a dollar short.
If you know Chuck (aka "Tallboy") who also lives in FL, you can have him show you the CD, or DVD since I sent one to him. if not, then I might be getting back up on the net. It depends on how the video quality is going to look after the file size is cut down. because the file is so big, and therefore it was taking everyone so long to download it, there were too many downloads going on at the same time on nathan's website, and it was wreaking havoc with his bandwidth and with his server, so that's why he had to remove the video file.
however, if I get the file cut down and changed into another format that wouldn't render such a big file, then the video quality might go downhill too much. So we might have to experiment with this a little, and see what we can come up with. Three people have offered to put this video on their website, but it's going to depend on what the video looks like IF the file size has to be reduced. Stay tuned. ;)

If you decide that you want a CD for yourself, you can send me a PM with your mailing address, and I can mail you a CD if you want. But right now I don't have any DVD blank discs, so it will have to be on a CD, and many people who I've been burning the CD's for are having problems playing them UNLESS they downlaod this player/Decoder below..... so you might want to keep that in mind

Mike, I just sent you a PM about this, but if for some reason you don't check your PM's regularly, I'll make mention of this here.......Nathan just sent a reduced file size version of this video of mine to me which was a total size of 10MB, which brought the size down from it's original 88MB size. However, while I really appreciate his efforts on this, I watched it, and I have to tell you(as I did him) that while the majority of the video didn't take a real big hit in video quality, and are acceptable, the first part (during the first burnout) DID take a big hit in quality.
This 10MB version really does NOT do this video any justice since the first part of this video WAS the best part. So while I'm greatful to both of you for your efforts and offer on this, I'd really wish that you wouldn't use the 10MB version. If you're going to have problems with your server using the original 88MB version of this video, like Nathan had with his site, then I guess we should just forget about this, and I'll have to simply continue to burn CD's for people and mail them like I have been. Sorry guys. :(

BillyGman, I get an error message when I try to load your video. I want to see it. can you email it to me. greg@msg-llc.com
Thanks, Greg
