I searched history on heated seats and didn't find too much on the subject. I have a 2004 MM Silver Birch and would like to know if any body has done this mod themselves or is it cheaper to have a shop do it? Any idea if factory parts are available like switches and door panels? How about the wiring, is it in the door and under the carpet so it's install and plug and play? Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Gotta love the car :banana:
Ps. I know I'm in San Diego... but it does get all the way down to 28°F on occasion.

I just finished putting heated seat kits in a friend's Marauder. I'm going to do mine next. If you are comfortable taking seats apart and wiring things up, you shouldn't have any problems. It took 5 hrs to install both kits. I can do the next one in 3-4 hrs. The kits fit like OEM. I mounted the switches on the side of the gauge pod. There are no pre run wires.

DTR04;
What brand of heaters did you install? Is there a significant cost savings of doing it yourself vs having the dealer(or any other installer) do it? My dealer would charge about $275 a seat.

I bought them here: http://www.sportsimportsltd.com/heatelcarsea.html
I believe there is a sizable cost savings. It all depends on how confident you are of your installation skills. I'll try to do almost anything once. These were easier to install than I thought they would be.

I had the dealer install heated seats as part of the contract. They install flat 3 position HIGH/OFF/LOw in the center console. I like the placement better than having to find the switches on the door. I think it cost around $150.00.
