Maybe it's just me:nerd: but I really think the wipers sit too high on the windshield and it just detracts from the cars clean look. there is room for lowering them and room for the arms to sit lower as well. I've taken one off and held it where I would like to see them which is right at the bottom of the glass and it sure looks alot better. So has anyone done this, thought about it, any Twin City guys want to help me???

Not really. I don't beleive there is an adjustment. Try researching the threads as this subject has come up before.

There have been previous threads on lowering the 'parking' position of the arms, but I don't remember any threads focusing on lowering the whole assembly.

I'm with you ... that has been one thing that bothers me about the design of the wipers on the MM. Most cars now pull the wipers snuggly down to the hood line. Another problem is lifting the wipers to clean below them for debris, snow and such. The driver's side wiper only lifts about 1.5 inches. :(

Removing the arms and relocating them in a lower position onto the shaft will probably cause the wipers to not clear the entire windshield as they currently do, IMHO. I do not like the looks of them either, and wish they parked under the hood as my '01 GM did.
Good Luck!
Mike.

:bandit: Agree with you guys. When I first bought the car I was amazed that you couldn't lift the wipers to clear debris, etc. from the blade. Also, they are too high up on the glass and it does detract from the overall look. Mine had the orignal wipers on it when I bought it, but they started coming apart shortly after I got home and replaced them with Trico. They work okay...

'Vader, the Bosch Micro-Edge XL blades seem to do a superior job on mine...no streaking or chattering unless they're very dirty.

The arm assembly can be lowered either side, but you will not be able to use the square key that sits between arm and drive assembly, it has a fine spline and it will work well in areas without heavy snow and ice, if you remove the key, the splines will hold....but may strip in heavy snow or ice.

Hey BigSlim, this could be something of interest to guys like you and me who don't drive in any precip. My wipers never get used at all.

Why not replace 'em with caps since you don't drive in bad weather? The wipers for Sunshine reside in the trunk, and have never been on the car, while it's moving. :sunshine: After 12 years, when we take her down for PA inspection, the guy just pops the trunk and checks to see if that's where they still live.

I did the same thing. My MM does not come out in bad weather, and the wipers are much lower and looks much better.

LOL! Excellent idea! I think I'll do that! Thanks for the :thinker: !

Ok, now that I know I'm not alone I want to explain what I think needs to be done in order to do this correctly. The arm itself (the thin piece between the blade and the boot) needs to be a streched out Z shape. I do not believe this can just simply be bent, or can it?. I think it should be cut and welded back together. I appreciate your thoughts and opinions so please keep them coming.

No precip! Grew up in Flint. How do you dodge the drops?

Weather Channel Bro! :) Seriously, in the summer-time it's really 'cause I'm lazy. I like my MM looking as good as it can be at all times and if it gets, (even a little bit) of road scum, (as I call it) on it when it rains, then I have to detail it again. In the winter it's a no-brainer. I refuse to let salt get on my MM. I love it too much. When it's Spring, (and it rains a few times) I'll bring her back out to play! :)

From what I remember the process invoves bending and tweaking the arm. I just cant get myself to purposfully bend any part on my car. W3CAR has the ticket for me as well! :2thumbs:
