With my Marauder that is. January 24, 2004 - left Lufkin, TX at 3am in my wife's Expedition. 770 miles to Athens, TN to pick up my new Marauder. All the dealing was done on the phone. The car was listed on ebay. After making a call and talking to the owner of the dealership, the deal was done. My new Marauder had been built in June 02, and had been waiting for me for 18 mos.

Got there about 4pm Saturday afternoon after 12 hours on the road. Looked at it, drove it around the block, signed my name about 3 times, and headed back home. Spent the night in Birmingham, Al. on the way back.

I decided to take it easy, and never got it over 3000rpm on the way home. The trip home went fast, and I learned what an excellent car it is on the long road. Comfortable, fast, quiet, and a great radio. After the 800 miles home, and an oil change at 1200 miles, I finally put my foot all the way in it. That same stupid grin is still on my face every time I drive it.

Even with the less than stellar build quality, and dealer personnel that don't know and understand the car like we do, it's been great. I hope you're enjoying yours as much as I am mine.

Just between you and me, one of these anniversaries I'm going to surprise it with a Trilogy!!

May the grin continue. Come to MVIII (wherever it is) and play with the rest of us. The MM is in a class of it's own. Lotsa stuff to do to it. It is good as is, but add gears and a chip and it comes alive. Add more and who knows?
