Ordered a silver MM today. Went to the first dealer and told them I was interested in a silver MM. Got the "it only comes in black" answer. After about 20 minutes of "discussion", I convinced them to call Mercury. Mercury told them that they could order it today, but that they wouldn't start producing them until early April. Dealer didn't want to deal very hard on an "order car".
Went to another dealer (also didn't know silver was available). They called the Mercury and got the same answer. They gave me what I thought was a good deal so it has been ordered. :bounce: Probably late April or early May before I take delivery.

I would like to thank Logan and the members of this forum. The information I learned here was invaluable to me. Both dealers wanted to know how I knew so much about the car. A special thanks to Marauderman for his help.

It's going to be a long tough wait.

Looking forward to seeing it on one of my trips to Charlotte. I stated earlier today...those pics of the silver were "growin on me"...

Now, did you confirm equipment, i.e. T/C, fuel door release, stand alone clock, etc.?

Per dealer: T/C yes, fuel door release-no, standalone clock-no.

He did say however that they never know for sure until the car comes in. They aren't consistent.

I can live with any combination. Just want it to growl and go fast.

What was the price they offered you on the Silver Marauder. I really like how the silver one looks, but I dont want to miss out on the great offer I was made on the black one.

$500 below dealer's invoice plus reasonable trade in value (within $200 of Edmunds). Also offered to place car in his stock for 1 day when he receives it and then give me any rebate that's in effect at the time.

Other dealer had a black one with 2,000 miles on it. Said he could give me a heck of an deal on it, but didn't want to deal on an order. We wanted the silver one.

I think for the economic sake of myself that I will just go with the black one. I keep on being tempted by the 2003 Mustang Cobra though! What a car!!!!!:burnout:

I agree with you on the Cobra. I have a 2000 Mustang with the Roush package which I will probably be trading in a year or soon. Love the Cobra and also like the pix I've seen of the 2004 Lightning.

Way to go DOK, you should have what you want!

A short time after the dealer submits the order, he should be issued the build or VIN #

When I ordered my CVPI the dealer also gave me a link to track it as it was shipped on the train. Interesting to see it's route and where it stops. Yours should be able to do that too.
