Finally got some snow in Minnesota (we're over 2 feet behind normal). The MM is sure a blast in this stuff---once you turn the traction control off. The Blizzacks (plus six 40 lb bags of water softener salt in the trunk) give plenty of traction----can dust the front wheel drive stuff at the stoplights and (if the driver doesn't get on it right away) even 4 X 4's. Great fun!!!

I know exactly what you mean. With good snow tires you don't need that T/C with these cars (mine doesn't even have it). but either way, the snow tires really mke a major difference, and yes, i too have climbed hills while driving right by wrong wheel drive cars who were stuck on this same hills.

Glad to hear your having fun  and I look forward to our next Twin City meet. With my OEM tires I have I'm very pleased with how the car handles. I put 150 lbs of salt in the trunk and have T/C. I did however get stuck twice and because of this site I was able to remember what to do so I turned off the T/C and O/D and stepped on the brake and then the gas and With both rear wheels spinning I was off like a 4X4. I thought with the wide front tires the car would be floaty over the unplowed snow but it cut through very well. Also I got sideways once but because of years of goofing off I was able to bring it straight and I still got a $50 cash tip from my passenger:coolman: . I still want to get snow tires when I'm able too but sure glad I don't need them.

IMHO the TC is next to worthless. I got stuck going uphill on my street because the TC slowed the car to point where I was not moving. I only use the TC once I'm moving. The system is a POS when you want to get moving.

We've been using the Blizzacks for a long time. Great tire!:)

I have Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snow tires on my car and I have been very impressed with the way it is handling the snow here in Chicago this weekend.
And although I am glad I have TC for the times when I am not paying attention, it is somewhat of an annoyance in the snow.

What is even more pathetic is a Black MM with more road salt on it's sides than most SUV's. :flamer:

Boy, I don't understand why you guys are badmouthing the TC on our cars. I used it to great advantage at Merc's Shootout at Mason-Dixon Dragway, last fall, and although not a single race was won, feel the TC was largely responsible for the blistering 17.4 I was able to turn.

Nothing like turning onto my street where a steep hill starts right at the intersection and having the car stop because the TC says its slippery.:mad2:

I have witnessed a Factory sponsored demonstration comparing two identicle cars Clown vics There was a white x on the rear wheels, the pavement was wet simulating a driving rain? they showed two cars trying to launch from a stand still on level ground, The Vic equipt. with the t/c was substantialy enhanced.I also witnessed this test on sheer ice and had even greater effects.I am not saying this because I have this feature.I am just calling them as I sees 'em

I've had better start up acceleration by turning off the TC and letting the snow tires do their job. Twice now I've almost been t boned because the car won't gain any speed. I suppose if I were to use a very, very light touch on the go pedal, maybe it would work.

I will go so far as to say I will beat anyone off line on wet pavement or ice using my P***y,... I mean traction control .I will lay twenty bucks on it!If you don't get out of the pedal when you experience the slip or see the T/C lamp the car will eventually be starved for fuel. "Let off the loud pedal!"If you witness/understand how the system works you may find that it has a benefit!

I understand some will be naysayers even if they saw it with 1st hand, for those people I have this:shake::loco::neener:

My 2004 LS got stuck on an on ramp to a major highway that hadn't been plowed. On ramp was around a bend, and you couldn't tell it hadn't been plowed until it was too late.

Car came to a stop as soon as TC kicked in. With TC on, could not dig out even with two guys pushing. With TC off, car (with Blizzaks) was able to pull out without any help.

Another great function for traction control is you know you are getting hard wheel spinning 1st-2nd +2nd-3rd:burnout: shifts!
