I just made this thread because I'm wondering who most of you'll have insurance with. I'm thinking of changing from USAA but I haven't found anyone cheaper then them yet. If you'll wouldn't mind I was wondering if some of you guys could post what Insurance you have and how much 6 month premiums are for full coverage and liability. Thanks

wantone, it would be difficult to give you a accurate comparison. Insurance costs are dependant on too many factors to give you a valid answer. With that stated, I insure with AIG.

What we have and pay is not going to help much--cause it's related to city, state, your age, driving record and THEN, any discounts you may be intitled too due to other factors, like home, multy cars, etc....but it seems that your age will pretty much stailmate you in a "zone" for awhile , probably until your 25 in most states unless your married and own a home....just my :twocents:

I am also a USAA member. It might not be the cheapest, but the service I receive is great. That makes USAA worth it to me.

I have had USAA insurance since 1969 and have never had a problem. Their service and responsiveness is excellent. It's worth it to me. Direct cost comparison will be difficult because of age, experience, location and other factors. :D At 20 years of age, unfortunately you are in a high risk category for about the next 5 years.

I am in the insurance business. USAA is an excellent auto insurer. They started off as military pilots insuring each other because auto insurers deemed pilots as high risk auto drivers.

There is always someone cheaper, but what are they rated financially and what coverage are they providing?

USAA has done my auto for years and although they are not perfect for the most part they have been fair on claims and premiums.

I suggest a $500 DEd on Comprehensive and a $1,000 DED on Collision. This will lower your premium considerably and keep your record clean by paying for the minor damage your self.

I have MAIF A state insurance since allstate(sucks) screwed me around and once they do that and you don't even know that your not insured for 3 mnths .then you have to do the state insurance for 2 years then you can find your own..I've been with allstate(sucks) for over 10 yrs , Heh NOT NO MORE!!!
Anyways (i feel better now , Thanks) i was checking out American exprees's insurance and theres looks pretty darn good same coverage @ a hell of a cheaper price..so when i'm done with maif hello amx ..Never leave home w/o it..

This is a great idea. I do the same. I insure two cars with Progressive. And rotate them in and out of full, and comprehensive coverage during the year. The Marauder is on full for 6 summer months, and is on comprehensive for 6 winter months. My truck is on the opposite schedule. With a less than stellar record, my insurance premiums are very affordable for ME. Playing little games like this might appear to be a p-i-t-a, but it will save you in the long run. Shop around, see what you find.

Having lived in Waldorf, MD from 1984 to 1999 I don't even want to know what your paying into MAIF for your MM....I feel you pain.

I too have been with USAA since 1986 with both the cars and my houses, they have been great to me service and rate wise. With the vehicles listed below, I'm paying less that $900 every 6 mos.

Does anyone know could be better than USAA? Honestly, I'm not even really worried about service because I plan on just having the state minimum, which is liability for cars that are already paid for. I'm just looking to be legal, I'm not really concerned about how good the coverage is until I'm on my feet and what not.

I am with USAA and have never been able to find a cheaper rate.

USAA is $800 year with $300k/$100k coverage. For California/Los Angeles it is a great deal. I recently got a quote from GEICO which was $1900 year.

There is no best. Insurance is a necessary evil. :D :D
I have Allstate and have no complaints to date.
One of my sons has USAA since he was a Captain in the Army. Originally they only insured officers and now I believe the general public is included.

I think you have to be related to the military in one way or another either by spouse, mother, father or a government employee. But, I haven't been able to find anyone cheaper as well. I just need to find a fly by nite company thats cheap as hell.

:o I have Geico right now, just recently changed from Nationwide. This change was because the idiots refused to lower my rates when I moved from Dallas (millions of cars) to Texarkana (thousands). I had been with Nationwide for 24 years, but I figure their loss is money back in my pocket.

I plan on asking Geico for a price reduction at renewal because I am tired of supporting the advertizing budget they have. It seems like avery few minutes there is a Geico commercial. I would love to shoot that little green lizard!

I have had USAA for 6 years, they are the best insurance co. I've ever had. I'd stay with them if I were you.

I have Progressive, and they are "way cheap." I have never filed a claim with them but their service so far has been excellent as far as making sure the poilicy is the way I want it (I've changed it about 6 times).

I pay approx. $600 per year for my MM and $400 for my wife's car, both with 2 drivers. 100/300 and all that jazz ($500 deductible) including roadside assistance and gap coverage on the MM for a while.

Incidentally, I got away from roadside assistance through AAA (loved them but lotsa $) once I doscivered they were using the exact same contractors for service. If I need a tow between work and home, it's the same guy who comes to get it and I now only pay $7 per month instead of $120+ per year. (hasn't happened, just something I asked about)

Sure, AAA is much better for travel plans and maps, but I don't have the money to go anywhere, so that's that.

USAA guidelines changed in the past few years.

It is available to ALL military members regardless of rank. Active, Guard and Reserve are eligible. Spouses and children of USAA members are also eligible for coverage.

Good rates and service with Metropolitan here. I switched from GEICO after they decided to hike my rates when they realized a Marauder isn't a regular Grand Marquis.
