Their is a diagram of a storage position for the jack, a position "B" (Plastic tire changing Instructions sheet)It appears to have a tie down on the right hand side of the trunk.Anybody carry the jack from this storage position? What holds it in place?is it inside the fabric liner ?

I've never seen a tie down, back there. It seems the spare tire wedges the jack firmly in place (in it's little carpet baggy). This is how it was, from the factory. I'll have to take a closer look, next time I have the spare out.

if i remember right that instruction sheet covered several models of cars.
maybe "B" is the alternate factory mounting location depending on the vehicle
dunno
id like to get my spare off the shelf and mounted elsewhere...

IIRC that's the spare tire mounting spot for P71 ( cop Crown Victoria ).
A "J" hook/stud is used to attach to a bracket ( part # F2AZ-5447076-A ) on the side.

Though I've never done it ... Don't see why not; it's all Panter platform.
The only issue I can think of is ... Will your ( say ) full-size spare stand vertically in the trunk well and clear the lid
BTW ... PM Embassy; he may have some insightful comments.

A 225/60/16 tire is about as large as a tire as you can mount on the rear shelf.
Anything short of a 4X4 off-road tire should be able to "stand up" or be mounted vertically in the trunk well.
On my '98, the factory jack was behind the trunk liner on the passenger side.
I've got fairly long arms, and all I know is the one time I took out the spare and put it back, it was a slight pain in the arse. And it isn't even a full size spare.

No doubt about it. Removing a spare from the shelf in the trunk is a major PITA.

I just have a temp spare,I was not sure if that 2nd Jack location is possible for the Marauder,I don't see any place to mount a bracket and J hook.Got any pics? I kind of like the tire on the shelf. But The jack under the tire it makes the tire sit crooked.

Thanks for the replys

On my '98, the factory jack was behind the trunk liner on the passenger side.i have the temp spare and i stood it up in the trunk and the trunk lid would not close. i decided to put the spare in the recessed area of the floor... it gives me more room on the shelf for amps etc. i took a piece of mdf and made a false floor to hide the jack and spare tire. on top of the mdf i have 2 12"s subs in a box. i didnt screw the sub box into the mdf i took some 2x2 and made the outline of the sub box so it kinda sits down and wont be flying around in the trunk. I didnt mount the sub box to the mdf in case i needed to get the the spare easily i can just lift out the sub box then the mdf will just lift up to reveal the spare/ jack. the temp spare fits in the recessed area of the floor perfectly... i think if u have a full size spare it will stick up more so you'd have to do more than just stick a flat board in there like i did.

As of yesterday, I've decided to mount my jack and spare in the garage. With all the crap in there, it's about as much of the car that will ever fit in there. Seriously though, I needed the extra storage space, and can't recall the last time I had to use a spare anyway. I'll find out how it affects my ET's in a week or so.

sounds like the garage would be the best place... but since i had one tire go flat 3 times in 3 days... im gonna keep the spare around for a while :)
