Hi everyone! I have been an avid "guest" on this site for many months now but have decided to join since I recently became the proud new owner of a 2003 Marauder. My friend, who also owns an '03 (blue) suggested I share my story.
First of all, the car: It is an '03 black with light flint interior. The only option is the 6 disk CD changer in the trunk. It has a light under the hood but no clock in the dash and no locking gas cap. I live in Miami, FL and attended the recent Marauder picnic in Broward County, FL. Seeing all those beautiful Marauders sealed the deal for me. I had to have one of my own. I promptly began scouring the Internet for a new one. I got some leads but all were too far away and more than I wanted to pay. I eventuallly located one in Alabama. I contacted the seller - a L-M- dealer - and got as many details as I could about the car. He agreed to fax me the CARFAX and OASIS printouts. I reviewed these and saw nothing derogatory. The dealer agreed to hold the car for one week and I promptly booked a flt to AL. I arrived at the airport last Thursday with my friend in tow. As soon as we exited the terminal, we saw a gleaming black Marauder in pull up in the terminal. The salesman had come to pick me up in what would become my Marauder! It had obviously been detailed and was gleaming in the afternoon sunshine. We went to teh dealership and promptly embarked on a lengthly test drive. Everything seemed OK with the car so we returned to the dealership. The dealer put it up on a lift and we inspected the undercarriage. It was as clean underneath as above! I decided to do the deal and bought the car. The dealer changed the oil and did a mini service for me. I then drove the car - again with my friend in tow - on the 800 + mile journey back to Miami. We were a little apprehensive driving back as AL does not issue temporary tags. I had only the dealer advertising tag on the back! Fortunately, I was not stopped, although I did see FHP Trtooper in a DTR Marauder ticketing someone on I-75 ( it would have been interesting if he stopped me!)The Marauder ran flawlessly! I overnighted in Tallahassee and arrived in Miami Friday night. I was exhausted but elated. The Marauder was finally home!

Welcome, I believed we talked at the picnic, yeah its hard not to get one of these cars after you met the fine people of the SSM club :) Oh alright shameless plug, couldn't help it.

Nice story, seems like quite a few of us have made a road trip to pick up their cars. I beleive AZMarauder is the record holder on that event!

Hope to see you soon!

:welcome: Welcome miami, thanks for sharing your story. Since we've been talking about changeover models RE: '03 - '04, I'm wondering about the build date on your lucky find, since you say there's no locking gas cap lid, or clock. For instance, is there a large or small spare, or traction control, or map pockets in the seat fronts? My '04 was built in December '03; and has all the '04 stuff.

We finally got to take Blue out for it's first real road trip, SoCal to Tucson and back. What a great road car!
Gonna have to talk to Dennis 'bout that speed limiter thing, though. Or maybe I should say _alleged_ speed limiter. :-)

Hey, miami, is that date a mistake? From what you're saying, I think the build date should be 12/13/03, which would explain a lot, and make me think you have an '04. If you don't have a moonroof, but the short o'head console, no clock, no remote gas door, TC, small spare, etc. Mine's got nearly the same build date, and I'm wondering about your serial number. Could be we're driving twins.;)

Mike,
That date is only 1 month before my 300B (01/13/2003). ... and I have the same set-up with T/C, donut spare, no map pockets, no remote gas release, no separate dash clock ... but fortunately I got the 5 extra HP. I am sure you noticed!!!

Shame on you.:nono:

It had nothing to do with horsepower. You just took unfair advantage of a poor senior citizen, and my torn ACL which greatly reduced reaction time due to the extreme pain and suffering I was experiencing. At least you could have waited until the GREEN light came on, like I did. Um, I was wondering, what did it mean when you left early, and that red light thing came on? Was that why we didn't get timing slips? I still think my ET was lowest.

My R/T on that run was 0.135. :D The red lights were on the back of my car. I saw the backs of a couple Corvettes the same way.
