Man am I sorry to hear that...Many fond memories of Johnny and the Tonight Show....

My parents would let me stay up late when I was a kid, just to watch Johnny's monologue.

I like Jay Leno, especially because he is a gearhead, but Jay can't 'hold a candle' to Johnny when it comes to interviewing guests.

Another milestone.... I remember watching as a young boy. Ironic that he was writing material for Letterman. Leno should give it up to Letterman.

Amen. Another Great one leaves us. I use to stay up late to watch him when I was a kid, kept the TV turned down low so my parents would not know I was still awake. I also loved it when he had the animals on his show. I remember one time he had this little creature on his head and it peed on him. His expression was priceless. :rolf: just thinking about it.

RIP Johnny you will be missed.

St. Peter (at the Pearly Gate): Heeeerrrrreessss.....Johnny.

We'll miss you Johnny. . .In tribute

ED McMAHON: Heaven has no brighter star than our next stellar guest, that omnipotent master of the east and former manicurist to Howard Hughes, Carnac the Magnificent...
Welcome once again, O Great Sage... I hold in my hand these envelopes. As a child of four can plainly see, these envelopes have been hermetically sealed. They've been kept in a #2 mayonnaise jar since noon today on Funk and Wagnell's porch. No one knows the contents of these envelopes, but you, in your divine and mystical way, will ascertain the answers to these questions having never seen them before.
CARNAC: I must have absolute silence...

A: De-frost.
Q: On a cold morning, what forms on de-grass?

Carson had the ability to make us laugh even when, every now and then, a joke would bomb.

Most of you folks are too young to remember her, but my first little boy "crush on an actress" died last week: Virginia Mayo.

Classy, pretty lady.

Loved it when he had that blank stare into the camera when he was the straight guy on the butt of a joke. :(
In reality, he had that smart upper midwest common sense that could tear apart any wise guys from both coasts.
Another great one gone. Damn cigarettes.

RIP Johnny :bows:

I must have missed that one on 17 January. Yes, Virginia Mayo was definitely a looker ... :D Most of her best stuff was in the 1940's and 1950's. And, she was pretty good with the comeback lines, too !!!

I make routine trips to the left coast now but the first time I drove from LAX up to Palmdale, I felt like I already knew the place. I knew every street from listening to Johnny telling his great stories. I knew exactly what to do when I got to the Slawsome Cutoff....

RIP...Johnny
