My friend who is visiting from California with his 03 let me drive it today. (Curse him  because now I have to have one). I took him to my favorate Ford dealer for a Transmission Flush. Cheaper here than in California. That car drove great. Even my wife liked the car and it takes a lot to impress her.:D
Going to visit a dealer a couple hours away to test drive an 03 that he has on the lot. Who knows. We may be able to work something out. You never know. :coolman:

I'am sure you will do the right thing, and buy one.My wife hated the car when I got it home, but after she drove it,she loved it.Now she goes to the store or get the kids at school the kids tell me how many people they dusted on the trip.
I understand your feelings. I test drove mine about 500 feet one way, made a u-turn at the light, came back past the dealer and made another u-turn, pulled in and bought it. I guess you could say it was love at first 'light'.

:o Wes,
Kind of did the same thing..saw mine on Autobytel.com, negotiated price for two days and then drove 258 miles (in the trade-in). When I got there was the first time I drove one. I knew this was the car for me, and haven't had a single regret yet.

I bought mine sight unseen. The dealer didn't have any on his lot. He got
on the computer and said there was one 150 miles away he could have
it here in 3 hrs. I signed the papers and went back 4 hrs later and picked
it up........Loved it......but now comes the bad part!!!!
I am trading it for a 2003 Cobra Convertable.......I think I am gonna
miss my MM but the guy has a growing family and I always wanted a
Cobra.. I should have bought one to start with......anyway I think both
of us will be happy with our deal......
I'll still hang out here cause I ain't found abetter car site yet...Your all

 Left lane!
 Turn signal stuck on "on"
 '03 COBRA!!
:burn:
Go get 'em, Al. Looks like a great find. I sure miss my '97 and hope there's gonna be an '05 or '06. It would be an outrage if the gave up on the SVT project, with John Colletti gone.

Did not buy it! Here is what happened. 03 Black build date 08/02. 15527 miles.
This morning, I fully expected to buy it once I saw it, even went to my bank and got out the Title for my trade. Drove 50+ miles to dealer. I had been told that I was expected, but when I got there, they had to page the guy who I thought was a manager of some kind, but he turned out to be the guy who sets up the client (me) with a salesman (which they call "Product Specialist" - I knew more about cars than he did). Went out to the car. Looks beautiful. Walked around it and because I have read many posts on this site on what to look for, I checked the tires. Rear tires are very well worn. (Car only has 15500 miles on it). Left front tire is worn on inside. Mentioned this to salesman who says, "no problem, we will fix it, we will put new tires on it, no problem, "you gotta trust me". Told him that it looks like previous owner was horsing it around. Next, we take it for a ride. 1. First thing I notice is that the engine/drive line is noisy. Not talking about mufflers, as they were quiet, just that the engine/drive line was noisy. Yes, it moves when I tromp on it and yes it shifts very rough when I drove it like that. I then drove it like I would normally would (easy). I was getting a rough shift even then. (My friends MM was nice and smooth when driven easy). I then noticed a strange noise in the transmission at very low speeds. Just sounds like a buzz, but goes away as the car goes faster. Again salesman says "we will fix it". "You gotta trust me" Next we go back to the dealership. Wants to know how I will pay and I told him I will finance. Never mentioned how much yet. Now it gets good. Asked me for my trades Registration and Insurance card. I asked him why, as nobody has looked at my trade yet. Said they always do that. (Told him that when I bought my 02 Continental a few months ago, I never had to do that until after they looked at my trade). Then we sat down and he wants to start to make out the paperwork. First he wants me to sign a paper that states that they will not sell any information I give them to anyone, except to those authorized by law. (The way I read that, they could sell information to anyone). So before I sign, I told him that I wanted to see the "CarFax" information that he has been telling me about, and in addition I wanted an "Oasis" printout from the Ford Service website. They act like they never heard of Fords Oasis printout. I told them to go into their Service Department and ask for it, as Service would know what it is. He then starts to fiddle with some papers and starts to tell me what the MM first sold for, plus what my trade first sold for, and I asked him again to get me an Oasis printout. He again said "You gotta trust me". :mad2: Well, NO I DON'T, so I told him that I was no longer interested in the car and walked out. (Mind you, we had not talked money yet). I never saw so many "managers" come out of the woodwork, trying to get me back in. Salesman said "what did I say"? Managers were saying "Oh we're sorry, please come back in and we will make it right", but I told them that I was no longer interested in the car.
If anyone else wants to go and see it, I will tell you where it is. This dealer states in his website that: "Level of Service in both Sales and Service that is Second to None" and "It is our stated policy to treat each client as an invited guest in our home, and to achieve outstanding levels of client satisfaction by exceeding all of our clients expectations".
My wife thinks I was too rough on them, but then again, my wife is "A Salesmans Dream".
I'll keep looking. I'm in no hurry.

Good call, I say. These cars aren't so rare that you need to buy a bunch of problems that you're only going to have to pay to fix.
