View Full Version : Can anyone help me? Wire misrouted.

Wires

At the front of the engine, on the lower, driver's side, is a small wiring harness branch. It forks, and one lead goes to the oil gauge switch, and the other is a two wire fork that goes to a connector on the power steering rack.

This branch has a clip taped to it that is supposed to be secured by pusing the clip into a round hole.

Mine is just dangling. Can anyone explain or show me where this clip is supposed to go? I can't tell if my wiring is miss-routed or if I'm missing a bracket or something.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

There is threaded hole near where the clip is. The clip pushes into that hole. On my 300B (built 12/02) the wire to the PS was trapped between the pump and engine block. When it was taken out the clip didn't line up where the hole in the block (or front cover) is. They had to re-tape the section of wire and put the clip in it's right spot. It may be you had the same problem when the engine was assembled, so they didn't push the clip in the hole. I have posted some pictures a while back in the gallery that shows the oil guage converstion. I think the pictures of the sending unit in place may show the wire. I don't have access to my digital camera right now to post a specicif photo of where it goes. Hope this helps..
