 Anyone shed some light on this??2MH Marauders have moonroofs. Ford didn't install them, a contractor installed them at the Ford assembly plant. 2ME Marauders with moonroofs, if any, have aftermarket moonroofs, AFAIK YMMV.

2MH vehicles are one steps up from "body in white vehicles" and are generally uninsurable. If you had such a VIN, you would be in big trouble.

Same here, insured with no problem. And the moonroof is the answer there.

This is for the '04's only. '03's with moonroofs are all aftermarket installations.

He might need to do some more book learning before he knows for sure! I'm sure there's plenty of '04 cars out there that can prove to him that they the VIN is that way and that they are registered (probably at least one in each state, and Canada too). But then again some people know what they know and can't be proved wrong.

Hey, brand new member and already you give me great information about the moonroofs.
A couple months ago, I was looking at a used Maroon 04 at a local dealer. I looked at the moonroof, and told him that it was an aftermarket moonroof. (sure looks like an aftermarket moonroof with the black moulding around the edge). Showed him that my 02 Continental moonroof does not have the black moulding around the edge. He told me that it came from the factory with the moonroof, and pulled out the original window sticker to show me that it came in that way. (Could not make a deal with this dealer). Now I know why, as you guys said, it was installed by a contractor at the factory. Great Info.
I've got my eye on another Maroon 04 at a dealer 200 miles away and although he does not advertise it as having a moonroof, the photo and the vin show that it does. I may take a ride down there next week to take a look, take a test drive and perhaps trade my other car (not the Continental, which I'll keep till the wheels fall off) if the price difference is right. I will post about this in another thread.

OK, Bob & guys, here's more info. The Moonroof Guys are an outfit named WABASTO Inc. They make factory as well as after market units under various trade names. We had them installed in our '00 and '02 Explorer Sports, aftermarket, under two different names from the same shop, but the literature was WABASTO.
Here's more: My '93 T-Bird had a factory Moonroof that was completely butchered when installed. It leaked, stuck, rattled, and in short, was a total mess. After the dealer tried several times, and failed, WABASTO sent one of their guys in with his pickup and a totally new roof, and installed it, while giving the body shop guys a seminar on how to service them.
Good outfit, IMHO:)

No flames, but the color MM you looked at is a DTR (Dark Toreador Red), Only made in 2004. Total units made = 980.
Good luck,
Mike.

Hey, I like the 1st explaination.... incomplete because there is no SC..... I think all the '04 owners that have that "special" VIN should go back to Ford and get them to install the missing SC to make or '04's "complete" :D :D :D :D

Great idea!
While were there, we could get them to replace the cats with high flows for the SC "package" not forgetting the 4:10's as included. :burn:
Roadtrip to :canada: ?
