My passenger window broke this weekend. Took it to the dealer and they said it was a resistor problem. I knew better since I pulled the door panel the night before and could plainly see the cable all twisted up around the power motor assembly.
I tried to explain this to them but "They work on Marauders all day long" they say. They wouldn't even let me into the shop to point out the twisted up cable!
Soooo, 2.5 hours later, they come out to the 6 ft by 6 ft waiting room where they charge .25 cents for COFFEE!!! to tell me a loaner car is now available to me since the window exploded inside the door frame.
I now am trying to convince them the rails are out of allignment, and this is the root cause (GEE! YA THINK SO, IT ONLY EXPLODED IN THE FRAME!!!) but they were rather baffled as to how I would know the Canadian cars are plauged with this problem.
We need to get the dealers to read some treads on this site!
Sheeezzz... If they would of JUST LISTEN TO THE CUSTOMER!! instead of being know it alls!!!
I will be hanging my head in embarassment as I drive the crappy Hundai loaner car for 2 days.

My service dealer, Hansel FLM, in Santa Rosa, CA has provided a nice full size loaner car when I have had warranty work being done.
They have my loyalty, and perhaps a new car purchase in a few years if FLM
makes another car like our MM's.
Their service director is a member here and has an S/C'd MM. Great guy!

David

Well I would write Ford a letter about the .25 coffee.
Never in my life have I heard of any thing like that:mad:

At least the KIA dealers give you free coffee, cake and newspapers.

What they are not telling you is that they broke the window because you have to drill off the factory rivets holding the window to the regulator to replace the broken regulator. You can either use bolts to hold the new on, or replace the rivets. Either way, it's tricky to do correctly. If the tech doesn't have a lot of experience with doing it right, the window shatters. I will bet money that's what happened and they just don't want to tell you that. I went to get a GM window in a wrecking yard, and watched the yard guy break two of them before I had to show him how to remove the glass. If you have a slow RF window, especially when cold out, the tracks are misaligned. If it's not fixed in time, it kills the regulator cable. So, all of you with slow R/F windows, get them in to the dealer for adjustment before it's too late.

My front passenger window was replaced under warranty due to a pit in the glass on delivery. I made the selling dealer write it on the new car paperwork before I drove off the lot.
The repairing dealer had to order three times due to the fact that a catalog error resulted in the wrong color tint (GM) wondow being sent and then the correct one (MM) arrived broken. The window now works and looks perfect. Car was almost completely repainted as well due to the notorious thin paint and clearcoat problems discussed in other threads.
I am still saving up for my Trilogy kit.

David

A few neutral drops in that loaner will help you feel better.
There . . . isn't that nice?

Good call, David!! WRONG CATALOG NUMBER was correct!
I read this, printed it and faxed it too the dealer. But too late, they had already installed the wrong glass, and you were right!
After they recomfirmed, they have ordered the proper glass. They claim it is not a 'tint issue' but a difference in the safety glass rating, this rating gives a different appearance in the 'reflectivity', giving the appearance of wrong tint.

At least it's only a few days in the KIA. I've been trapped in a Focus for the last month while my car's in the shop.
I'm starting to go nucking futs. :help:

You would think that if you brought in your MM to get it fixed and then they made it worse they'd at least let you choose what you wanted as a loaner, I'm sure they had much more than that the **** cars they gave you'll. I know I'd demand something besides a Kia, I'd be a very upset young man.
