Anyone driven without there Maf yet? I did. Not that I wanted to! Went to town a while ago and everything was fine, stoped at the store got what I needed and started the marauder again. Check engine light came on and I limped home. My wife got me one of those "Drive right" car chip things and I put it in and it right away said that I had issues with my Maf, it gave codes and discriptions of what was wrong. Popped the hood to find the Maf was not hooked up at all as if it just came unpluged. Pluged it back in and used the car chip to reset the computer and everything is now fine.
To say the least I couldnt tell anything was wrong with the Maf out of the system:dunno:. The car ran fine. Anyone else had this happen? BTW this car chip has several different areas of the engine you can veiw, 0-60 times, data loger, and I found it is a great trouble shooting tool if you dont have an SCT tuner and you don't want to go to a dealership to have them find out whats wrong.

yup,.. I left the MAF unplugged after having the air intake out. The idiot light came on within about a mile and a half. I pulled over and popped the hood, said "DOH!" reconnected it and drove home. I used my SCMT to clear the code.
Maybe I was paranoid after the light came on but I could swear the car was acting a little weird, like the idle was not constant seems like it was 'floating' plus or minus 100-200 RPMs. ...and it also seemed to be hesitating a little bit. But, like I said maybe I was just paranoid.

Did that once with my Grand Marquis, only mine was more sever. Below 20mph, it would jerk and almost stall and was really uneven. I made it about a block thinking that maybe some water got in the intake after I had just washed the car, because I had the hood open while I was doing the back.
Fortunately the intake was dry...just a hanging wire...I had just installed a new intake that day.

It's funny that the car ran at all. I once tried to start the car with out the snorkle tube (Helmholtz resonator) and it would even start.

Oh thats what thats called, and to think this whole time I called it a 'dingus', figured it was related to the dingleberry family. Hhhhm, I wonder where the Heimlich repulsor was designed?

yup, other than some slight hesitation you wouldn't know it was unhooked.
