I was interested what my 0-60 time might be so I set up from a dead stop and WOW.....SPUN BOTH REARS AND ACTUALLY HAD TO GET OFF OF IT FOR IT TO HOOK!!! :banana2:  :bows:
As near as I can tell without proper instruments my 0-60 time is just under 6 seconds....Is that good for a N/A car with SCT tune and 3:55 gears??

Anyone ever hear of "tire insurance" haha. A set of 4:10's and you'll wear them dirty ole tires right to the rim..

Hmmm... My 03 won't even chirp the tires off the line. It doesn't have anything until about 4000 RPM. Are you using Nitrous?

No (and I wish that I had a better answer for you than that). There's no doubt that my car, at 42,000 miles, comes off the line stronger than it did at 20,000 miles, but that might be due to the chip I put in at 36,000.
Then again, I might not be the best person to talk to... I think that these cars are damned squirrely from the factory (by that, I mean poor build quality... inconsistant as all hell) and that you're getting whatever the Union "worker" of the Day assembled, meaning "whether he decided to do his job that given moment", or not.
AND before I hear anything from anyone "pro union worker", MY CAR IS GOING BACK INTO THE SHOP TOMORROW due to a very loud "clunk, chirping noise/BURNING smell" coming from my rear axle.
Yup... with 2 transmissions, stalling out during right hand turns, a pool of 80w oil in my driveway, brakelights that were lit in the morning, paint that my 8 year old nephew might have applied, a squeek so loud coming from the front end that I was embarrased just to drive the car... (am I forgetting anything? Probably, the stack of receipts in the drawer is really rather embarrasing), I've got to admit that my next car will NOT only "not be a Ford", but probably "won't be built" by an American company either.
And...I'm not sorry for this rant. I would be unemployed, and I'd DESERVE TO BE FIRED, if I turned out work as poor as the people who built my car did.
Must be nice, knowing that no matter how little pride you have in your job, that you can say "I'm proud to be a UAW member" and be guaranteed good pay.

Hey goboy,
Welcome to the best forum on the net!
how many miles on your Marauder?I read someones post that claimed after 25K the engine was still breaking in.Mine would not lay down a nice pair of black stripes till about nine thousand miles.and also spun the tires loose at 1-2 shift. If it is fully broken in there might be something wrong with the car.I would like to see the service personel's face when you tell him your problem.:D

NO to the Nitrous.....Just plain ole SC (South Carolina) air with PHP airbox and SCT tune!! Tires are pretty worn but it has never spun like that except when it was wet out.
1-2 shift can get ugly at WOT on wet pavement!! :( I have not heard a chirp on dry pavement but someone here said the OEM tires don't make much noise when they spin??
Mad4Macs.....Sorry you are having so much trouble with your car!! I think the MM's are built in Canada to escape the Unions?? Why don't you push the dealer you got it from to get a new one or refund your $$$'s.....LEMON LAW??
Good Luck!

Hey Mad4Macs,
I hear ya rant, But what are the alternatives?Yeah, you can dump Ford,For what? If your idea of a nice ride is a monocoque wrong wheel drive ricer, then I guess the next time I happen to see you at a light, you win?I would be discouraged if I had the problems that you mention.Do you think that imports don't have thier share of problems, you my friend, are mistaken. If you don't believe me,the next time you drive by a restaraunt.. I mean import dealership just walk into the shop and see if any of the bays have these vehicles haveing major work being performed.Talk to the writers and mechanics see what they say?I worked next door to a toyota dealership for 12 years and every time I had an occasion to go through thier service department can you guess what I saw? Most of your problems have to do with design/engineering problems not with the people that built it.sorry for the off topic post :o

WTF? Last time I checked this was a post about someone being able to spin his tires for the first time. I'm not sure you why you felt the need post your little tirade against the UAW/CAW here. Next time you need to vent, try not to take someone elses post into the toilet.
PS: I'm not the biggest union supporter, but to blame all of your problems on the people who "assembled" your car is total BS. Every company makes a lemon from time to time. Its unfortunate that you got one.

Well & appropriately said... fellow blue-car driver!
Back on topic... In my experience, these really aren't burn-out machines unless you can get the engine north of 3500 rpms... then they'll smoke all day.
I can get a bark here and there, and the 1-2 shift might chirp them, but it's nothing to send smoke signals with.

Install the Stallion torque Converter and all your worries are over. Expect for worrying about the cost of new tires.

It seems every car is a little different, but since 4.10 gears and SCT tune from DR, my car will chirp on hard launches and I have broken them entirely free several times. This with 21,000 miles. Runs stronger today than it ever has.
Now if only I could afford a supercharger... ;)

When I had about 5k miles on mine I could light em up from a dead stop without a break torque. I'd just lift off the brake and mash the gas. This would be on a cool fall evening around 50 degrees. I noticed that temperature seemed to have a big influence on the performance of my car - seemed to have an extra 10+% power when it was in the 50's or lower.
But just a month or so ago around 6k miles suddenly this car turned into a tire shredding torque monster. Anytime I want to now I can smoke 'em for days. It's been really cold out and the roads have been low friction due to inclement weather and salt. But I don't know - the car just came to life - seems like one week it was so so and then a few days later it was like a big block muscle car. Funny, it started making a whine from the engine right about then... hmmmm... Do they all do this around 6k miles? :P

My drivetrain finally loosend up enough to power brake somewhere around 6K.
:( So..... I'm not the only one who can't get any smoke/tire-spin/squeal/bark/chirp. I put in my tune, JLT, had it dyno'd and noticed a marked improvent in performance but no rear end action. The car does seem to run better in cold weather, buts that just physics. My truck with 150K miles does that. Anyway, I read somewhere on the board that the orginial tires (which are still on) were made of a softer compound, maybe thats part of the reason for the sound of silence.

well after the tires on my moms p71 started going south and i seafoamed the car and cleaned the maf, that car was able to do like 5 ft tire tracks on the street from a dead stop. if i reved it all the way and break trouqed it, im good for 30 ft lines, on both tires. it has 3.73 trac lock gears.
