View Full Version : Starting To Think About Next Year
Some of you may know that my MM is a lease car. Our firm decided to lease cars for the partners, and our lease will be up in March of 2006. If we decide to lease for partners again (budget, tax considerations, etc.) I will need to decide what car to lease next time. Since the leases will be up in March next year, we will have to start shopping around for cars/lease deals late this year.
Like always, I want/need a car that meets the same basic configurartion as the MM:
4 door
8 cylinder
AMERICAN MADE (I know, the MM was assembled in Canada)
Rear Wheel Drive
Full size (REAL full size, not a Taurus that they are calling full size)
Since I have had my MM, I will never settle for a slow car again.
So, obviously GM is out, unless they come out with something new between now and then.
Ford is still a possibility, but without the MM, there won't be any fast cars that meet the above description. I could get a CV or GM with a PI engine, but without significant mods, it just wouldn't be the same.
OK, let the flames begin---It looks like I might have to consider either a Chrysler 300C or Dodge Charger. They wouldn't be my first choice, but how many other choices will there be out there next year?
What I really fear is that after we get into another 3 year lease early next year, that LM will come back out with another MM for release in the fall of next year.
It's early, but this will be a decision that I will live with for the next three years, so I'm starting to think about it now.

I feel your pain. That's not a decision I'd want to make with what's out there now.

I feel your pain as well. Have you considered A Kenny Brown CV/GM/TC? More importantly - what are you doing with your MM when it goes off lease?!

I don't personally consider the 300C to be a true full sized car, but that's an option if you like the styling.

Can you renew the lease? Tell them that there are no cars out there at this time that meet your criteria and you would rather keep the Marauder. If they do not agree, tell them to go 'STICK IT'. ;)

1. I don't think a regular leasing company would be able to get a KB car, and even if they could, it probably would be way over whatever budget the firm would come up with. But I would love to have one if possible.
2. I'm going to do the math. If I can afford to buy it myself, I fully intend to. It should have about 65-70 K on it by then, and hopefully still in great shape mechanically and cosmetically.

We'll if it comes down to it, you might want to go for the STS-V, CTS-V, or the 300C SRT-8. But all three might be out of range of the budget. Good luck in your quest to replace the MM.

Ross tell them they have one of three choices the Marauder, Mercerdes McLaren or the Bugatti (1001hp).
Ross,
One of our Atlanta Marauders is in the same predicament. He, although, has purchased the Marauder out of the lease...but needs to lease something again, real "quick-like". He was looking at the AWD 300C, but they won't have any until Fall.
I personally agree with the comment above about the Cadillac V...I'd probably lean that way. A man of your status needs to be in a Caddy over a Dodge...anyway.

Todd beat me to it, Ross. Let's do a brief profile:
1) Spends significant amount of time wearing a cowboy hat.
2) Spends a significant amount of time shooting single action handguns.
3) Lawyer in Houston (means you can wear boots to court).
This is a no-brainer- You're all about the Caddy.

Ross: Why not buy the Marauder from the leasing company and see if "The Firm" will give you an allowance for a car instead?
What we call a "win-win" deal:up:

Some of you are thinking of some of the same options I have been kicking around. Great minds think alike! And yes, I DO wear cowboy boots to court!

I've been toying with the idea of buying a fellow member's MM after his lease is up. This one had the DR stage 1 kit and a nice sound system upgrade.

Thanx for that vote of confidence. I'll have to buy an extended policy, then.

Perhaps it should be mentioned that that was a supercharged modded-to-the-max Marauder that blew up on a road course. The former owner was also a little crazed:D .

This owner has a nice collection of low mileage vehicles. Right now, it is just in the "Thinking" stages.

Well, I for one, like the way you think. 17,000 miles on mine and I've never loved a car this much. I believe they will probably bury me in this thing. That being said though, I do think the SRT-8 and CTS-V are really cool rides.

I have to see if it is worth the $$$ even with the mods. I know what the residual is but I need to know how much $$$$ above for the mods that have been installed.

2005 F250 Lariat Crew Cab Short Bed with the 6.0L Powerstroke Turbo Diesel, and a TS Performance Chip should have you running Mid to Low 15s in the 1/4...............

My own unspoken rule is retail value speed parts are worth 1/2 the cost the first year, 1/3 the cost the second year, 1/4 the cost the third year and nothing after that.
So, if he installed the stage one for $3000 in 2003- the mods were worth $1500 in 2004 and are now worth $1000 over the residual value of a stock Marauder.
I have nothing to base this on but that's how I think.

That would be a good rule of thumb to go by. Thanx.
