Holy shite! I had the COOLEST sales dude with me this morning when we took the Marauder out... he was an old guy in his mid 60s, and a real pro. He took the car off the lot, and we switched in a nearby parking lot. He told me to have fun with it... and took me on a course and test drive which lasted a little over 45 minutes.

First on the drive, a nice little residential road... some sedate driving, still loving the exhaust note of the thing. We get onto a bigger road, with a 35 MPH speed limit. Ah, what do I find next to me in the left lane, revving his engine? A Passat W8! He was challenging me! Light turns green... we hit it, and it ends at 50 MPH, with him thoroughly wasted by 2 carlengths. Cut in front of him (because I have to take a left at the next light), he switches and floors it by me... me and the dealer share a grin and a laugh.

Ah, the left turn... onto the freeway. This is where the fun began. Ran it to 115 MPH at WOT. Jerked it between lanes and basically drove like a maniac. This is perhaps the most composed large car I've driven- it outhandles a BMW 740i Sport easilly. Not to mention, the intimidation factor. Come up on traffic moving 70 MPH at 95 MPH with your headlights on... and traffic SCRAMBLES out of your way.

Off the freeway now... where the TRUE fun began. A Lexus GS400 wanted a piece of me..... and I obliged. He took me off the line, but I started gaining on him around 20 MPH, and passed around 60. We both ran up to 100 MPH... in a 45 MPH zone. And then next stoplight, I go WOT on it, up to 115 on the same road.

In short... it's an incredible car, and I am now waiting on my credit approval to come through. Hopefully, it will be in my driveway before Tuesday.

Andrea:

YOU are one cool dudess!! Nice to find someone who drives the way I do! Got mine on 6-27 (first one the dealer got) so didn't get a preorder test drive. But since then have put 6230 fun miles on this beauty (some actually on business). It's fun to see someone else putting the MM thru it's paces and coming out the other side more enthusiastic than before.

You mentioned how much you enjoyed the exhaust sound. I was lucky enough to hear the exhaust sound at a factory demo in St. Louis and immediately thought "Flowmasters!".

On Friday the 28th of June I rolled out of a custom muffler shop with a pair of Series 40's and jeez does this thing sound great! Wags thought the 40's would be too loud but when he finally hears them I think he may change his mind. At 1500 rpm the resonance is sooo sweet and at ALL cruise speeds you only hear a distent muted rumble.

Under acceleration, anyone within earshot knows this ain't no grampa car!!
