Hi Everyone,
I've had my 04 mm for about a month now...and i've noticed a little surprise ..that i didnt expect, but has made me laugh....I have a 35 mile commute one way everyday to work...almost all expressway.....i can not get over that when i get on the expressway...everyone gets out of my way !!!! LOL....it's like they clear a path thinking i'm a cop.....they can't get to the right lane fast enough !! I had some woman in a mini-van driving 62 mph in the left lane talking on her cell phone...she looked up an noticed me in her rear view mirror...and couldnt move over fast enough !! i just laughed and passed her on by...i bet i have shaved 7-10 mins off my commute everyday already...lol
Does this happen to everyone...???
Just curious?

Yup! I call it "ez-passing"! Happens all the time on my trips to NY. If the traffice is light to moderate, they move. Heavy traffic, nobody moves. I can only imagin what people think after I pass..... (MFer! Thats not a cop!) hehe. little do they know....

I don't think they move over because they get the idea I am a police officer, I think they move over because they realize I am moving a long at a much higher rate of speed than they are. I'm going to hold back my thoughts about those *#(@*%! left lane lovers that can't understand what the left lane is for :censor:

The other thing you'll notice is on the interstate, cars flying up behind you and hitting their brakes, backing off, and then falling in behind you, causing them to go bald from scratching their heads too much trying to figure out "WTFIT???? ".

I like to refer to the MM causing people to move out of the way as "Moses", you know "parting the waters (cars)".... I think it's definitely because the MM looks like your standard law enforcement vehicle. Especially when you see it in your rearview mirror. I've gotten the finger sometimes when the other driver realizes that your not a LEO.... :D

I've told this before, Tallguy; but we have at-grade intersections, on US 15 north of Frederick, MD, and I must cross both lanes and sit in the median, waiting my chance to merge from the left, which, sometimes turns out to be an exciting adventure. When I'm in the Silver Birch Marauder, they line up, single file, in the slow lane, and merging becomes a snap. Needless to say, after merging, I become the leader of the pack.
BTW, seeing your screen name got me to thinking about the number of MM and CV owners who are big guys, and if we, generally, represent a much larger slice of the population who are bigger folks than, say Yugo drivers. To that end, I'm gonna start a poll, asking about MM and CV owner tallness. ;)

Same thing happens to me in our Silver Marauder (Alabama Hwy Patrol cars are silver CV's) but happens even more when we're in our black 04 Crown Vic, as all "undercover" cars are black CV's. Never thought I'd have so much fun:D

I don't agree Keith; it's the ultimate stealth mobile. I mean, who'd ever suspect a smoke would be in a ride like yours. Maryland had a Vette, with flames painted on it, (confiscated druggie car) and did a land office business with it.:D

Was putting along, at the speed limit (in the right lane), when a sports car came up from behind me, fast. When it closed to within 100 feet, the nose dived down under hard breaking. Geuss he thought i was a cop. He slowly pulled up next to me, then sped off.
If you want to see people REALLY hit the brakes, be in the far right lane of a four lane highway, just slightly ahead of a semi-truck in the immediate lane to your left. Then, when someone comes flying by in the 2 fast lanes and sees the front half of a blue Marauder sticking out, ohhh my. I've had that happen twice just by coincidence, and both times I had to eventually nail the gas and widen the gap by a ton of car lengths because it looked like I was leading a calvary charge. No one would pass, break out, or switch lanes.

If you guys really want to have some fun all you have to do is sit on the side of the highway for a few minutes and watch all the cars slam on their brakes. A few weeks ago i was looking for my remote for my radio and had to pull over to find it. Once i found it i started to drive slow on the side of the road to merge in to the first lane and i noticed that most of the cars slammed on their brakes. Its kinda funny sometimes to see the front end of other cars literally rub the street from slamming on their brakes soooooo hard.

In Ohio they don't move over for me, they stop. That gets old in a hurry.

I pull on the highway and scoot right over to the left lane , cruise about 75/80 mph and the line thats there clears out quickly .Especailly when i give it a little gas cause the front bounces and they think i'm in a hurry.

Yeah, when there's only one lane in each direction and the numb-skull in front of you decides to go 5mph under the limit "just to be on the safe side".

Someone should take a poll to find out exactly how many site members and MM owners really are in fact true LEO's...and not just wannabe's. Seems like a lot of wannabes in here.
People move over for me on the highway because they're doing 65, and see me coming up behind them doing 90-100. Not because they think I'm a cop.

Every Panther I have owned causes the "move over" or the "rapid slow down" at least temporarily... The rapid slow down can be annoying at times. I run with both a quad band ham antenna and Wilson W-1000, they just add to the MORSD factor. :stooges:

My experience has shown that CVs, GMs, and MMs (not sure about TCs)usually cause people to get out of the way, even at speeds much less than 90-100. I've owned about 10 of them, and the story is usually always the same. "MORSD"

You know it's bad when you slow down for YOURSELF!
I always have the CB on when I am on the interstate rolling hard. As soon as I hear "North bound rolling plain black wrapper", I back out of it...only to discover that I AM the plain black wrapper...:shake:

I have had mixed success here in Northern Virginia. Seems we have alot of folks here that don't know how to use their rear view mirror. Some haven't looked in them for months. Others have them adjusted to watch the kiddies in the rear seat or some other such reason. However, the one's who do occasionally look to the rear will move right quickly when I come up on 'em. :D

A trip south on I75 last week down to Ft Myers to go see Carfixer ... gave me a lil' taste of this.
Made some pretty awesome time down & back.
Funny, I could care LESS about people getting OUT of my way ... I'd rather NOT having them crawl up my *** when I am already doing say ... a casual 5 miles OVER the posted speed limit on a SINGLE lane road w/a 35 mph speed limit.
As far as I am concerned ... unless you are in an OFFICIAL vehicle on OFFICIAL business ... back the frick OFF. If the speed limits 35 & I'm doing 40 ... there is NO reason I should have to keep glancing in my mirror & seeing you on my ***.
Now on a major 2/3 lane highway ...
Things are a bit different.
Speed limit is 70 - I'm doing 75 - & you roll up behind me wanting to go faster ...
As long as there is someplace for me to safely move OUT of you way ... I say GO FOR IT. However, if traffic is bumper to bumper in all THREE lanes ... & you roll up on my *** trying to bully me out of the way when you will gain absolutely ZERO ground by doing so(other than occupying the very space I just had), as there is trully NO PLACE to go ... screw you & the horse you rode in on.
lol
Had some a-hole do this very thing to me today ... doing a steady leisurely 40 in a 35 ... & some f***nut is in my backseat.

The down side to this is the oh-crap-there-is-a-cop-behind-me reaction. You know, slam the brake and slow from 75 to 53 in .02 seconds..... And then they dont move!!! That is when I am yelling "get out of the way"!

I have a long inclined onramp to the 4-lane divided for my trip home from work daily. I go WOT here often because it's safe and smooth. Well, and fun.
I have seen people pull off to the shoulder when they see me coming.

I love it when that happens! :D
And it's getting more and more frequent here in Florida since Dennis convinced the FHP to buy Marauders and send them to him for the standard 140+ MPH conversion kit. ;)
There's been a media campaign and a few local TV news spots about those "secret" Marauders out there on the interstate looking for aggressive drivers. One $500 ticket and the "insurance-premium-rates-to-match-your-car-payment-for-being-branded-an-aggressive-driver" has definitely gotten everybodys' attention down here in Florida.
Sometimes I get on the interstate and stomp the accelerator on the on-ramp to get up to speed and I'll be coming up on some guy in a Corvette doing 85 pretty fast before I realise I'm doing 100 and he'll like shift it down into second for some drastic engine braking, the rear tires puff smoke. He doesn't want to show a brake light. That one really makes me laugh. Gear punchers.
I guess I'd feel bad :( if all of a sudden the exhaust starts puking blue smoke and oil starts blowing onto the windshield but I don't know because that hasn't happened,
yet. :D

I've found that flashing the headlights has a positive affect on people who don't want to get out of the fastlane. Turn signal comes on almost immedietly and lane change direclty thereafter. I had one person at night doing less than the speed limit. After flashing, he got over, then when he noticed I wasn't a CHP he got back in the fast lane and turned on his high beams. Didn't bother me since he was doing 60 and I was going faster than that. If you haven't tried flashing your headlights, your missing a lot of fun.

Shoot, here is Iowa, if you flash your brights on someone going slow in the left lane, they slow down even more. Then once you finally do get around them (usually by getting in the right lane), they will get behind you and leave their brights on. Just blows my mind...
More of them need to go back to driver's ED with quality instructors and do a little reading about road courtsey. Oh, wait, that is wishful thinking in this world where it is all about "ME"... :censor:
